don't forget that recovery is not just about eating lots and gaining weight! You also need to "normalise" your thoughts and behaviour around food and body. Glad to see you getting better either way!

Yes! People tend to understand is just about food but food is just a symptome of this disease. In most case this is mostly related to emotions :)

Good for you Elzani. Half of overcoming a problem is simply acknowledging it, and then committing to a solution. There's a time for baby steps, and now it's time to take bigger steps forward. You really have come a long way, and I know you can get where you want to be. Just keep going...

the best part of recovery is being able to enjoy hobbies and passions and life without thinking about food all the time. What are you interested in other than this channel and food? You’re such a lovely person and I really wish we got to see more of what you’re like as a person and not just as a recovering anorexic

It's amazing that you've used Mumzani's cancer to inspire you to further your recovery - I had a similar situation a few years ago with my grandma and I let it throw me right back into my anorexia. I'm not surprised you have so many followers & supporters - you are completely loveable - you have so much to offer the world & I can't wait to see how your life unfolds

You're doing amazing! The main turning point in my recovery was telling myself that eating food shouldn't be 'A THING' I had to stop thinking about it or planning and just eat when I was hungry. You've got this!

you matter, beautiful soul. and your life matters too. just like your mum was strong enough to beat her illness, and worthy of being free of it, you are strong enough to beat yours, and just as worthy of being free of it as well. ♡ we all believe in you.

I am sure you can do it Elzani! I will do it with you because I even thoguh Ive been achieving things, I feel like deep down I'm still in my comfort zone and almost "avoiding" recovery because I am already feeling comfortable with the foods I'm eating now, so because those are achievements and I have already conquered those fear foods, my ED makes me settle... ugh anorexia is such a tricky and sneaky disease! HOWEVER, because we are mindful about it now, we can beat it!!!! letg's goooo! We can do this! you can do this Elzani!!! life is wonderful
@paxtonmcpherson5 жыл бұрын
I really respect your determination and insight Elzani. I think one important thing to realize is that matching what you eat with what your mum eats isn't a sign a recovery. Its definitely an important first step, but she is not in recovery, and she is also older than you so her metabolism naturally will be slower. I think you should try to be eating at least double what she eats day to day while you recover. I'm really wishing you all the best

@@MamaRoseto8 Exactly. I also wonder, whether all the people giving such "great" advice , apply it to themselves and their EDs. I highly doubt the majority do. Easy to give advice not so easy to do it yourself. Recovering from anorexia, is extremely hard. It's like being brainwashed. Very hard to rewire your brain. I have had anorexia for 30 years. I am not an expert. I have been to many recovery centres etc... i have never seen anyone completely recovery in a matter of months. For most people it's a long journey, but definitely worth it. It takes time. Elanzi is doing very well . She inspires me , and I am twice her age. Elanzi is amazing! I believe in time she will fully recover. Because, she wants to. She wants to beat this disorder so badly. That is the hardest decision to make. Well done Elzani. I wish you and your family nothing but the best💖

Hi Elani, Sending love from NYC! Just wanted to let you know that even though I've never had an eating disorder, I struggle with an anxiety disorder. I understand your approach of conquering your fears by confronting them. It's true that the more we expose ourselves to what we're afraid of, the less power it has over us. I think anyone that has crippling anxiety can benefit from watching your videos. Anxiety is difficult because it comes in different shapes and forms. A need for control can manifest in other ways, so I suggest that anyone with an eating disorder or anxiety disorder should work with a therapist. I think you've come very far from when I saw your first video. Thank you for sharing your journey!

So happy to hear that you are going for it and making changes, even if it is out of your comfort zone. I truly believe that if you make a visible change and keep getting better it will also help your Mum to heal as well as it will take worry for you off her shoulders (I’m a Mom and know that to be true). Your Mum is so amazing and you both need to heal together. God bless you both and I pray for you both. I also loved your cooking videos and think more cooking will also help you to overcome fears of foods. You are doing good and look forward to saying “Wow look at how AMAZING you’ve done”! Good job. Keep it up.

You have faced tons of fears...glad your noticing the positive changes and some improvements you need to make. Yes respond to your hunger, listen to your body and times when your unsure...this time is a great time. I can understand about feeling weak...I fed up with that myself...that's why you understand and inspire me because I'm and was where your at. It's frustrating...I see other things really matter not my ED, perfection and OCD. I love you. Yes great things have happened so far...you get sooo much support...yea your body is your vesel, your temple...I think that too...it's been a while for me...I'm not doing exactly what I need to be doing, I need to listen more to myself, trust myself, allow myself, push more. Like you. You have chilled out but your also taking responsibility all the time, your saying it! Hell yeah, cheese toasties if you want it and are still scared of it, have it! I honestly thought at the beginning when you said people have been asking...you were going to say Yes you're in therapy , not Yes you have a PO box for people to send you things. IS this not using your channel which is based on your illness, to get things from people? Those were your words for people to send you things. I think that is messed up. Focus on your recovery, not being a youtuber. You are again repeating the same things from months ago...that NOW you are starting to REALLY change. Even the look on your mums face says it all. Please for your future get outside help. This proves you need more professional support. It's not just about food Elzani.

Elzani can I first just let you know I am your BIGGEST SUPPORTER and I love you with all my heart BUT it makes me so sad to see you keep going in these circles of doing so well and being so positive and really going for it and then that fizzling away and you start being hard on yourself and holding back and saying "this is it, its time to go all in, time for real recovery etc" let me say I don't want you to take any of this in the wrong way, you have done absolutely amazingly so far by yourself and you have achieved so much! but this is just taking far too long, I don't want to sound rude at all or anything I simply just want to give you advice cause I really care for you and I hate to see you doing this to yourself..but you really have done so well with eating more and challenging your fear foods etc but clearly something is still wrong and not going right cause I can not see you gaining weight tbh..and I know it is SO HARD and it is not a nice thing to have to do but there is no denying it or way of going around it YOU HAVE to gain weight to recover, it is vital, you can't recover and still be underweight. I know you know yourself you are still holding back and something still is not right, and I know you say you want to gain weight and you are doing the right things by eating more and challenging yourself but clearly you still are not eating enough and possibly being too active still as you would be gaining weight! it worries me you doing this by yourself, I know you have a wonderful family but I just don't understand why you aren't getting professional help? why haven't you considered it? tbh and this comes out of a place of love and concern, you do need professional help! your case is serious..and getting professional help will really help you to understand and overcome the negative thoughts and reasons why things haven't been working up to now, and it will stop you going through these endless cycles of doing well and then plateauing. I really really urge you to consider it. It can only be a benefit. it will speed up your recovery process and get you to a healthy and happier life sooner and will also reduce the likeliness of relapsing compared to trying to go it alone, as the psychological issues aren't being addressed and that is just as important, or even more so in my opinion to just gaining weight and being able to eat more. you need to be able to understand the reasons for this illness occurring and what makes you act on the thoughts and how you can come up with better coping mechanisms than turning to anorexia. I am quite early in my recovery journey and I had thoughts of wanting to do this on my own and considering it, but now I honestly can say I could not do it without professional help, yes it is nice to have a supportive family but they can only help you so much, and it is hard on them too! so it would be easier for them and you for you to share the load of this illness with a professional and that will ease the strain on your family a lot! It takes so much out of you to try and deal with this all by yourself and is bound to be so tough and draining, recovery is hard enough without having to do it by yourself! trust me that working with a professional can only benefit you, it will ease the load and stress off you being able to share with someone who understands. I apologise for this really long message, I really hope you take the time to read this and again I hope you do not take this wrong, please know it is all coming out of love and concern and It pains me to see you struggle :( 💞💞

@Mimi EXACTLY! we are seeing all this food she is supposed to be eating yet no weight gain? it isn't adding up so some sort or compensating has to be going on! i am not hating on her at all for it cause i know how difficult it is and I know she knows deep down she isn't doing enough but i just want her to be completely honest about it, i know its hard when you face so much judgement when you put stuff out there and that is scary, especially as someone who is hard on themselves which you can tell she is and she probably doesn't want to let us down and feel like a failure, but I wouldn't see it like that at all i would much prefer the honesty and for her to admit she is struggling and not gaining weight because we all no recovery is difficult and we all can see it any way! I just feel for her cause she keeps going in endless circles and i cant see it ending unless she gets professional help :/

They are very open and honest about weight gain and what you may or may not experience if you do decide to really tackle this thing once and for all. 3500 calories a day and counting right!Come on Elzani, we are all right there with you. We need to start a movement where we compliment other girls (family, friends, strangers) daily. Real compliments for real women. Let each other know how truely beautiful they are at every size and shape. With every disfigurement and every disability, we are all unique. Women everywhere need to regain their confidence, stop comparing and just shine from the inside out.
