It's a misnomer to call Home Free a country band. HF auditioned for the show 'The Sing Off' a few times and did not make the cut. They performed pop at the time. The shows producers stated they needed a different 'hook' for the show. They offered HF the chance to perform as a unique country acapella group. They performed...they won. Subsequently they stayed with the country edge to get known to the public. Their many collaborations were with country acts. Tim has stated many times he did not want to perform country. But you go what pays the bills. In the ensuing years HF, as their fame/ talent has gotten a following, they broke away from being 'country' and set forth their talent in numerous genres. So let's recall the collective abilities of Home Free. -- 5 lead singers -- 5 tenors -- 3 baritones -- 2 bass -- 1 basso profundo -- 5 beat boxers/vocal percussionists -- 1 EXCEPTIONAL beatboxer/drum kit/ vocal percussionist -- 5 guys proficient in various genres: (Pop/Country/R&B/Rock/Gospel/Rap/Blues/Musical theater/Comedy/Holiday/Doo Wop/AND NOW Opera..Opera!!/dancers-in- training 😉 ) Oh, and I would venture to say they present upgrades 'not' covers. Look for Austin's channel. This last week the song reactor channels are innudated with the "Country Boys sing opera" Sample this offering...no other group is as versatile.

HF posted this in April 2020, with the comment, "In this uncertain time, there are so many brave people teaching us each day about real sacrifice. Thank you to those who are sacrificing their strength for others because they don't have enough of their own. This song is for you." It's such a beautiful song, thank you for reacting to it.

My father has been resting on that mountain since July 4th 1979. I was stationed at Quantico Va.. at the time and had my engine torn down doing a valve job. Two of my brothers came to take me home when my father went to the hospital do to a massive heart attack triggered by cancer. we arrived in Baltimore 15 minutes after he passed. I have always regretted not being there to say goodbye. My father was a WW II Army veteran and the two brothers who came to pick me up were Navy veterans. Another one of my brothers was also a Navy veteran who served in Vietnam. And the tradition goes on, My son was an Army veteran. He served in the Iraq war and the Afghanistan war.

Home Free treats all of our senses everytime, smell, taste, touch, hearing and visual with every video/vocal release, they are the full package, and nobody is better about this then Home Free. They really do their homework about capturing every aspect of the human experience with a well thought out gameplan to reach down in our vested inherent emotional souls to embrace our fellow mankind with a very positive experience. Our hearts were tugged today once again by Home Free>>>>>..... ❤‍🩹

A lot of people claim to not like “Country Music”, and perhaps think it unsophisticated and “hokey”. Some of it may be, yet what other genre can reach the inner, true, emotions of your soul? Some may focus on “the beat”, the rime, how much vulgarity can be used, but nothing can get to you like a song that goes straight to the heart. That is funny, reflective, or heart wrenching Country.

So beautifully sung by Rob with so much emotion that it touches your heart and soul. Because if you can sing as well, as it reaches only to my ears it's not good enough for me. But this is so perfect. Beautiful cover with respect for the original. They just give it a Home Free twist like Tim's piece with Amazing Grace. So good harmonies and great bass in the background .. And then that video, so emotional!! My father came out of the war alive after 4 years in a Japanese camp. Often in isolation. With the help of a fellow inmate, he survived. But it still bothered him physically and mentally. He was hard on us. We were not allowed to show our emotions and weakness, otherwise they would get us. After all, he himself had survived the war that way. In 1969, 3 days before my 6th birthday, he died from the physical effects of the war. He was only allowed to live to be 50 years old. Amazing Grace was sung at his funeral. One of his favorite songs that he often sang as a pastor. By the way, though you may not like opera try Austin Brown and Rob Lundquist on Austins channel: Two country singers try singing opera "Nessun Dorma ".. You"ll be shocked

It’s funny, but I have the same attitude to country music that you do…I’m not much of a fan, but sometimes a group comes along which changes your mind. Home free is one group…another for me are Poor Man’s Poison. I listen to them constantly at the moment and would love to hear your opinion on them. Years ago in the late 1960's, my father who was career military and had just retired, was at the local VFW on 4th of July. He was cornered by a reporter, and was asked, how could you go and fight wars. Why would you do this?. He stood up and in his Sargent's voice, said - " I did it so idiots like you can ask stupid questions like that" she had no further comments. It made it to TV that evening, one of my favorite memories of my father. Your comments about veterans at the end, reminded me of that day.

Home Free is amazing with this song but find, when coupled with the video, to be just too overwhelming. Unfortunately some people can't differentiate their hatred for war from their hatred of the men and women that fought them. They need to realize, that no one like wars, but they happen, sometimes fought for a very good cause. And for that cause, the men and women that served, sometimes came home damaged mentally, physically, or not at all. Giving their lives for the betterment of others. There is no greater sacrifice that to give your life so others can live.

I always get goosebumps when they sing songs like this. Check out their version of How Great Thou Art. Adam even sings a verse in it. I was fortunate enough to see them in Stockton last week. They were simply amazing.

Heartfelt reaction. Exactly how I feel every time I listen to it. You would appreciate their cover of In the Blood as well.

Larry we played this song at my brother's funeral in 2015. I lost both of my brothers in 2015 they drowned. Then I lost my stepdad in 2019 who raised me my whole life and was basically my real dad. My real dad was killed by a security guard in prison when I was 3 months old. These last 7 years since my brothers and dad's death have been terrible. Depression and everything. It's just me and my mom left and she's up there in age and I take care of her but I lost my job and car when COVID started and have been stranded here for two years with no way to the stores or way to get a job it's been so hard and it's impossible to get on my feet without any help and I have no family left to help. So I just do my best to make it through each day and seeing as how my mom's the only person I have left if anything happens to her that'll be the end of my time to, I don't plan on sticking around in this world after she is gone cause I have no one. But this song tears me up everytime I hear it, takes me back to my brother's funeral

I'm so very sorry for these losses. Please don't give up hope. There a so many that need to learn from you. You can be a tremendous support for those that can relate to what you have and are going through. Don't dismiss what great plans God has for you in your life.

So glad you got to this amazing song although I could tell it was hitting you pretty hard. I felt the same way when I first heard Vince Gill sing this but it really hits me hard hearing HomeFree perform this because I know how they especially honor our Veterans. I had an uncle who went to the service World WarII and is MIA. Left a bride of only 2 months. Vocals absolutely beautifully done.😪

The Amazing Grace part of this song was added by Home Free but it fits in very well. Notice the lack of beat boxing.

Although I served in a combat arms specialty at one of my duty stations in the Army I had occasion to serve as OIC for many funeral details as an additional duty. In retrospect I believe helping families find a degree of solace by providing military honors was the most worthwhile thing I did in the military. The gratitude families expressed after the ceremony was at times rather overwhelming for those of us on the detail.

I have had the honor to be at a funeral with the folding of the flag and when it was unfolded and the "snap" revealing the beauty of those colors brought me to tears.
