Important to remember that pop and country folks didn’t know what to make of Elvis. He combined multiple influences in his interpretation of music. It was hard to categorize, initially.

This was only three months after he stepped in the studio for the first time to record That's Alright Mama. He was a complete rookie at this point and still incredible.

Why did the guy who first recorded him at Sun records end up letting him go? Was there a contract with that guy and Elvis? When did Colonel Parker come into the picture? I know it's a lot of questions but I'm kind of young and trying to learn also. I can probably find it on Google but someone like you might be more accurate. I'll be glad when that movie comes at the end of June. If you get a chance to answer that would be cool and I would appreciate it but if not that's okay too

He seemed to be so young...only 19, WOW! He also was young and INNOCENT!!! I am sure that he NEVER dreamed that he would be so successful!!! Anyone can see that he was headed for MUCH success! THE KING definetly had his own style...THANK GOD!!! He was a rebel! He was the first one to sing ROCK and ROLL!!! Everyone else were all COPY CATS of THE KING! I am more impressed by him with every song that I hear! I have been a fan since 1957. My Mother was a fan and when I was really young, after she left the room; I decided to mess with the knobs on our new t.v.! She was watching an ELVIS movie! Man, did I get my hands spanked!!! Needless to say, that day I became a huge ELVIS fan, and I NEVER messed with that t.v. set AGAIN!!! Thank you for a wonderful reaction! I truely enjoy watching you do your reactions! Thanks again!!!

It's a shame none of the hayride footage exists. Still dope we can here audio from nearly 70 years ago though.
@RC_TCB2 жыл бұрын
@@choice12ozborne I think the footage you're speaking of was shortly before he started to appear on the hayride and is the earliest Elvis footage there is. Someone just randomly recorded that at a fair. I've only heard in a few documentaries that the hayride was on like local television but the footage must have just got lost over the years.

It was a stage show that actually traveled. He was with Louisiana hayride several times. You c an hear some country in there. They called him rockabilly. Stay well.
@timcarr64012 жыл бұрын
The LHR stayed in place. Elvis, Scotty and Bill traveled doing shows during the week. Rockabilly is a combo of Country and R&B.

When he started it was rockabilly rock and roll wasn't invented yet . When he went to RCA in late 55 they had no songs to compare with so elvis sang the songs he knew that was from black artists . Now he always gave credit something a white man in 56 didn't need to do . Yes he got the awards ect but other artists got stuffed by the music bigwigs . Col Parker didn't allow them to do that .
@timcarr64012 жыл бұрын
Elvis did all styles of music, even as early as late 1955. His songs did not consist of only R&B covers.

Shortly after this time they wanted to arrest him for the way he moved on stage. When he went on Ed Sullivan they censored him and only shot him from the waist up. It was a very conservative time in the 50’s and Elvis went through hell but he also kicked the door wide open for everyone else.
