Your positivity is so refreshing! I'm pregnant with my first child, and I've noticed that everyone always warns you about the bad things, but they rarely manage to put a positive spin on anything. In fact, the most positive advice I've received so far followed a great deal of warnings about how hard being a parent will be, and basically consisted of, "But it's all worth it, I promise." Not very convincing. I've never really loved children in general, so of course this all seems very ominous... lol. But I just love your perspective, and the fact that you seem to find the positive in every situation.

Em I loved this; never punishing your kids when you're angry is something I need to practise, I'm awful for taking the iPad away or sending Jasper to the stairs for timeout at the heat of a tantrum. Your winter boot story melted my heart, you're such a wonderful person lovely ❤

I don't normally leave comments and as you said I am not trying to win X factor with my story but, I have three boys same as you. And I have none of my own family near by, my dad lives in Essex and my sister lives in Australia . My mum actually died a few weeks after my third son was born. She had been sick since I was 9 and my sister and I always looked after her, when she left I had to do it alone, with kids in tow. So I have never had anyone to go to for advice on how to go about being a good mum, I use you tube for tips and tricks. Your channel has been really helpful and this video in particular has made me feel so positive. Even my husband has noticed a difference since implementing some routine into our day to day life. Your doing really well and should be super proud of what you are achieving. Thank you for your advice it's really useful.i would love to see some videos on effective but calm ways to deal with conflict between siblings! My boys are 7, 4 and 2. You can imagine !!!!! 😱😊 x

It is so good that you took your past experiences to be grateful for what you have today. Surprinsingly some people never overcome the past and see it as a trauma, instead of looking at it as an opportunity to grow and teach others. Love your perspective and that's really what it boils down to. How are we going to look at our lives--focus on the positive or on the things that are hard? It's all part of the package and like you said, at the end of the day we have each other and are so, so blessed. You have great tips and are a great example of good parenting. Thanks for sharing!

I really appreciate you sharing your hard childhood in terms of clothing and other material necessities (boots with holes, many socks, plastic bag..). My mother used to buy a used big shoes for me so I can use it again for years..We’re 7 kids & I’m the eldest. Thankfully my kids (I have 3 boys) wouldn’t have to experience our hard life before. Yeah, our parents way of disciplining us is not applicable for us how to discipline our kids..Now we need to be more calm, understanding, no yelling and of course no hitting. But to nurture them with love, with boundaries, with respect and kindness.

I have a 21 month old girl and I think I'm doing quite well- she's happy, healthy and energetic. But people love to comment, they say she's small for her age (I know that already) implying I'm not feeding her properly, she needs to socialize with other kids, I need to do this and that.. those comments get to me and makes me wonder if I'm doing ok after all 😪 makes me fearful about meeting and seeing other mothers. You're right, we need to avoid mum shaming, we should be supporting each other! I use the iPad too so that I can keep calm and get things done! But of course people tell me I shouldn't be giving her any electronic device.

Being a new mom to a two week old, your videos are so helpful! I love how you are honest about being a mom. My up bringing was messy and strict. So I really want to be everything my mom couldn't be. She was a single mom with two jobs, so there wasn't much love or affection in the house or understanding for that matter. However, I can't stop kissing and loving on my little boy. Such great tips Emily. Especially to just stop and breathe. Sometimes it's hard to do, but makes all the difference xx

This has been so helpful. I'm a lone parent and you know how you say you feel you're winning at life, I've felt like I was loosing. Having little support, no me time and only 1 mum friend has been hard. My son is a happy boy but Yeah, I think I need to lower my standards. It's impossible to be a perfect parent.

Thank you so much for this Emily. Sometimes when I haven't had enough sleep the night before, at around afternoon time I tend to dose off on the sofa while the kids are playing or watching TV. And I feel so guilty for doing that. Ur I just can't help, I tend to be so tired. but it's so reassuring to know that I'm not the only one and that that's actually quite okay.

Ahhhhh perfect timing 😩 had a hard day of meltdowns today! 💪 back in the game tomorrow after watching this, so many helpful things to remember. I really need to simplify things I always think I've got more time than I really have then end up like a crazy lady trying to keep everyone happy and fit everything in 🙈

I love your attitude. It's easy to feel like a victim of our pasts, but it's a lot harder and more fulfilling to be better and happier. I also feel like getting out of the house is easier, there are more distractions! And I agree with you, some quiet time is needed and yes I resort to KZbin when my little one is fussy and I need to get things done. It helped loads when traveling in the car and by plane. Love the video and no, you didn't ramble. It's all great stuff!

It's so true what you say about remembering the hard times. I had a pretty tough upbringing full of neglect. I am giving Jack the best I can and it feels amazing to be able to do that xxx
