As many times as I have listened to them singing this, I tear up. Very respectful to the theme and emotion of this song. Your physical, emotional response to this says all that needs to be said. Not only is Home Free masters of harmony and arrangement, but they demonstrate the skill to properly respect the message of each song they cover. Looking forward to your next reaction to Home Free. They have never dissapointed.

This song holds a very special place in my heart. It played while carrying both parents caskets form the hearse to the gave site. VINCE GILL wrote and sang the original. The original version is what was played at their funerals 2005 mom ,2015 Dad.

Just imagine that the producers of "The Sing Off" never wanted to give Rob the limelight.....they wanted Austin to always be front and center, then HF did it anyway with Colder Weather.....he has such a sweet, soulful and powerful voice.

Their beatboxer Adam was harmonizing with them in this, no beatboxing was needed here. In this video, they were singing this song live for the world's largest platform for country music. They do something called "church sessions" which showcase country music singers singing with raw voices. This shows you how clean and beautiful their true singing voices are.

This song - either HF version - gets me weeping every time! When my husband passed, a friend told me he was singing in the heavenly choir. I replied that the angels better put him in the back row. Lots of spirit, but short on pitch.

My favorite version. Of course I like Vince’s version but this one with the harmonies of them all just touches me way down deep in my soul.
@JoanN639 ай бұрын
I know what you feel, because every time I hear it (I think quite a few times now) I also feel it throughout my body. A tear, or actually tears, flow down my cheeks. Rob's voice with so much soul, so much emotion, so warm, so pure and as soft as velvet, but still enters your heart with so much power. Then Tim's part, also sung so beautifully and fits in perfectly. But what tops it off is the best harmony there is. When I listen to this song I think of my partner, my best friend, my father and many other important family members/people I have lost.

Yep, that is exactly what I did the first time I heard and saw that. They have another version, the official video… it is amazing. Rob has such a beautiful voice and usually doen’t stand out, but he is so awesome. You should check his duet with Austin Brown (on Austin’s channel) two country singers try opera… Also, they are just so good. I saw them life last September here in Utrecht (Netherlands) and it was a party. Really, it is hard to describe but you have to go see them live. Oh… a suggestion, check out Home Free’s 9 to 5 live with beatbox break out… worth it!😊

One of the things that make Home Free next level is their ability to vocalize the emotional context of a song. I've seen reactors who are military veterans cry watching this song. BTW, 3 of them are song writers (Austin, Tim & Chance) and they all have channels of their own. Tim, Austin & friends also do fund raising for at-risk veterans.

I have just recently found you, but I really like your style. I am a diehard Home Fry and am glad to find that you like them too. The way they draw you in to the music is a special talent indeed. I truly believe that they have been touched by the hand of God. Their voices certainly seem to be angelic at times. At yet through it all, they never take themselves too seriously. They are just down to earth people that just love doing what they do and have never let it go to their heads. If you would like to see something that has great harmony but shows the lighter side, I might suggest their cover of "When will I be loved?" The twist the put on it is so cute.

AFTER THOUGHT. I think your comment partly explains why I still prefer Vince's version. Super simple instrumental and Vince's sublime voice (with minimal backing). Too much flare just spoils this kind of song. The fact that he wrote it for his brother adds emotion as well. Their are several versions on YT if you haven't seen it. Worth a look. Love your channel Charlie. Glad your still putting up content. As I wrote on my other post. I used the original at my son's funeral so I'm definitely biased.
