About REPO and Paris: My brother in law's friend, Joey went to college with Terrance (Grave Robber), and he actually did work on the film with Terrance as a favor since they're friends... Well apparently, the budget was running super slow, and they didn't know how they were going to fill in things like - costume, make-up, and other misc. items and extras. So Paris Hilton stepped in and funded them, as well as donated her own personal clothing line to the extras in order to get that luxury feel to it that they were looking for. She let them all keep the outfits at the end of it, and asked for nothing in return -- she just wanted to support the film. According to Joey, she is really smart, and insanely funny. She made fun of herself and her past, and was very supportive to the whole film, despite her only being in it for a little. After hearing this from Joey, I've completely changed my opinion about her. According to many many many theater people I ran into in 2010 who helped with the film, Paris Hilton is the epitome of awesome, kind, and humble. She literally had to use the dumb-chick thing in order for people to even give her a chance to show off her skills. She's just as successful as her parents in business and class. I had hated her my entire life until Joey and his friends blew my mind, and then I was like "OMG..She's a princess!! 9_9". (Also - I love REPO! You suuuuuck!! >:P (Just kidding! About the town in house of wax, I think they actually say in the movie or perhaps I read it somewhere, that the town was actually abandoned when Bo returned to it and convinced Vincent to start kidnapping and turning people into wax…so everyone that’s been turned into a wax figure is people that were lured to the town by the third brother.
@redlovett Жыл бұрын
Yep that's pretty much what happened, I found this about Ambrose on the HOW wiki, which goes into more detail: "The new highway in 1995 cut off direct travel through town, and the sugar mill where Bo (assumingly) worked closed down stated later by the officer Carly and Nick spoke to. This sugar mill was closed for 10 years. Isolated from the outside world, Bo started picking off the last few remaining people in town and his brother covered up the crimes by turning the bodies into figures,"

Some people have skin diseases that make it almost impossible to take care of yourself. I've had the worst acne when I was a teenager and I took great care of my skin and was on a vegan diet, so it's not like you can always look good if you take care of yourself. Of course, it's always worse if you don't take care of yourself, but there are many people that take care of themself 10 times more than you, but still look like that. Also many threatments cost a lot of money, so for example I didn't treat my acne scars until I was 22, because then I had enough money, because I was lucky enough to get a well paid job.

Okay, the one thing you left out of House of Wax, and this stuck with me because it's such a weird reversal or misunderstanding of tropes... Paris Hilton's character was supposed to be pregnant. Like, as I recall, a central conflict for her and her boyfriend was that she didn't want s3xytimes because she thought she was pregnant, and it resolves with him being like, "Yeah, I'm not gonna abandon you" and then they both get killed like all of that time and energy building and then resolving their conflict was spent on nothing. Also it is RARE af that a pregnant character gets killed, except to show some exceptional level of monstrosity for a villainous character. However, the villain was already presented as fairly monstrous, both due to physical deformity, and just encasing so many people in wax. It's up there with the Jurassic world scene where the secretary lady gets brutally mauled by pterosaurs and then eaten for no reason.

Absolutely loved repo myself. One of my all time favorite musicals. That being said i get the argument about music being bad. Some of the songs were pretty bad but on the flipside i absolutely love other half of them. There are some illogical stuff that takes you out of the immersion even by musical standards. Like the graverobber screaming when he is trying to sneak at the graveyard. But despite the bad stuff its the set design, worldbuilding and overall atmosphere of the film that makes up for all of that for me

I absolutely love Repo! The Genetic Opera, but I can also absolutely understand why someone wouldn't. That said, Graverobber is extracting zydrate from the corpses of former zydrate addicts, and he yells GRAVES! to impress Shiloh. And, a bit of trivia, Hilton really really loved the project and paid out of pocket to fund and promote it. House of Wax I enjoyed too, despite it falling prey to some of the more annoying horror movie tropes. It feels like an interesting combination of the original House of Wax and a specific Twilight Zone episode (the title of which escapes me at present). The cops and relatives of the townspeople probably did find out - but didn't live to tell about it because literally everyone who goes through the town is killed and made into wax. There's a bin in the "wax works" building that is FILLED with cellphones that you see towards the end. It pretty much tells you all you need to know.

I adored repo as a kid. For some reason like ten-ish years later I still know all the lyrics to the most iconic songs. I showed it to my husband recently and at the same time watched it for the first time in a long time and I oddly remember understanding the story better as a kid; now it confuses me a bit. But since it’s so nostalgic I was able to overlook its flaws. Also my husband got me a little glass vial of zydrate for my birthday it was awesome lmfao.
