Does anyone else put on an emily artful video and just draw while listening to it? It gets me in an “artsy” mood and she inspires me. 🎨💓

this weekend i discovered your channel and I watched your stories, your pep talks, basically 70% of your videos and I felt very inspired to draw more since I guess I used artblock as an excuse to not try to draw, when really I just didn't have enough inspiration to push myself to start drawing again and guess what! I suddenly got so many ideas while doodling hopelessly and even finished two drawings in one day which is very rare and I even learned some things about myself. Thank you for being a great inspiration to me.

I didn't know you before now and I'm watching your 1080p quality videos. What you say and what I see relax me and my anxiety that some come with arrogance to tell me "you can't do anything at all and there is always someone who will do better than you, so don't try, you suck anyway" I know maybe it's stupid to write this to you and you won't even read it, but thank you, I love your videos and you make me smile so much with your moments of irony during the explanations, you are truly wonderful.

Wow I just saw 2 videos and can I just say I'm in love. I feel like I finally found that great new friend who understands me and the how I struggle. I love how grounded you talk and the humour u put into it! The way u started this video by talking about the mindset is so relatable. After graduating I fell into a dark place and it took me a while to get to the slightly dark but overall light space again. I used and sometimes still beat myself up for not even finishing one sketchbook after graduation. What has become of me. But these words u used... idk... it hit me and it made me feel so okay about. Gonna watch the you are not a artist video now. But thnx. I'm already a fan!

I did a similar thing like the scribbling when I was a kid! :) I think we did this at school. You put random dots on paper and then connect these dots to form a shape. Then you use this shape as base to create an artpiece! :)

Revisiting this video because I'm going through a serious rough patch with my art. Issues with my mom came to a head a few months ago and I've now completely blocked her out of my life. I was struggling with my art before that but since it happened I've barely picked up a pencil. I'm trying to go easy on myself but sometimes I wonder if my art bone is broken for good.

I call it creative dementia. It happens to me if I've spent months on a project, putting all my heart and soul (and time and skill and materials) into it, only for the client to fuck me over in the final stage, refusing to pay and rather scrapping the work. It makes everything feel so incredibly pointless, the art part of my brain completely shuts down. drawing a triangle becomes a problem. But so far, thanks to the insatiable gods of doodles and hand-made bookmarkers, I've managed to crawl out of each every time, usually after a couple of months, mostly doing the same as you suggest: Trying to re-learns how to have fun.

Damn... I really struggle with the : draw what you want vs draw what you think you should draw... and that sometimes puts a huge block for me... like, I suck at drawing hands, so I need to draw hands, but they are so fucking boring... so I draw nothing, because I need to draw hands.... but I DONT WANT TO!! Waaaaa... I get through it, but there are a lot of stern words with myself that I have to have... anywho, helpful video, love your channel x

Emily explain your secret on how you made that arches hot press paper work. I hate that paper so much. Its the literal devil. Congrats to you for actually making a nice painting on it lol
@emilyartful6 жыл бұрын
Zane Robbins Oh my GOD YES. It's definitely a paper meant for layering and does not handle a bunch of extra water well. It wanted to pill when I was painting the skin. I had to let the paper get BONE dry before putting any other paint on it, otherwise PILL CITY. I was like "halp."
