Mia you should keep the main level as the main living area and use upstairs and the basement as a studios If you’re going to be living there full time, you want it to feel like HOME and have relaxation.. you don’t wanna be put away in the basement
@lilred69583 жыл бұрын
maybe its an anxiety thing as she mentioned wanting to feel safe in the basement bedroom. During day time hours I would guess she spends the majority of her time in the studio and then the home is for the evenings. For a young person leaving home I think maybe the basement feels a more secure safe snug space to live in. She can always change things up as she needs to aswell. That upstairs part will make a beautiful home someday its a gorgeous space.

Before ripping down the fireplace stone, perhaps you can wait to see how you feel about the stones after you painted the walls around it. The wall colour might be the problem. I think they picked a orange/brown colour from the stone to match the walls but it is too outdated. If you pick a warm grey or a cream to match the other colours of the stone, you will see how much the stone will pop. Once you replace the fireplace with a more modern looking one and maybe update it with a wood mantle, you can really modernize it. Then if you still really don't like it try painting the stone. Give it a fighting chance because I really have a feeling that this stone will come back in style at some point like so many things do. Congrats on your new place!

@alexia35523 жыл бұрын
Yeah, and it's one of those resources that you can't really ctrl+z once it's gone, like it's decently easy to pick out a matching paint to a color you painted over and figured out you liked, but the stones are one of a kind

I personally would definitely make the basement my studio space, and maybe even the blue room if I needed more space. It feels like such a shame to not utilise the amazing space upstairs when it already looks stunning as living space. Like upstairs in the massive room, I’d split the big walk in wardrobe as a part en-suite and part wardrobe, maybe even extend the wardrobe part, and have this big master bedroom. Just everything bout this house is a dream to me

@@TreasureForeverOfficial to be fair most people prefer to have less windows in filming spaces so they can have more control over the lighting. Ohhh this is a stunning house, I can actually imagine the office in the “original living room” with a cosy seating area and coffee table, then downstairs in your own little kitchen you could make an island and have some bar stools around it, it would utilise the space without it feeling cluttered and flows with the concept of open space. It's actually eerie how much this resembles my childhood home. The layout is a bit different, but it's basically the same. Growing up (kindergarten, elementary) my room was the one @ 16:23. Yes I had no door, I had a curtain, I thought it was so fun and unique. And for the open window to the bottom floor, it was still completely open. I felt like a little spy kid, no one could get away with anything, not on my watch. Eventually I got old enough, that I moved to a room with a real door, because privacy is important for growing youths. But wow, this is so nostalgic

i mean as an ENGLISH person you both pronounce garage ‘wrong’. whenever i hear an american pronounce ENGLISH words wrong i don’t complain about it. americans really don’t have the right to try and correct other people on the pronunciation of english words considering it isn’t your language.
@nomiedezdez92567 ай бұрын
It’s odd that it would ‘hurt her soul’ when she’s saying the word correctly, just with her accent. I mean have you ever heard an Irish person say garage? It sounds totally wrong to an American or even British accent but it’s still the correct pronunciation- it’s just with an Irish accent. The same language can be spoken drastically differently based on the origin of the speaker- it’s just another variety but the same language. Sure it can be hard to adjust to new ways of saying things that you aren’t used to- but to say she’s “trying” to say garage when she is, in fact, saying it totally fine as English is her first and only language is really odd

It looked like a wood burning stove that you had. If so, I'd get it looked at and keep it. It can cut your heating bills by a lot through the long, dark winter! Best of luck with your renovations. Great to hear your mama.

: as for the common space, conference style office! The dining, living, and office space could make for an amazing work experience for you, your mom, and whoever else becomes part of your team! It could be so nice to have a homey feel, yet have it be super functional for work!

I hope you make your home space in the basement something you’d actually be comfortable in and leave all the studio/work stuff upstairs! It’ll be a good separation & definitely something u deserve!

I would love to see you keep the fireplace as is and make the design fit with a new modern twist. I think “organic modern” is the newest trend and the rock could really look cool and new with different organic elements. You have great taste and I think you could do something so beautiful.

It really is a modern mid century dream! So much potential

I say keep the fireplace, it’s really pretty and as time goes on (like years) it will be valued more as an antique type of fireplace. Also, you could use that huge table in the 16x16 room for your sewing videos/making “wish” product videos!

I love the break up of floors. I work out of my house too and my next living space I'm hoping to live in the basement and have a photo studio /client space on the main living area or convert a large garage into a studio. Hoping with all hopes that the basement will look as cozy as yours - majorly into basement life haha. Congrats on your new home!

Please do a yellow room! Everything in it and all the walls and stuff are different shades of yellow or mainly yellow. You could paint the walls with sunflowers and bees!
@triciap60063 жыл бұрын
Congrats on your new house! I would try to keep that large room they had as an art room as the only "filming room". You could probably have four different set ups in there. And then you could turn that other area into the office area. I think it would be nice to have the first floor as your actual house set up. A house with a couple studio rooms vs a studio you live in. Plus you could always film in other rooms if you need a change of scene but they wouldn't have to be rigged for production 🤷🏽♀️

I personally would make the middle as the living space because it has the master bedroom and it will be warmer than the basement. Plus you have the master bathroom connected to the bedroom. However it’s your home so I can’t wait to see what you do with it

That super huge room upstairs would be perfect as an arts and crafts/sewing/ filming room. And you could totally add pantry cabinets to the basement dining area
@kesleyloy97353 жыл бұрын
I actually agree making your office space in the living area. Snack, edit, lounge, have people hanging out with you keeping you company as your work, etc. A BIG smart TV and a dedicated desk space but also a DEEEP BIG couch to put your feet up and be on the laptop as well. Just stick your WiFi printer somewhere else and keep cords neat. Congrats on your new space!
@MartaVelez01083 жыл бұрын
: as for the fireplace, I’d say keep the stone, paint the grout, design a modern mantle, and embrace the mix of modern and OG! I think you’d figure out something really beautiful!!

When we were looking at houses, all we were looking at was out dated houses. We live in Massachusetts so lots of old houses, but we’d never want a new build. I’m so excited to update our kitchen and turn it into our dream home. Im also so proud of you!

I am sooo obsessed with your house. Open space is the key and you have plenty of it. The fireplace looks so beautiful do not change it. You could just paint the wall a colour that it makes it pop and beam, you're done. I hope one day I will get a house as gorgeous as yours. Thank you for making my optimism grow. You are so inspirational and lovely 😍 take care Mia and good luck with the reno.

I agree with Mia. When you spend most of your time working, you want to work in the place with the most light. The large closets are perfect for all her clothes and film equipment. My bedroom is the place I spend the least amount of time. Plus her family helps her film. It’s a space they spend time in as well.

I loooove both fireplaces! As some of the others suggested, I would use the living room and kitchen on the main floor as living space and take more from downstairs as a studio (maybe the big kitchen room could have a filming area in this big second part of the room that you didn't know yet what to do with)
