Middle schools are rare in the UK, where secondary school starts at 11, so it's common for there to be 11-18 year-olds at the same school. The disco isn't restricted to pupils of their school. The attendees have to be under 18, but the minimum age is whatever the organisers set it at.

I own a burger van on an industrial estate and pretty much deal with blue collar workers all day. Absolute top blokes for the most part. Was having trouble with the wind blowing my hatch down one day, and one of the guys came back with a steel rod he had welded a hook to the end of. Totally sorted the problem. He wanted nothing, but he got his breakfast butty free for a couple of days.
@bensmith16892 жыл бұрын
@ProudOfYourRoots I do get proper burgers in. All my meat comes from a local butcher. My burgers, bacon and sausages are all superb quality. It was the main reason I started my own van; I was sick of the shite served by other vans. As a consequence my ingredients cost about 3X what other burger vans pay. Those shitty burgers frozen are ~40p each. which answers your initial question. My fresh ones cost me about £1.30 each.
@trevorpaz34412 жыл бұрын
I did that for my first job when I left school. Worked for a bloke who owned a catering company that was selling pies/burgers/sausages rolls & bovril etc, at the local footy ground. Then I did the races with him after he took me on when I left school. We'd go to York, Notts, Beverley, Pontefract etc. Harder graft than most realise, but it's a great industry to be in - "People always have to eat" as my old boss would say. I'd like to own my own burger one day. More power to you mate.

My favourite part of this episode is when Gilbert briefly goes outside of his office and laughs his arse off and then comes back in calm, because I know a number of teachers from when I was at high school who would've done exactly the same thing! One example is when a friend of mine back-handed someone (who was annoying him) which caused the slap-ee to cry so he reported my friend to the head of year (the Gilbert-like), the teacher told him to stop being such a wimp and told my friend not to do it again! lol

In the UK you attend Primary school from the age of 3 to 11. You attend High School from the age of 12 to 16, at which point you have a few options: to stop education entirely, to go to college, or attend another 2 years of high school in a program known as the sixth form. This means you will be 18 by the time you finish. The boys are in sixth form (their first year I believe ) meaning they are 17

In Britain the schools go. Primary school ages 5 to 11. You start year 1 when you’re 5 and you end year 6 when your 11. Secondary school 11 to 16. You start year 7 when your 11 and end year 11 when your 16. In Britain you finish school at 16 but you have the option of staying in school for another two years. This is called the Sixth Form (years 12 & 13) and is usually what you do if your planning on going to university. The boys here are in the first year of Six Form so they’re between 16 and 17.

Traditionally, in the UK, these guys would be in what's called "the 6th Form" (no idea why that name) which was optional to study at and really only for people wanting to then go to University. Years ago, MOST people couldn't wait to leave school so the majority left BEFORE this at 16, to get a job or do an apprenticeship. Recent governments have encouraged many more to go to Uni so many more stay for "the 6th form" (or more recently, dedicated colleges instead of those extra 2 last years at your school)

Primary School ages 4 to 11, Secondary School ages 11-16. Most Secondary schools now have a department for A Levels where as when I was in secondary school if you wanted to do A levels you had to go to a local college. As the majority of secondary schools if not all secondary schools now have an A-level department you can stay in Secondary School from 11-18 now but there is also the option to leave at 16 and go straight to work or do an apprenticeship but education has changed a lot since I left school in 1998. So yeah basically everyone at the party is under 18 but over 11 they are all what you would call high schoolers and we call secondary school because we don't have middle school just primary school and secondary school.
