To be fair, Peter bullying Flash after he was bitten by the spider was very accurate to the Peter Parker from the comic books. In the comics it was very clear, that if Peter could, he would fight back against Flash and even possibly be a bully himself. It was only after the death of Uncle Ben which he was partially at fault for, that he realised he should use his power to never let anything like that happen again. He wasnt really a good person before he got the powers, it was the powers that made it possible for him to be good.

He then became very good friend with flash after getting to know him. I even read a spidey comic where flash was peter wingman for MJ, which is really cute. Really, the worst part of andrew bullying is the electro scene in time square. Completely tone deaf and out of character, even back then at 15 i physically cringed because i knew this wasn't it.

i guess this is one of the morals that the story teaches ya. You gotta be responsible if you have a lot of power, otherwise shits gonna hit the fan. I actually liked how Peter seems to struggle with this line of thinking throughout the entirety of two movies, and he still doesnt seem to grasp the concept that "not being a bully" isnt the only way to be responsible. You also have to be careful with the people youre supposedly helping.

Seriously bothers me when people have this complaint about these movies. He's clearly a loner and on the margins socially within his high school. He's clearly a good kid and intelligent and handsome and all that, but we, the omniscient viewers get to see all those sides of him. His classmates just know him as that kid with the skateboard and camera who doesn't talk to anyone really, is incredibly awkward, and gets beaten up from time to time by the class bully. Also, just because he's more socially adept than you were in high school doesn't mean that he's a cool kid. It just means you were really socially inept.

It was for me too. Redemption baby, its a powerful arc. Hear me out....what if they actually did an Amazing Spiderman 3, it's a Spiderverse flick where Garfield is the mentor to Miles Morales and they team up with Emma Stone as Spider-Gwen. Instead of Peter popping into Miles world, have Miles and Spider-Gwen come to Andrew's universe. He gets his happy ending. I think it would print money.

He plays basketball with the kids in Brooklyn. Helping a lady across the street. It'd be funny and cute that way. Andrew Garfield would do well there.. Add a villain also, that maybe relates to Andrew. He actually persuades the villain to change and get help. Idk, this is pretty ambitious too, everybody is typing about a newer story. The fact that they included how Gwen died and actually added in that the web broke her fall, but also her back, severing her spine is what killed her is amazing. I'm so glad they kept that in. She would have died either way but the fact that Peter, trying to save her actually 'killed' her is insane. I can only imagine this is something they would have explored further if the trilogy had gone forward. It's exactly like the comics. Would love to see Andrew handle that part of Peter's storyline. Very sad we never got to see the end of this trilogy. It was going in the right direction. They just fumbled everything else.

Andrew Garfield wasn't a terrible Spiderman. I loved his performance and honestly he's the reason why I became obsessed with Spiderman. The execution for the plot for both movies need work but it's not Andrew's fault. He was technically just being told what to do by the directing team. It's not like he wrote the scripts and it's not like he was in the board room planning out the plot of the story. I don't think he deserves all the hate. Reading the older comics from the 60s and 70s, I was surprised at just how egotistical and anti-social Peter Parker could be at times - he was more of an angry nerd as opposed to a shy one. The more I read I saw that was his arc. He would go from being a bitter young man to the earnest superhero we all know and love. With what Garfield’s Parker goes through in his movies, to me, his performance is closet thing we have to the character in the comics with that arc. So, I’ve always had a soft spot for Andrew Garfield’s version.
@TeamTowers1
@TeamTowers1 3 жыл бұрын
Honestly it's weird when you look at the 60's comics and realise that both Garfield and Holland's films are actualy a lot closer to them than the Reimi movies, albeit in different ways. Garfield is as you said the "angry nerd" while also capturing the snarky trickster element of the character. While Holland's wacky teen comedy that occasionally gets interrupted, by superheroics, is pretty inline with 60's Spidey stories.

The Peter Parker in the beginning of this movie starts out as a selfish bully with a power trip, and it feels wrong."_ Now see, I cannot agree with that. This is actually straight from the original comics. When Peter got his powers he used them for his own personal benefit and stated very clearly that outside his aunt and uncle he didn't care for anyone else. It was the death of his uncle that incited his change of hearth there. Here, a little bit more realistically, he only cares about revenge until Captain Stacy points that out to him in the dinner scene, at which point he realizes he's dishonoring his uncle's talk about responsibility and strives to be a better hero.

TASM were just weak and pointless, I’m glad they never made a 3rd installment. As for the Tom Holland movies I didn’t care for them… or not Homecoming, anyway. It was too “kiddy” for me

@@chriscarrera1172 the Sam Raimi movies aren’t overrated at all, if anything… the first movie was underrated because it always gets overshadowed by the second movie. Both 1 and 2 were equally great… I agree that 3 was kind of embarrassing and ridiculous, but still better than Amazing Spider-Man. The only thing the first Amazing Spider-Man movie had going for it was that it was better than it’s sequel. Both all in all, both movies were crap and I’m so glad they never made a third movie. Ain’t no way Amazing Spider-Man was better than the first movie Sam Raimi movie! If you don’t think the Sam Raimi movies were good there’s something wrong with you… there’s so many great things about them, Uncle Ben’s line “With great power comes great responsibility,” Willem Dafoe as Green Goblin, Aunt May’s line “I believe there’s a hero in all of us,” the train scene and the hospital scene. What annoyed me most from this film was how the trailers and posters always made The Rhino seem like a major threat and character in the movie, despite how little he's in the movie for. They hyped up the fight between Spiderman vs. Rhino so much before this movie's release only to be completely blue balled by the anti-climactic finish between the two characters. We'll sadly never get to see what a 3rd installment of this particular Spiderman franchise would look like.

I will die defending the Andrew Garfield universe....I know there were some things that weren't "great, or whatever", but his portrayal of Spider-Man was excellent to me...the mixture of the emo-kid with out of control emotions to the wise-cracking Spidey we all love worked really well, and gave a humorous edge to an otherwise gritty, dark story. Also, TASM 1 has my absolute FAVORITE Spider-Suit ever....super textured (like the Man of Steel Superman suit) and a little on the darker side of the spectrum (plus the eyes were black in the first movie...I LOVED that). I felt the skateboarding and the hairstyle was just an attempt to modernize the Parker side of the character (remember, nerdy is the new sexy) to make him a more contemporary "nerd" as opposed to the "Urkel/Screech" type nerd most people think of in a movie or television show...Andrew was a WONDERFUL Spider-Man, and I hope to get to see him don the suit a few more times. I honestly thought that the Venom universe was going to be related to the TASM series....I thought that would have been a nice little retcon...finding out that Eddie Brock lived in the same universe as this version of Spidey.

He liked the felling that happy ending gave him and realized he would never get his uncle ben back, but he could help prevent other peoples "uncle bens" from dying. This is why the murder plot is dropped from here on, he has moved past it and has officially "become spiderman", accepting his responsibility. The glasses nitpick is funny, because peter in the og comics also wore them for quite a while after he got bit by a spider. He only stopped using them after flash broke 'em in issue 8. Also, wasn't Captain Stacy supposed to be right in that scene? Because of that conversation Peter realised that his actions, up until this point, were selfish, so he stopped going after uncle Ben's killer and actually became a hero. Also, again, Peter in the og comics was also a fucking asshole, up until his uncle died. He believed that his aunt and uncle were the only people who loved him, so he thought he had nothing to give back to the world. But to be fair, Andrew's Peter definitely had a good heart from the beginning, since he stopped flash from bullying a kid earlier on in the movie. I believe that Andrew's Peter is supposed to be another take on the nerd character. I had just revisited the movie and it's not the classic "broken glasses, only loves books" kind of nerd we're usually looking at in old movies and how it's usually stereotypically portrayed. It's more of an outcast/wallflower kind of nerd. He's more introverted, but he's not overly nerdy. You can see that he's trying to be more confident in the beginning of the movie, prior to being Spider-Man, but he lacks the real power to back it up. Though he's not the classic nerd that Stan Lee and Steve Ditko originally designed, I can see what Webb was going for and I honestly think it works in his progression as Spider-Man in this certain movie.

Yes these movies have flaws and im not going to sit here and act like they are great, but not terrible. The second one was subpar while the first one was average but forgettable. Decent cinematography for action scenes, great webslinging, and Peter is meant to be a loner here instead of the nerdy type, which works. Him being Spiderman for revenge did tick me off until i realized that it was the entire point of the scene. He only becomes “Spiderman” after the table scene with Officer Stacy in which we are supposed to agree with his points. Peter learns from it and becomes the Spiderman we love. The best thing about TASM and why it's my favourite spiderman is Andrew Garfield. He's an amazing actor. Every single emotional scene where Peter Parker is just being a down to earth human with problems is where I feel like he really shines through. When it comes to emotional moment and it's just silent where the actor ability is being tested, Andrew is probably the best one compared with the other 2 spidermen. However, after watching no way home. The last few minutes of the movie truly made him the best Spiderman.

I'm glad someone is finally seeing the Amazing duology (or atleast, just the first movie) for all the good that most chose to ignore and look away from. The first movie has some REALLY good scenes that aren't talked about enough like the kid wearing the mask and how Peter had no hesitation to take the mask off and tell the kid his identity, that random kid? he's still out there, he knows who spiderman is, but it's a promise between buddies not to let the secret out. And ofcourse in the second, when he helps the bullied kid. Andrew made an amazing Spidey, the banter was very hit or (mostly) miss in the second movie but I'll be honest, I forget Tobey's spidey ever made any banter (but I know the comedy was present and remember most of it fondly) aside from the 'Did your husband make that suit for you' joke. Tobey made for a much better *Peter Parker* but I feel where Andrew really shines is playing *Spider-Man*. That's not to say Tobey was a bad Spidey, nor am I saying Andrew was a bad Peter. Andrew just portrays the childish glee of becoming the Spider as a highschooler who hasn't had anything interesting happen in life and now he has tons of opportunities opening up, oblivious to the depression he'll face due to being Spiderman. While Tobey embodies the opposite, he embodies the Depression that is sadly very common with Spidey nowadays in the comics, where they make him tragic just to make him tragic. But Tobey's movies did it in a convincing way when everything tumbles down. Overall both have their own unique greatness and I would've loved to see how Peter would've grown in Amazing 3 but, ya know. I feel like Electro would've been MUCH better if they took the Spectacular Spiderman approach (where he got the name Electro via a Spidey banter like you said), and his suit is more of a safety thing than a silly costume while his body is pure yellow electricity. That, and there he geniuenly freaks out and tries to hide his face and act normal, getting coffee, albeit his anger issues do not help with his electricity going haywire and spidey just auto assumed he's a bad guy and kicks his ass, showing how he's still young and reckless and he goes on to regret being too fast on the trigger. While on the topic of costumes, design, and what could've been. Something about how the Lizard's CGI looked in the first movie was the biggest turnoff for me at the time, not the fact it was a reboot. Plus the fact he's naked and isn't even wearing the classic Coat, Black Shirt and Hulk Pants. Oh also I'm convinced the inclusion of so many characters and the absolute bloat that happened in Amazing 2 was the same interference as with Spidey 3: the Studio. 'Let's appeal to those who only heard of Green Goblin' was prolly their mindset with how rushed Harry was since they took their time with Lizard in the first movie.

SPOILER TALK ABOUT SPIDER-MAN 3: NO WAY HOME. DO NOT READ FURTHER IF YOU HAVE NOT WATCHED IT. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. After watching Andrew Garfield in No Way Home, I appreciate the consistency of the characterization and details of Andrew’s Peter Parker. When he mentioned what has happened to him after the death of Gwen Stacy and how he became vengeful and stopped pulling his punches, it strongly connects to how Peter handled his grief with Uncle Ben. Peter was extremely in grief and guilt-stricken to the point where he fell back to his old ways of being aggressive to his victims. It goes to show how Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man is an extremely flawed individual. He’s still human in the end. Which is kinda strange for me to say now that I would be open for Sony to re-open the Amazing Spider-Man Franchise and have one last movie with Andrew Garfield again to properly wrap things up.

THIS. andrews peter was the most realistic most HUMAN most RELATABLE Peter Parker. Not only the way his acting was, but the issues he had and the anxieties he had of what was going on in his life felt SO REAL. He's a human who doesn't have a clear sense of direction until he loses Gwen. Gwen WAS his direction, he always came back to her. He looks for answers he tries holding onto things that he loves because he doesn't want to feel the same pain he felt when his parents left him. He's a human. He's a man. He looked for revenge because of his uncle, he realized that wasn't what Ben would've wanted and knows that he can do better. He has the hope and motivation to keep pushing on to be spider-man because of gwen, but without her he feels lost and depressed. That speech that gwen made did not bring him back to normal. Instead it gave him a push he needed, but did not patch up that deep deep wound he has. No Way Home did a great job at presenting a tortured Peter. I just want to see where he goes from here on out. Weather it be in another crossover movie or maybe he gets his third solo film that he deserves. I just need more of Andrew.

When he saved MJ it seemed cathartic to him, like he felt he saved Gwen in someway. Even if she's not the Gwen he loves he saves her for a different Peter, it's nice to see that.

Andrew Garfield is actually my favourite portrayal of Spider-Man along side tobey (I alternate between the 2). Andrew can certainly pull off the socially awkward teen vibe very well, and whilst his interpretation of Peter might not be as great as Tobey’s, his version of spider man is absolutely on point, which leads to some of the best scenes in any spider man movie. It’s just a shame that Sony and the Writers kinda messed it all up, but I hope he gets some sort of redemption for his character in No Way Home. Also, I like how everyone says that Andrew looks too good to play Peter Parker when the current spidey looks like Tom Holland lol (not to diss Holland’s version of Peter cause he’s great, but still).

Love the Raimi trilogy for giving us the whimsy straight out of the comics, corny, off the wall, overall solid and charming comic book fun. Tobey is amazing and really conveys the conflicts and personality of Peter Parker. Also the memes. Love the memes. The Amazing movies are a lot more grounded, and I’m disappointed we didn’t get to see more of what they had planned for this series with all they had set up. Andrew Garfield is definitely different from Tobey, but I like how he’s a lot more subtle in how he shows he’s a loner and a nerd with his vocal delivery and mannerisms. Wish we didn’t bother with the parents subplot, I like Gwen a lot more than Mary Jane with her chemistry with Peter, and I’m really glad Garfield got another chance in NWH. MCU Spidey is pretty good, nothing else I can really say. A younger-looking Peter is really great, and I love Tom Holland selling how he’s just a boy filling in a huge role in a massive world. In a world with the Avengers, they nailed a Spider-Man to fit that universe. Into the Spiderverse is still head and shoulders above the lot in my opinion. Absolute masterpiece.

I disagree. As written, he is too snide to be Spider-Man. He let's things get damaged/destroyed just to tell a joke or give a sarcastic remark. Spider-Man is responsible, above all else he puts the safety of others first. His sarcasm is witty, but light-hearted. Garfield's is too far. It's not his fault, but that's how it be

@@nicripolas816 High school peter was not responsible in anyway. He let things get destroyed or let people get hurt because he believed it didn't matter, he only cared about his aunt and uncle until Uncle Ben was killed. Even after Ben's death Peter had moments of pettiness and lusted for revenge until he was confronted with the ideals held by his aunt, uncle, and close friends. You don't know Spider-Man at all. Andrew comes the close to being accurate

i grew up on raimi movies and the idea of spiderman producing web and shooting them from his wrist just seems natural to me, now that i understand the comics more it would make way more sense for him to produce them naturally if he was in a universe where he was a mutant instead of a superhuman.

Now that No Way Home has been out for a while, I want to mention how I loved the scene when Andrew Garfield managed to catch MJ. It was a complete recreation to the scene that happened with Gwen, but this time he was able to succeed where he had failed before. Then you see him getting emotional and beginning to tear up and MJ is the one to ask if he was okay. Loved that scene. No Way Home has it's problems, but when it hits, it hits.
