Hi Elanzi, I am 49 years old with Anorexia nervosa, I just wanted to say to you, you are a truly amazing inspiration for all those sufferers out there, you are a beautiful young lady with a beautiful sole, Your Dad gets a bit of a hard time with comments sometimes, but he truly loves you and being a Mother with a Daughter who also had an eating disorder, I can totally understand why he says the things he does sometimes, a lot of people just won't get it, or take it in the way that he means it,(I get it Dad,) it is a very difficult situation to be in, hats of to all of your family, they are amazing and doggies as well and I love your cat Leonardo, stay strong. xxx.

So young and so wise 💙 I admire you so much. I'm 38 and you are so inspiring. I actually think that focusing on food and doing all video about food it's not good but yours are different, they have something inspiring, you and your family. Your home is so familiar, they don't treat you like an anorexic and it's important that you all eat together, it's so touching. I struggle with anorexia for 20 years. I wish you all the best. You deserve for happy life. Just live and be happy. All life before you and I belive it will be life without anorexia! Your family is wonderful, you have a huge support. Your mum's laugh is so funny 😂😁 Take care and keep doing 👍👍👍 💪💪💪Thank you 🙂

You should get bagels from the bakery section so that you don’t know the calorie count and also don’t have the option for a skinny bagel! People will have a bagel and eggs and bacon so don’t think a regular bagel is too much!

Buying skinny bagels (if I heard correctly) isn't healthy in recovery ): No amount could possibly be 'too much'! Too much doesn't exist- especially not in recovery. If you want two bagels for snack then Alisha is right, have two NORMAL bagels!! Because wanting more means your body needs more and so tricking it into having the same amount but in two smaller bagels won't help at all. Skinny bagels were made for people trying to LOSE weight whereas your goal is to gain!

I think a problem elzani has in her recovery is she focuses on normal eating, like extinguishing food fears and eating spontaneously...but that REALLY can only be done AFTER weight recovery. Like, if you are in a medical position you need to gain weight, you can't TRULY learn normal eating at that time. You have to eat when NOT hungry. You have to eat like medicine, regardless of how you are feeling or body signals. This is why in ED recovery you are weight restored first and then psychological stuff is addressed after. I think a big limitation to her recovery is that she is focusing purely on psychological things like, fear foods, eating "normally" like participating in special events etc. But this stuff really can't possibly work until you are minimally weight restored, where your body hunger signals can start to even work properly, because you CANT learn normal eating until your tissue is minimally restored. While underweight you will ALWAYS be hungry and food preoccupied. This will ALWAYS represent a fear of losing control, and reinforcement to restrict. So psychological "work" cant really begin until minimal weight restoration. I think it would benefit her to deal with medical reality of her condition as it is now, deal with calories as necessary of her poor health, set a target calorie goal of like 3500 or more, and when weight is restored, transition to more psychologically focused work like this where she can learn healthy eating behaviors and extinguish food fears. Because doing this now, while severely underweight with a very messed up body is just not going to work. You are going to be PERPETUALLY obsessed with food, with fears of losing control, at this stage.
@plainlyjane65405 жыл бұрын
Since she has such a supportive involved family, and assuming she REALLY does want to recover (vs ambivalence / denial which is super common for ED pts, they may say they want to recover but they truly dont)... well a very simple solution that wouldn't require she deal with calories and weight: have her mother set a meal plan for her, that is sufficient to gain weight. Her mother can weigh her weekly, without her seeing the number. SHe will follow this plan. When weight is minimally healthy, THEN psychological work as she is doing now can begin, and have a CHANCE of being productive. Sorta, a mock ED recovery center but at home. But this is just, not going to work, or take excruciatingly long to achieve, because she does not understand she is wasting time in a malnourished condition where only trivial progress psychologically can be made. To really recover MENTALLY your nutrition and body tissue has to be minimally adequate.
@Ella-ps1lg5 жыл бұрын
Great comment. I saw a really good dietician last year who believed the same - intuitive eating is not appropriate in anorexia recovery until weight is restored. with hindsight, that was true for me! I love the youtube channel follow the intuition - she has a video called recovery eating is not the same as normal eating, and I constantly need to remind myself of that! - we can't jump from ED straight to normal without going through recovery!
@marieburkhead52725 жыл бұрын
Great comment...I agree.
@linagregoire11465 жыл бұрын
I think she is eating way more than she usually would you know considering she is in recovery. she's probably constantly full and it's not fair that you should be able to say how she should work on her recovery. you're not her doctors, you're not her therapist, and you're not her family, you are a viewer. That doesn't know anything except what Elzani puts online.
@linagregoire11465 жыл бұрын
none of you said you were a doctor so stop acting like you are.
@bangbutton83225 жыл бұрын
I have been watching you get stronger and healthier since December. I eat with you. I have many issues with food, mainly that I can't seem to digest or tolerate any of them very well and I can't eat in front of others. My doctor thinks it's anxiety related, and I'm hyper focused on what I eat. For this reason I've been developing fear around food, and some days I won't eat much at all. But when I eat with you, I feel stronger. I see you nourish yourself and I want to help myself, too.
