Lol, I tell people I pulled the golden ticket out of a wonka bar. I knew it was an old tele . . . But WOW not one of the fabled “lost black guards” let alone a Nocaster it was truly amazing 😎✌️🎸

The Nocaster sounds righteous and like an old Tele should. Played to death too, usually meaning it was one of the good ones!

This is why when there's a super clean vintage instrument, I rarely go check it out. Fender sent out guitars then just as they do now, there are some tone turds people never bonded with, and to be fair it can't be easy for Fender to really know how great guitars are the day they are born, guitars may need to settle in.
@rolux48534 жыл бұрын
The Nocaster sounded really hot! Maybe the guy on the pickup winding machine had a few more drinks than usual the night before and let it run a few extra rounds before he remembered he should turn it off.
@OFR2 жыл бұрын
@@j_freed Exactly - playing it for decades may actually help vibration and resonance. The unplayed guitars are cold and new-sounding.

@kierenmoore32366 жыл бұрын
Yeah, that Tele is a standout. Did they change the windings on the pups over those years ... ?
@sayrerowan7345 жыл бұрын
I agree. Thought it was the best sounding of the three on the bridge pickup.
@Squall65753 жыл бұрын
@@kierenmoore3236 I believe they did change things up every year as they perfected it. This may or may not have included the actual winding, but I wouldnt be surprised. Not to mention the early days meant they were all handwound which could mean a lot of variation between models of the same year!
There's something about that tele tone. It just gets me in all the right places.

What we're talking about here is TONE DECALS... the specific headstock resonance induced with particular early Fender decals of the Broadcaster, the clipped Broadcaster decals version and the revolutionary changes later brought forward with the all-new Telecaster decals, these inspired innovations of Leo each all lent a specific sonic signature not captured elsewhere... and while Fender Custom Shop has come a long way to recreating that Decal Mojo, in all three headstock decal series, the originals still shine in a unique way.

All sound great and quite close to each other...only thing missing is the middle position twang: doesn't these guitars have the old "blend" circuit in the bridge position? Very cool tones may be found there...another little trick is to find the sweet spot between position 1 and 2 with the old three way switch, just like an old Strat: it sounds different from the blend circuit, but basically you have always both pickups in parallel... :)
@grandpasnocaster236 жыл бұрын

How do you demo the sound of three classic telecaster and not use the middle position?
@ardskoay3 жыл бұрын
I think it’s because they didn’t have a middle setting yet. It was bridge and two neck settings.

The dark circuit is in neck position “we” did film using it but it didn’t make the final cut. the middle position is the neck pickup and the bridge position is the bridge pickup with the use of blend nob to bring in the neck pickup while they filmed the use of the bridge pickup, the use of the blend nob wasn’t *heavy sigh* most people think it has a tone nob 😎✌️🎸
