Fun fact: if an unpaid internship in any way financially benefits a company, it is, in fact, illegal in the US. Unpaid internships can only legally be either shadowing someone doing the job (i.e. watching someone and them explaining what they do but the intern not working the job in any way) or menial office gopher type stuff (fetching coffee, refilling the printer toner, etc.).

Correction, fam: 'Menial office gopher type stuff' cannot be unpaid. The only way an unpaid internship can be legal is if the intern benefits in an educational capacity. Being an 'office gopher' is not educationally beneficial. The shadowing/watching type of unpaid internship is the only legal kind.

It's barely legal and you can sue. Unfortunately, you need money to sue successfully and most places can just fire you outright via right-to-work states or breach of contract. That's what happens when legal bribery (lobbyists, the oligarchs and corporations) pay to get lawmakers and judges elected. Doctors doing hospital internships get paid less than restaurant wait staff until their internment is over. Internment can also be unpaid by technically paying you then charging you for being an intern, so you end up with a $0 paycheck if they wish. There are lots of corrupt loopholes places can exploit if you are an intern. Legally you can take action but the blowback kind of destroys your chances to work in that profession.

Okay, but that last post can ABSOLUTELY be used as a solid piece of advice. If you ever accidentally hit or scratch a car in the parking lot and leave a note for the owner, definitely do what the OP did and refuse to send payment until they verify via photo/video that they own the car. Another thing I recommend doing is asking to see a photo of the bill from the mechanic to ensure they aren't overcharging you. And if you choose to meet up with them to pay in person, type up a contract stating that by signing this contact, they are confirming you have paid them the amount listed on the contract and that you are no longer liable to pay them any costs regarding the accident. The amount of people who use car accidents to scam people is just...disgusting.

From what I have heard KZbin is not that good about being consistent or fair with their use of demonitization, plus they are constantly tweaking the algorithm (sometimes without informing the community of said tweaks) so a lot of content creators have to play it safe and censor all swear words else they risk demonitization. Well, either that or the content creators just get sponsors that directly fund their videos.

As someone who animates as a hobby, the third post angers me the most. For even Pixar, a huge animation company with more than 500 animators working on a movie at a time, it would take around **2 years** to create a professional 1-hour 2D animated movie at 60 FPS. For one person to make it, it would most likely take around 10 years of nonstop working for 80 hours a week, for a somewhat decent movie at the lowest quality. It is completely ridiculous and has made me lose zen.

He refused to give me a straight answer so I (knowing full well he was stealing) persisted with my questions. To be fair, getting a $1 tip does feel like someone throwing pennies at you and telling you pick it up. I'm not a fan of tipping culture myself, and while I won't refuse tips, I would never feel annoyed or dissapointed for not getting one. That said, I work in a casino, and if you win five grand and give me two dollars in tips, it genuinely feels like you're trying to rub it in.

Alright, the casino one is no excuse, but let me put it another way. From the post, it sounds like tips are not the norm at that place, and some workers even refuse them. This probably means there is no way to tip with a card/online. So, the person has to tip with cash. For me, and probably a lot of people my age or younger, I probably only have at most, maybe $10 cash on me at even given time. And thats usually after my dad paid me back after buying something for him online or my grandparents insisted on giving me money. So, its not meant to 'rub it in', its "hey, sorry I can't tip more. But this is what I have to tip"

I worked as an intern in a really big company. The internship was mandatory in my university studies. It wasn't unpaid, thank god, but I made less than half of the minimum wage in my country, for 40h a week. My brother got a minijob that essentially paid him the same money for less than half of my worktime, yay...
