Just writing notes, don't mind me 1. Be yourself. Be real. the right man for you will like all of you. 2. Prepare thoughtful questions 3. Job vs hobbies. "What do you do outside of work?" 4. Eat whatever you want during a dinner date. 5. Don't talk negatively about yourself. 6. Don't wear too much makeup. You can wear makeup, but don't go overboard. Let him see you for you. Be natural. 7. Offer to help pay. Thank him if he pays. Do what you feel comfortable with. 8. End the date at the date. Don't draw it out.

My boyfriend and I went for breakfast for our first date. We were interns at the same theatre, and we had really busy schedules especially in the evening, so breakfast made the most sense. I think it was a great choice for a first date. We had a set amount of time to have the date before we went into work, so in case it didn’t go well, it wouldn’t go on forever. And also, breakfast isn’t super expensive (unless you go somewhere really fancy) so I didn’t feel bad letting him pay for everything (which he offered pretty much right off the bat). I would HIGHLY recommend doing breakfast dates if you haven’t tried it already. They’re still some of my favorite kinds of dates to go on. And now it’s me and my boyfriend’s special thing ☺️

That is really sweet. For me, however, that would require me being more of a morning person. I don't know how I could swing that. :0)

I totally agree!! I went on a breakfast first date and it eased my nerves a lot knowing that if it didn't go well I could use the fact that I have to go work soon as a valid excuse. My best friend also went on a breakfast first date and she's married to him now!

Awesomeness. I love you guys together. Why is paying such a hot button subject? My *OPINION* on the first date whoever did the asking *SHOULD* do the paying. It's rude to ask someone out and expect them to pay. Never assume this is how it's going to go down though. I never leave home not prepared to pay for myself and I always offer to do so. On a first date if he says no, that's fine. But to me, at least putting money down says "I'm an independent woman looking for your companionship. I want to get to know you as a person. I can and will pay for myself. I am not out with you to get a free meal." Any subsequent dates I believe in either taking turns or going Dutch. We're in an equal society now. Dating is expensive. There's no reason men should have to absorb all the cost.
@addie-eileenpaige64605 жыл бұрын
I always go on a date or even out with a friend, I go with every intention of paying for myself. If he says he'll pay, I ask, "Are you sure?" and if he says, "Yes," I thank him.

Love you both! Follow-up question. Is it a "date" if the guy doesn't explicitly ask you on a date? Ex: he asks you if you would like to 'hangout/meet up' for an activity (ex: hiking), offers to pick you up, but doesn't make it explicit it's actually a date. Example Situation: You thought this was a "church friends/brother and sister hangout". You have a great time, and for some reason, you can't get him off your mind....you don't know why. You connected in a conversation talking about Christ and life while hiking. Then by God's encounter or the Holy Spirit, you run into each other again at church a week later during an evening scripture event. He sat next to you coming in late & after the sermon/event, he asks if you want to grab lunch together at a place you mentioned recently opened up in town that you love. He offers to pick you up again and at the restaurant, offers to pay for it, too, when you try to. You accept his sweet chivalry because you consider him your big brother in a way. YET this second encounter was super awkward. Like very awkward because you weren't really yourself - something happened earlier that day and it just kind of threw you off and you both run into a mutual friend there across the restaurant. He mentions he has to end a bit early to head to work after you being awkward - when the day before, he said he didn't have to work, but wanted to come in to help with something. You never really hang out again on a one-on-one setting and you get confused if it might - perhaps in his mind - it initially was a date or just a hangout/friend time.

Anybody having flashbacks of people who wear so much makeup it looks like they are wearing a face painted on porcelain? Also, call me old fashioned, but I am of the opinion that the guy should pick the girl up (from her house, where she is staying, etc.) and take her back there at the end of the date, ring the bell (don’t text her that the is there), and walk her back to the door (obviously this doesn’t work in some circumstances, but apply reason). Possibly just me as a guy but...

We have started to talk more about God and Marriage, I'm glad I have a man come into my life who wants God active in his life. I remember your video on saving yourself for marriage. I had a lady I work with tell me if I don't have sex before marriage a man won't marry me, I will not have sex before marriage and this man know that, the way he talks to me I feel marriage is less than a year down the road. This is really significant for me, I'm 64 and a trans woman, hey he's a great man

A wonderful tip I’ve heard from an etiquette expert was the person who suggested the get together or date should pay (although it’s wonderful to offer.) so if he asks you out to dinner, he would pay even though you should still offer, and if you say “hey let’s go bowling tomorrow” you would pay.

Great video you guys! I have a question for everyone in general - How long should you wait to date someone before deciding to continue dating them or moving on? My context is, I've gotten to know this guy who comes across as nice, friendly, a good listener, smart, hardworking...etc (i.e. on paper, he makes good husband material). It's been about 5-6 dates and while I'm comfortable with him and can easily talk to him, I just don't feel anything for him other than he makes a good friend. He has already told me he feels a connection...but can I make myself fall in love over time if I continue to date him, or is this fruitless and I should not waste each other's time by continuing anything...
@greenmonkey15285 жыл бұрын
Paula K in my opinion it would be very very hard & that’s why many women end up talking themselves into sticking it out and seeing if they will maybe develop feelings because we don’t want to hurt someone especially not when he has been so great and you like him (as friends). It’s really just not fair to let him believe you feel the same and let him be excited about the relationship. He deserves someone who is genuinely happy and excited romantically about him. Personally I would rather be single than date a guy who I was really smitten with but he just liked me as a friend & wasn’t really attracted to me or felt romantically for me but continued to date me anyway. I would be heartbroken when I found out (and those things always come out) but most of all I’d feel so so embarrassed and kinda betrayed bc I thought that person was being honest after that many dates. I recently had to break it off with a guy after our first date & it was so much harder than I ever imagined it could be bc he was so nice & literally everything on paper I could’ve handpicked but there just wasn’t that spark for me and it was even harder bc I had dug myself into a hole by accepting a second date at the end of the first one I just couldn’t bring myself to say no but I was surprised to see he responded very kindly and understanding and said he’d like to stay friends (which kinda made me feel even worse) but you can do it girl! It’s hard but it’s worth it you know treat others how you want to be treated good luck with everything 💖✨😊

@@greenmonkey1528 Thank you for your reply!! It's exactly what I'm thinking, especially since we all want to find someone who we are excited about and are interested in and that they also feel the same way about us.
