This series is top notch I'd highly recommend and hope you catch all of it, Guy Martin is a propper legend of a bloke! I'd also highly recommend learning about Sir Frank's incredible story in F1, absolute Legend of the sport who built the team from nothing in the 70's. RIP Frank

Notice than when Lance Stroll's car came in after a crash that Guy was straight in with a spanner (wrench) helping take the damaged parts off it, he was right in his element...

The ultimate team player.. .. a person who not only talks the talk, walks the walk, but will NOT do the task unless he knows he is at the very least as good as the next person.. and Guy Martin IS that person in everything he does

the ones you saw, on track, when they found out guy was doing pit stops, were all british racers themselves, some with incredible history,

David Couldhardt certainly knows who Guy is. He once did a special race in a Red Bull F1 car, against Guy on his superbike. If I remember correctly, David did 4 laps & Guy 3, but still pipped him at the line. The bike has better acceleration off the line, & top speeds were probably even. It's the ability of the F1 to not slow down for corners, but go almost flat out that makes the difference.

My dad worked for Honda, they had some of the factory crew working with one of their the touring car teams, he said the guys who did that it was a year long commitment. I can imagine f1 is another level again, the touring car team only took the fittest and smartest engineers from the factory.

Depends on what era of touring cars. During the super touring era..... THAT era of touring cars was another level

@@insertgenericusernamehere2402 He worked at honda for 30 years, and honda had two teams the main Honda team that was permanent full time racing team, but they also had a secondary team that did fairly well in the middle of the grid, they were the ones that used to use engineers from Honda uk at Swindon, It was a talent spotting exercise by Honda as guys who did well were bumped up to the works team.

@@lewisb85bloody hell he's seen the ups and downs of the sport then, Williams F1 team used to provide engines for Renault back in the late 90s so you can imagine how chaotic they had it back then.
@lewisb856 ай бұрын
@@insertgenericusernamehere2402 It wasn't just engines, Renault wanted to improve their position in the BTCC so they got Williams (who they were engine providers for in F1) to come in and help manage and restructure the team, part of it was they let the Williams engineers loose on the engines. It's funny because a lot of guys who were apprentices under my dad ended up in places like McLaren (both sports car and the racing side) and one of them now works in formula E. I was more interested in Aeronautical engineering so ended up in the RAF and later several aircraft museums, although I love motorsports.
