I loved seeing how you viewed such a legendary song from a new and fresh perspective, always searching for a deeper meaning. The Sisters of Mercy are absolute icons that will live on forever and have a special place in my heart.🖤 Thank you, I'm looking forward to more of this!

Greetings from Brazil!! One of my favorite songs! Thank you!

Wow, it's SO inspiring how you look at "Lucretia My Reflection" and especially "the machinery" from a socio-critical point of view, considering how much major corporations and capitalism itself influence our lives, try to subduct the value of life and humanity itself and ultimately claim all power for themselves! And when you forge the bridge to the topic of art, considering how artists are being exploited and not paid adequately for the creations they enrich all our lives with, it makes so much sense as we are dealing with the purest form of art here!🖤⛓️⚙️ I'm absolutely spellbound by the way you always think outside the box when you analyze the songs you react to - not just sticking to the obvious subject matters, but making an effort to get beyond what is visible at first sight and seeing different layers of meaning!🖤💥 The Sisters and Andrew definitely deserve this heartfelt approach - legendary and iconic bands like this earned their immortal reputation for a reason and influenced thousands of bands coming up subsequently. I can't even express what the Sisters and especially undying compositions such as "Lucretia My Reflection" mean to me and my beloved subculture, which I'm part of since 2006. Yes, I definitely would have loved to be Goth in the 80's and 90's, because these were the magical decades that shaped everything thereafter - but it's still the enchantment of my life to experience the art from back in the days in 2023, and to be able to value and feel it deep in my heart. Something I wish everyone could do, as the mainstream is getting more hollow and vapid every single day, not being able to value grand creations like this anymore! The Sisters of Mercy are currently touring in Europe, so I think a delightful reaction like yours is a wonderful support of the gigs being played these days! And no matter what people are saying about the performance nowadays, this unique legacy will never be forgotten and I will always treasure Andrew's dark and danceable masterpieces as major parts of my daily life! Thank you for treating my request with so much love and attention again, I loved every second of the video beyond words!🖤⛓️⚙️ So let's keep going with the Sisters...✊️🇬🇧

Read the lyrics to (and watch) "Dr. Jeep". That song as aged a bit too well, sadly.

This song was actually written for Patricia Morrison (bassist). The band is still out there playing, but they way they do this song now is totally different (not that good). It was best with Patricia, the version they do now doesn't have the bass line, which is the song's foundation. I actually met Patricia around 1991 ( a bit over a year after leaving Sisters of Mercy). Yeah, she is tall! However, I can also attest to the fact that she is a total sweetheart and down to earth as well! We sat and chatted for about a half hour, just her, myself and a friend of mine who knew her and sprung her on me as a surprise. Yes, she was dressed for stage when I met her (likely on purpose). It was all arranged as a surprise gift from my friend who was founder and front person of one of the bands I worked closely with at the time. I will never forget it. No, I don't have pics or anything, I'm not really into that and it was private anyway.

Eldritch must've made a bet with someone that they didn't need a bass. An instrument that he prides himself on being able to write for...

Here in Brazil, an advertising agency recreated the late singer Elis Regina, an icon, in a VW advertisement in which she appears alongside her daughter, each in a car. And they sing the same song. The daughter is a singer too. Real daughter, AI mother. Crazy.
Next would say try Fields Of The Nephilim - Moonchild

So, what did your mom and dad say? Also Patricia Morrison is now a Mrs Dave Vanian. Check out The Damned, B.T.W. (Dave Vanians band) Key tracks New Rose, Neat neat neat, Nasty (Young Ones version, in fact check out the Young Ones full stop!), Smash it up (both parts), Grimly Fiendish, Shadow of Love, Elouise. Should give you an overview of their journey from Punk Trailblazers to Gothic romantic whimsey.

I love Sisters of Mercy so much! There's a metal cover of this song on Warrel Dane's solo album and it's amazing. Warrel was the frontman of Neverore which is a band you should dive to, the kyrics are intense, the songs intricate and Warrel's unique, deep, emotionsl vocals. He passed away in 2017. You might know Nevermore's guitar player who now is in Arch Enemy, Jeff Lommies.

In my opinion "Lucretia my Reflection" is one of the three most iconic Goth Rock songs of all time. The other two also being by The Sister of Mercy. "Ribbons" from their "Vision Thing" album and "(Amphetamine) Logic" from "First and Last and Always". Btw, the Sisters of Mercy never had a drummer. They used a drum machine which they credited as "Dr Avalanche". Also the Roman Lucretia and Lucrezia Borgia are two different people. Lucrezia Borgia was a member of the infamous Borgia family of late 15th century - early 16th century Italy. She was the governor of Spoleto and was purported to be a murderess who's method of killing was poison which she slipped into people's drinks from a ring on her finger. There is no concrete historical basis for the latter though except for accounts written by her enemies.

Yes! I had to pause the video near its start to check if anyone had pointed out that they've got the wrong Lucretia. I mean, the Wikipedia page for "Lucretia My Reflection" even has a link to the "Lucrezia Borgia" page. How did they make that mistake?

@@enterthecronic Doctor Avalanche and Andrew are the only consistent members of the Sisters. Andrew couldn't fallout with a drum machine. Although he may become sentient soon.
