The outstanding Paul Buckmaster on cello. He arranged some of Elton's best early works. RIP

I love, no, admire EJ work until around behinning/mid 80's. Such perfection, passion and mastery. With the genious Taupin in the background. I'm old enough to know that nothing alike will be witnessed by eyes and ears again.

Many are not aware of the yearning for a sibling that went unfulfilled for Elton John and how it added to the sadness and loneliness of his childhood. So this song has an additional dimension.

I am now in my mid 60s. I have memories of this song and ELTON JOHN WITH BERNIE TAUPIN, fabulous and great memories, of all of their collaborations. I saw Mr. John in concert at least 20 times in the 70's and 80's and 90's. I can NEVER forget the beautiful lyrics and melodies those two produced. My Dear Lord, if you take me to the pilot, lead me through the chamber; I will NEVER be a stranger. My heart goes out to both Elton John and Bernie Taupin; as they both "got it" more than anyone else I have ever listened to. I AM YOUR BIGGEST FAN, EVER, EVER, EVER. Please understand, PLEASE. May God bless you and your families throughout all time. I hope and pray you two get lucky enough to read this post!!! Love Gabada

I can't beleive his voice was better here than in 2010. Okay, maybe not better, just so very different. Who would have though that this would be some of his best work ever even after all these years. I saw EJ perform this live with the orchestra in 1987 and I just felt the most immense honor at being in the presence of pure genius.

But, please don't forget it was Bernie Taupin's incredible talent as a lyricist that gives Elton's wonderful music its soul.
@iluvdogs58139 жыл бұрын
RuudVanDrijver Elton has his own sensitivity and soul that inform his compositions. It is amazing to think that some are not able to hear that in this song. His unique spirit and gifts are in the music he writes and equally important to the lyrics in anything they have co-written --IMO.
