I love just hearing his voice. I love that this was just him. It really shows his voice. It’s nice to hear songs without the background singers sometimes because his voice is amazing. They are never predictable, and it does show how special he is. It is the magic of velvet so much

I of course had to immediately compare this with Tom Jones' better known version. They are quite different. Tom start off with a talking introduction, and the music is a bit different. Tom certainly hits the high notes and does emote at times. It is certainly and excellent version. Elvis' cover, however, is on another level. He doesn't bother with a talking intro but starts out with powerful, emotive notes. As a matter of fact, every word is dripping with emotion. And the song builds to a crescendo. Elvis' voice is also a bit stronger and more powerful than Tom's. Tom Jones tells a story, Elvis sings about his life.
