don't let ANYONE tell you not to share your reactions and pause as you need to. That's what makes your insights and contributions valuable - frankly, whomever says that can eff right off, because they don't understand. Keep it up, and keep strong - you're an amazing inspiration of determination.

Thank you so much, that means so much to my heart and soul, I can’t really put into words right now. I’ve always felt the same way when I watch other reactors, I actually really enjoy it when people pause and share whatever comes up for them, because that’s how we get the massive array of different perspectives and that we see in this community just around Ren as an artist, and it’s amazing. I did try to at least make sure I rewound it a little bit in some places here when I had to pause it pretty quickly, just to make sure we didn’t miss the transitions, but thank you for letting me know you really appreciate how the policy makes insights and contributions valuable. You’re such an encouragement, I really appreciate you stopping by!💕

Pausing is basically what a reaction is all about. If I wanna watch the whole thing in one go then I watch the original, period.

I second this strongly. There is no sustenance in watching someone looking like a dead fish with open mouth just saying "wow that was something" and ending the video. All who do not want a pause should see the original that they should watch anyway to support the artist.

Jacob, thank you from the bottom of my heart. I really love diving into lyrics, rhyme schemes, metaphors, all of that stuff, and when I stopped being able to read and write like I once could (have a college degree in English from spending 4 years doing just that, but Lyme et al. have really messed with my ability to do both), music is the one area where I was still able to connect with my love of words, which worked out well, because I’ve also used music to process things my whole life. There’s not a day that goes by that I don’t reference lyrics from AT LEAST 1-2 songs in mid-conversation with my husband, and I’m so thankful my brain somehow has managed to continue connecting with words via music. Finding someone like Ren, who is putting words to music and perfectly describing so many things I haven’t been able to quite tap into, myself…it makes the experience all that much more enjoyable. Thanks for coming along for the ride!💕

Thank you so much, Tyson, this really gave me a smile when I read it. I probably shouldn’t have even tried to give that explanation about pausing, but I was just trying to avoid having to deal with comments that complained about the pausing.😂 I seriously appreciate the number of people in this comment section alone who have told me that they don’t mind, and even appreciate the pauses, because that’s how I’ve always felt about others’ reaction videos, so I’m glad to know there are plenty of people who feel the same way. I really appreciate your kind words about my analysis, too. With Ren, I’m finding that his music tends to appeal to multiple aspects of my personality and lifelong interests, and life in general. I love being able to relate to the chronic illness and mental health side of things, and all that goes along with that, but I also really love things like rhyme scheme analysis and rap flow patterns, and I love literature and metaphors and analogies because I spent four years dedicating my life to get a degree in English literature, after a lifelong love of reading. So he really delivers on everything, and I know I miss references at times, but I really just geek out over this stuff.😊

I’m so glad you’re able to connect with the emotions even through a screen; there have been some times in life (not in these videos, just life in general) where I’ve been asked if I’m exaggerating or overemphasizing emotion, and I can honestly say I’m not. And honestly, I cant fake emotion even if I try, I’m really bad at it, so everything I share here is my raw, genuine reaction I’d be having even if watching it without a camera filming. I’m so thankful others have been able to feel it. I’m so glad to be part of this community, and can’t wait to keep going down this rabbit hole! Really appreciate you!💕

one of the most beautiful things about Ren is he spreads empathy, both directly and via his fans. The reaction community is really a special group of people imo. You are the first person reacting to this song and felt every word exactly as me. I know there are many people who felt it too, but I haven't seen it in reactions. And it made me cry even after I thought I was done with emotions when it comes to this song. It hits really hard and makes me desperate hearing someone describing exactly how I feel, but also it feels kind of comforting knowing that I am not the only one going through hell of being chronically ill and being treated like crazy/lazy/hypochondriac by doctors and people. So, just wanna thank you for everything you said in this video. Often I really need a proof that I am not crazy and you just gave me that. Thanks and hugs from Serbia. 🖤

Wonderful reaction. Amazing Becca.I think Ren is also commenting on how young, successful male singer role-models of his age have allowed themselves to be bled in the name of fame and profit and have ended up taking their lives. The past 5 years have been a risky time for Ren. The 'success' of some musicians has been about Christian prophet/martyr models. (i.e. Christ, Hendrix, Cobain, dying at 33). I'm longing for the time when these cultural iconic figures are no longer shadowing Ren's longevity. Hope I'm still here to hear the wonderful songs and films he produces in his 40's! (Ren's 66 year old dad).

Fantastic reaction. Ren is a terrific actor, in addition to every other massive talent he possesses. I've been lucky and haven't suffered the way both you and Ren have, but even so, your take on this piece is EXACTLY how I hear it. The frustration and rage of not being heard when you're so desperate for help, and the despair of being stuck in that meat-grinder of a system. I got Lyme in TN. It's everywhere. IMO Ren sees the system that failed him is the same system that, writ large, is failing the planet. And he's highly self-aware, so he knows that while he's a victim of the system, he's also de facto a part of the system, being a human and a member of society. It's a total existential quandary, unanswered. He also explores this in Money Game P1 and Pt 2.

@@BeccaDoss You definitely are, and I can’t imagine how much these videos must take out of you to do! I don’t have Lyme, but I have MECFS brain fog often, and there have been far too many times where I’ve tried to remember something until a commercial break and then it’s just gone forever. Becca, where can I get that wide headband? In slightly cooler weather a full knit cap is a bit too much. Love your reactions! Keep moving forward and know that we love you. Regarding the video, I love how the music slightly drowns out the actual conversation, which really captures the thoughts in our heads drowning out real world interactions. We're focused on our pain and illness, whether mental or physical, and we can't be fully present. Genius.
@BeccaDoss Жыл бұрын
In reverse order: Yes! The way that background vocals and instrumental drowns out a lot of the spoken conversation really drives fast imagery home HARD. The level and layers of detail he puts into these videos is amazing. Genius, indeed. As far as the headband, I wish I could give you a helpful answer, but I don’t think it’s what you’re looking for. I’ve had a headache literally every day, no exaggeration, since January 20, 2013, and for most of the past decade I’ve had to wear a cold pack on my head, usually 24/7, just to keep the pain at bay. So that’s actually a cold pack with individual little reusable ice cubes in two different rows. Not sure it would help you out in cooler weather, and I’m sorry I can’t be of more help! I used to only have ones that looked like obvious medical products, but I found these black ones ~6 years ago and for the last couple years, they’re basically all I wear. And they’re not nearly as obvious as the ones that are white and blue, etc. (the brand is Headache Hat, and they actually have a few different designs; I have some with 3 rows, some with 2, and one with a single row. I’m never without them. Can’t afford to be.) Really thankful for your continued encouragement and support, I’m really loving this community and journey!💕

I’m so glad you enjoy and can resonate with them, Sean, that’s the reason I share anything. To just help people feel connected to something, whatever it is they need in the moment. This is definitely a cathartic experience for me, and one I’ve been extremely humbled by, because I NEVER have experienced such a supportive online fan base/community. He really has built something so special around his art, and it’s awesome to see. Your continued encouragement means a lot.💕

I've watched so many reactions to this song and yours is by far the best and most insightful. I've been ill with M.E/cfs for decades and bedridden/horizontal with it for the last 6 years and the psychologisation of my illness has been as destructive as the illness itself. (We'd have a cure/treatment for it by now for a start). I love how you really understood the environmental references in the song too. Oddly, most reactors just don't pick up on that, for some reason. I didn't realise how much I needed someone like you to do a reaction like this. Thank you so so much! 🙏❤

I really appreciate your reaction because it really seems to me like you and Ren have a very similar history of contracting this disease but having it diagnosed as a psychological condition when it wasn't and the struggles of trying to find a way to get to the truth and find a way to make your situation better. Another great reaction Becca. I love your reactions but it makes me so sad that so many people have to suffer and go through these things, simply because they are not believed to know their own damn bodies. I have been through it too, since the age of 20 when I found out I have an old person's arthritis that started in my spine. (Osteoarthritis not rheumatoid). It has slowly taken over my body(37 now) in so many ways, but because of my age, was never taken seriously. It has caused so many other things going wrong in my body it's ridiculous. But you and Ren are a bright light to those of us that know that struggle so thank you. Can't wait until you watch his video Crutch, but bring tissues lol.

Usually I don't like so many pauses, because the pauses and the commentary is often just not 'getting it', but your analysis, genuine understanding and heartfelt reaction is such a breath of fresh air. Its awesome to watch. Although, as you said about parts than make you feel uneasy in your reaction, also gives a sense of unease because it is just such an emotional response and we are witnessing you bring up uncomfortable emotions too and it feels very intimate. Hey Becca! I've been watching your reactions to Ren's videos, and I think your perspective is really helpful as someone who has dealt with chronic illness, and who has seen the frustrating side of the healthcare system. I'm going to comment on the latter bit here, because I think it's important that there is discourse between people like yourself, and healthcare workers like me. I really understand the framing that the medical industry is just a machine that churns patients through rather than actually listening to them. In a lot of ways that's true. No matter what part of the industry we work in, we are trained to follow sets of protocols that are based on the prevailing scientific consensus of the time. We aren't encouraged to experiment or think too far outside the box that our training provides for us. That is to your benefit and detriment, because it means that we don't have very much license to experiment in ways that would seriously harm you, but we likewise can't experiment in ways that would help you. The human body is extremely complicated. We can fix broken bones and ruptured blood vessels fairly reliably, but when you get into neuropathology and psychopathology, you're dealing with a tangled web of illness, symptoms, treatments, and cures that can take decades to unravel for any given individual. There is the problem that some workers are just there to get paid. Some people go through the motions, and don't actually care about you as a patient. But a lot of us do care, and we are still hamstrung by the complexities of your case, our lack of knowledge as an industry, and the restrictions of our training and scope of practice. I want nothing more than to fix the problems of every patient that walks in my door. But sometimes it really is a question of pushing pills until one works, as people who have found eventual success with the right anti-depressant can attest. I'm someone who has been a life long sufferer of a binge eating disorder, depression, and anxiety. I see you. Your suffering does not go unnoticed by me. I hope that my reaching out does at least a tiny bit to restore some faith in healthcare professionals. From one human being to another, I want us all to find health and happiness.
@BeccaDoss Жыл бұрын
David, I took some time to reply to you because I wanted to make sure I had the brain power to say what I wanted to say, and to give you the response that you very clearly deserve. I’m still not sure I have the right words, but I’m gonna do my best. I first want to say thank you for the work that you do, and thank you for going into this profession with a very clear heart of wanting to help and heal people. I have no doubt in my mind that most people who enter the profession legitimately want to help, I’ve just had one too many experiences where I’ve seen those doctors push the side because the ones who are in it only for money, or only to make a name for themselves, or only to push medication‘s because of pharmaceutical companies, And that makes me really sad, actually. I am very fortunate to currently have some very amazing doctors and medical professionals that I’m working with, so I hope that my reactions and commentary here don’t come across as me attacking the medical profession and doctors as a whole, because that is absolutely never my intention. I literally would not be alive if not for some of the great doctors that I have had, and it’s very clear to me that you truly care about your work and every patient that you see, just based on the words that you shared here. So I wanted to thank you for sharing so much of your heart and mission as well, Because some people who have had negative experiences don’t end up being as fortunate as I have been to find some really great practitioners over the years, and I hope that if anyone in that position sees your comment, they’re able to have some of that faith restored a little bit, too. Reading your comment almost brought tears to my eyes, because the last thing I want is for any medical professional who is truly compassionate, caring, and desperate to help (even if their medical schooling isn’t designed for learning how to better help some of these more complex patients) to feel like I’m making a blanket statement that all doctors etc. are bad. I 100% do not believe that at all. When I say I appreciate you taking time to share everything that you typed, as well as taking time to watch some of my reactions to the songs of Ren’s, I mean that from the bottom of my heart and soul. That end of itself shows me that you are a much more caring compassionate practitioner than the bad apples I’ve encountered, who often just tend to be louder than the people who are in it to truly helping try to heal. I can feel your message and your mission in your words. I also know that even the best medical schools can’t be on the cutting edge research of everything, so I’m not even really complaining about the difficulties in working with complex patients. More than anything, the anger that I feel is directed at the doctors I have encountered, and that several of my friends have encountered, who have done nothing but laugh in their face and dismiss their very real concerns because it didn’t fit a very narrow preconceived notion of what they thought was right, and therefore they just try to throw pills to put a Band-Aid on symptoms. I’m also not anti-medication, whether for physical or mental health, I just don’t like the way that a lot of those types of practitioners I mentioned to him to be happy with throwing a Band-Aid of a pill at someone, and then when it doesn’t work, just continuing to stack more prescription medications on top of it. Dealing with Lyme automatically makes it difficult to navigate the medical field, because the CDC literally tries to deny the lift reality of millions of people because they know that it would cost too much to have to pay for care and treatment for the people that are sick from Lyme disease and co-infections who often went undiagnosed for years if not decades. But again, I want to thank you for the work that you do, and for your very apparent heart to help humans heal, even if you don’t have the exact answers at a particular point in time. Thank you again for taking time to type all of this out, I really value your perspective and appreciate The detail with which you shared. 💕

From watching your moving reaction to Hi Ren, I am very impressed by how you used your own experiences to not only draw parallels, but to offer insight I had previously not thought of. That's the beauty of collectively discovering new artists via reaction channels. It allows you to take a fresh look at music you have only a passing aquaintance with, often foiling spotify's algorithm, serving up a whole new genre. As for Ren, there is nothing he can't do, from playing piano in a railway station, to acting his butt off as a modern travelling bard in the 'Jenny/Screech/Violet trilogy'. I would definitely take a look at the live version of "How to be Me" if you liked his Chinchilla duet.

Great reaction Becca. No-one minds the pauses if you have something to add, I can assure you. I think a lot of reactors just pause so they don't get copyrighted and mumble a few words of how great this is, and people are bored of that. But you genuinely add to the reaction by articulating so well how much the song resonates with you. I think we all can relate at least a little bit to Ren's struggles, that's what makes him such a voice of the times. But for those who can more closely relate to Ren's struggles, it's heartwarming to see such a connection and provide a bit of hope that they are not just a lone voice in the dark.

Great insight once again! And please, keep inserting those pauses to add your take on the music you're reacting to. "I've been screaming, I've been shouting, but I never make a sound" also seems to allude to him bringing up concerns with his therapists, and feels like they weren't listening. The "psychologist" in this song seems to cut Ren off as if she needs to get her point out without listening to him; this also links to your catch towards the end of the song.

Chalk Outlines has already been recorded, I’m just waiting for health to cooperate so I can edit and upload it. I’m so glad you’ve fallen down the rabbit home of his music and that it’s been helpful for you-I can’t wait to get into even more of it, including the wide variety of genres and style I know he covers. So thankful you’re here, and your support on this little channel means the world to me! Looking forward to connecting more!💕

Once again your reaction amazes me. I know what being mis-diagnosed feels like. Took them 18 years to Diagnose my MS

I’m so, so sorry you had to suffer for so many years before they actually found an answer. That is never okay. I’m glad you have an answer now, though I know the relief of having an answer also comes with a lot of pain and uncertainty about that answer and life in general, so I’m holding space for that duality of emotion. I hope you’ve been able to get to a place where it’s managed as best as can be. And I really appreciate you taking time to share this.🩷

Fabulous reaction once again! For a lighter listen but a song that shows off his flow, I can’t wait for you to react to The Hunger!

Thank you so much, Tracy! I recorded Chalk Outlines a few days ago, but once I’m able to get that edited and uploaded, I was actually planning to do The Hunger next! I’ve heard a few people say her goes off with the rhyme schemes and flows in the one, and I’m honestly buzzing with excitement just thinking about it (or is my nervous system just in the fritz? Who’s to say?😉😂).

Fantastic reaction Becca. Sad that you have such a great insight to the track but it adds such a great perspective to this song. Lots of Ren's tracks mentioned by other commenters include references to his struggles but are not as heavy as this and Hi Ren. In fact, Ren drops more Easter Eggs than the Easter Bunny throughout his catalogue. Tons of fun stuff as well. Looking forward to following your journey with Ren and The Big Push Take care. Best wishes from the UK

I’m really looking forward to digging into the wide array of music he has out there, I have a feeling I’m only going to love him more and more, and I’m blown away by how supportive this community/fan base it. Unlike any other I’ve seen. Really appreciate your support as I take this journey!💕

well, i wish you all the best and health and luck and better doctors, but please don‘t stop so often. it‘s really good having you picture us the reality of lyme-disease as you had it, but not after every 5 seconds, because after your first emotional explanations it‘s clear and we are ready to follow ren because he explains the same issues through his music and own experience. see, we hear the same like you and we know that you can hear it as well so there‘s no need for you to repeat what can be heard after every few seconds.

Hi Becca, one of your best Ren reactions yet! I took the last line a little differently, possibly because I've seen his other work and there's a lot of theme overlap. I think the _"while I'm bleeding, I'm the reason, cus I'm doing the same"_ is referencing that, whilst he's just said the world is sick with greed and commoditisation, he's also commoditising himself. I think this makes more sense after viewing _"Money game"_ (Parts 1 and 2) in which he identifies that we are all complicit, we're all part of the same 'money game' BTW, if you're a rap nerd you MUST check out : "losing it" _(So many amazing flows, a real showcase and lots of humour)_ , "The hunger" _(a personal statement piece)_ and "What you want" _(super-happy, feelgood retro hiphop)_ And... back in the MH vibe : "Genesis (live video version)" _(A very metaphor-rich piece about personal pain and his frustrated beginnings)_ ... Ren can really "RAP" rap ... it'll surprise you ; ))))) Dammit, why can't I subscribe twice? You never cease to amaze me. Thanks, keep being you!

I totally agree that’s another layer of meaning for that last line-thanks for taking time to share all of this here! Definitely looking forward to digging into Money Game 1&2 in the future. Thanks for the insight! I saw you ended up finding my reaction to The Hunger, and I’m so glad you enjoyed it-a lot of people have been recommend Losing It, Genesis, What You Want, and Power, so the next time I’m recording any rap track, I may out another poll out on the community tab to help me decide the order. I can’t wait to get to all of them, eventually, but it’s just gonna take some time. I have a reaction to Dominoes filmed, and that was extremely emotional and cathartic, so I was thinking about doing another fun rap track after that, but depending on how I’m able to edit, etc, my next one may have to be his new track dropping, which I have NO DOUBT is going for be straight FIRE. Really appreciate you! Your last sentences made me smile.😁

Wow, I love love loved your reaction, one of the uppermost best I've seen, you are a very special human being, extremely aware, heartfelt, empathic, compassionate woman, you are a real human...Stay you....Stay aware...Stay true. I know you see the agenda, more people are....I came across Ren as I found an article about his Lyme Disease, as I have 'now' late stage Chronic Lyme Disease, (contracted 3 and 1/2 years ago now, I'm in the UK) MCAS, S.I.B.O, Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, and quite a few more to that list 😪 I'm still mostly bedridden/housebound, live alone with my beautiful 3 cats and it's so tough, I have lost faith and trust in the medical prof (I could say so much but I won't, I'll be typing a book here lol 😝) I'm so moved by your reaction, as you are spot on I feel in your interpretations, because of your awareness of that sector of this world due to your own Chronic illness. You too are changing lives and sending a beautiful ripple of truth, fuelled by your heart power out into the world and beyond, thank you for your service to the light..I know it's tough at times, to continue to be that light, I know this myself, I was a divine spark for many years (54 now) But these illnesses have ravaged me, and like you said 'sucked the life right out of me' I'm devastated about that. My friend even said my eyes don't sparkle like they used to 😭 I watched your reaction to 'HI Ren' also and that was another amazingly insightful reaction, thank you, I cried at both, what a release. I better stop here...In gratitude to Ren, and you for gracing our beautiful planet with your presence..Much love and goodness 💝💝💝

The break line breaks me too. Every fix, meds or whatever, give you hope and feels like it breaks you every more each time you trust. It's so sad. And it sucks, and I understand.

Wow... nice reaction. I get you, Ren is so interpersonal with his art. It sure does resonates well. I don't suffer from lyme disease but had a freaky encounter with CoV19 in 2021 that almost claimed my life, so I recognize the pain, being a human in recovery. Your personality is fantastic.

Thank you so much, I’m really glad to know you were able to enjoy it. That encounter with Covid in 2021 sounds terrifying, and I’m so sorry you had to go through that. I’m also very glad that you did make it through and are still here today. But I know that there are definitely long lasting problems that can come along with that, as well, especially if it was a pretty rough case, so I hope you’ve been able to find ways to feel better, or at least find moments of hope and peace amidst this life of chaos. I can’t put into words how much your last sentence means to me; after my most recent relapse with this eating disorder started in 2021, the worst it had been in 10 years, I really lost a lot of my personality and didn’t think that I had even started getting it back, so when I say that your comment on my personality means more than I can put into words, it means a whole heckuva lot more than I can even find an adequate adjective for. Like, you almost brought me to tears in a good way, so thank you for taking time to not just watch but type this comment. Really appreciate you.💕

Enjoyed the reaction, I can see your passion when you discuss your experiences and relations to the music ... stay strong young lady. I have found Ren's music very cathartic. You will enjoy some of Ren's rap. "Genesis "(deep), "Hunger" (fun Hip-Hoppy), "Losing It" (fun ... more EDM-ish). I think "Genesis"feels like Ren's true pocket. The two duet's with Chinchilla are very good, emotional: "Chalk Outlines", "How to be me", both off these have deep back-stories. Keep on keeping on.

Thanks Mike! I’m so glad my passion for all of this come across through the screen, sometimes I worry it either seems low energy, or the opposite: forced. But the truth is, I couldn’t fake excitement or sadness or anything else-I’m historically awful at hiding my true emotions, and also at trying to exaggerate them, so this is literally the same reaction I had of watching these with no intent to film. Even the explanations are what I’d pause and share with my husband, if I show him a video or something. All that to say, it really makes me smile that the emotion is able to be felt-I really enjoy the whole process, and Ren in particular just has SUCH a unique gift I don’t think I’ve seen from anyone else. Can’t wait to get into all of those songs you mentioned as health allows me to record and edit/upload! 💕
