Thank you. Very interesting. I always wonder about where Elvis watched films when he was in Los Angeles. We don't know a lot about that, whereas we know quite a bit about movie nights in Memphis.

Sorry to break it to all of you, but that photo of Elvis was taken at the Regent theatre in Westwood Village near UCLA. It is now known as the Landmark Regent and is now one of the few remaining theaters still open there.
@barbararoberts1418
@barbararoberts1418 3 ай бұрын
@@tonycanabal1659 Idk about that. I just did a Google image search and the theater that you speak of doesn't even remotely look like the theater that Elvis was photographed coming out of. However, the one in this video bares an uncanny resemblance.

@@barbararoberts1418 The marquee has been changed since but still has the same shape. The other Regent is the only theater left on Main Street. In the 60's all the Main Street theaters were adult ,grindhouses, foreign language,and burlesque halls. I doubt that Elvis would go there then to see a first run movie.
@barbararoberts1418
@barbararoberts1418 3 ай бұрын
@@tonycanabal1659 Perhaps Elvis wouldn't go to a place like that to see a movie, but then again, who really knows what Elvis would or wouldn't do? A year ago I thought P. Diddy was a straight man that worked hard to get where he is/was. However, I concede that I'm not from LA and know nothing about either theater. Since you are much more educated on both, I will take your word for it. :)

If you haven’t checked out the Biltmore, the famous hotel in LA, then you would find it very interesting. It was the sight of the very first Oscars (Academy Awards) and there is a historical marker on the sidewalk outside about it. I spent 2 weeks there several years ago on an extended business trip, and I had meetings in the very room where the first Academy Awards were held. That trip happened when the Oscars were going on that year. Several stars used it as a place to get ready to go to the Oscars and then to come back to for after parties. Julia Roberts had the penthouse, and used a private elevator. “Gladiator” had been popular that year, and Russell Crow was getting on the elevator as I was getting off the elevator.

KZbin DID NOT NOTIFY ME OF YOUR VIDEO {AGAIN!} THANKS SPY GUY & TREY FOR MORE ELVIS HISTORY. I HAVE NEVER BEEN TO LA AND CAN'T SEE THAT I AM MISSING TOO MUCH EITHER! HOWEVER, THE REGENT THEATRE LOOKS PRETTY IMPRESSIVE!! DO YOU BELIEVE ELVIS WAS WITH SOMEONE ELSE BUT JUST NOT IN THE PICTURE? I CAN'T SEE ELVIS GOING TO A MOVIE ALONE ESPECIALLY DOWNTOWN LA!

Great Video! Seems strange to me though Elvis would go to a general admission Theatre like that...for a movie like that. This is a far out theory but....Could Elvis have went to this movie to maybe see how quickly he would have been recognized...and approached by the general public? I remember reading in a book about how the producer of the comeback special told him his career was flat (because of films)...and to prove it he sent Elvis out into the street for reactions. You both used your "Rockford Agency Trained Investigator Skills"....I guess Trey would make a good sidekick like Angel Martin.

Wow ...Fascinating Video Guys 😬 What is the address of this movie theatre?? I did months of work downtown LA ...in the fashion district! 9th street and Main !! The building next to my building was the famous Eastern Clock building! That Jonny Depp purchased! I have lots of pics of me on that building....with downtown LA as the back drop 😃 Really enjoyed watching this .. Cheers Billy 🎙🎶🥂

Downtown LA is not the "downtown" of other cities. Quite the opposite. Everything worth seeing and visiting is outside downtown and not in it. I hope you stop by Pasadena. I lived there for almost a decade and loved it.

Did Elvis watch this movie with an audience in the theater or did he rent it out like the Memphian? If he did not rent it out, does this mean Steve Binder was right about nobody recognizing Elvis in 1968 and he could attend movies and go shopping like a regular person?
@SpaGuy
@SpaGuy 5 ай бұрын
LOL.. Binder is definitely not right as other people who were there at the Singer Special said he was still very famous and would be mobbed.. I think he just walked in sat down no one noticed.. It doe snot apear that he rented it out he just went to a movie..
