It is tradition to bring "palm leaves" (i.e. actual palm leaves or any long grass/plant), have them blessed, and even make them into crosses. And this comes full circle, for the ashes used on Ash Wednesday, are made by burning the "palm leaves" from last year's Easter celebration (people usually hand them to the parish office a few days before Ash Wednesday).

On the day of our first performance, all of us were at school for twelve straight hours. Because of those twelve hours, whenever I hear the song Country Roads, I start crying and whenever someone says onions, I just do a random pose. It is a long story, but 6th grade school musical was fun.
