There is no shame in tears of grief for fallen soldiers. As a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, I know the grief of losing friends to combat. Let me raise a toast: To absent comrades and fallen friends. Fair winds and following seas, brothers and sisters. OORAH!!!

THANK YOU for YOUR service to our great nation sir. My brother also served in the USAF for 22 years. Each time he told us he was being deployed to the Middle East, our hearts broke. We endured that for 4 tours and 7 years. I see first hand how that war affected him. There are still things even today that he will not talk about that he saw over there. Our military has not, does not and will never receive the gratitude and appreciation they truly deserve. He retired 5 years ago. He is a completely different person now than he was before he went to the Middle East the first time. Each time he went, he changed. Having seen what it did to him, I can’t say THANK YOU to our military vets and active personnel enough.

Very hard to listen too, impossible with out tears. This little 65 year old boy misses his Mom and his wife's Mom. We shared each other moms growing up. All our lives... And i loved her as my Mother in Law as much as my Mom. We lost them both two weeks apart.. They were best friends before we were born. I heard this in America and played it for Mom. Then had to play for both.. Thank you Empress... Siriah says. " blessings to you. My Sister "

What Deanna Crownover said.... Hear Vince Gill's version, knowing he wrote it, and sang it to his brother who passed away.
@snowflakehunter
@snowflakehunter 3 жыл бұрын
It was not really written for his brother. Vince wrote the song in tribute to the death of Kieth Whitely. He did not finish the song until after the death of his brother and felt the song was incomplete without adding one additional verse to tie his brother into the song as well. Thus, it became a tribute to both.

I knew a bunch like that when I worked at an aviation museum years ago. Most were aware they were seen that way...but they would deflect it. Indeed that generation was remarkable precisely because they were ordinary, but were called upon to do the extraordinary and unstintingly did it...
