Empyrion Sever Setup Using Project Eden

Great video, and got me up and running... however, having trouble with the difficulty settings not working correctly for Reforged Eden... which should be pretty much the same setup. Specifically, turning off the backpack drop items and turning off base attacks. No matter how I tweak those config file settings, can't get those settings to work correctly. Hoping maybe Host Havoc support may be able to help.

I have always had to manually add the backpack drop into the game options yaml inside the saved game folder. Try that and see if it helps

Sure, make it look easy. At least others won't have as hard a time as I did getting my server set up. Thank's for the tutorial, should help a lot of us non technical people.

Be sure that you do not transfer the scenario folder itself only its contents into the Project Eden folder. Also the game options have been moved to the gameoptions.yaml file so be sure to edit the MP section.

Im doing a reforged eden server but same basic idea, I cant get it to run the sinario though any help? i did a ticket on my servers site and they explained they dont do mod support but did let me know many other Empyrion servers run that mod so they know its possible.

@@darksupportertn most of the time it deals with the mod folder. If you could please tell me what folders and files are in your main mod folder . Also did you use the exact same name as your folder using? spaces and capitalized letters? Most of the time this is where you have an issue.

@@DisturbedZ So I went through rewatched your Video a few times following along, My brain clicked with the detail you had in it. I now have a fully functional RE server on Gportal... thanks so much o7 I believe after delted steamapp folder it worked.

It's a rented server, and I believe it is a version of TC admin that they use

Sweet what service is it it's not G-portal I have that and it's a mother to try to add eden to it border line impossible.

What do you mean by "be sure to remove contents from original folder"? Which contents folder are we speaking of as the Empyrios>Content folder has the scenario folder in it? I am having an issue where playfields aren't loading and the server stalls. I feel like it might have something to do about that step but I can't seem to find any info on it. Cheers

Everything that was inside the folder 227651921 needs to go into the new folder, just dont add folder 227651921. It wont allow the scenario to work if that extra folder is there. I hope that helps clear it up

having issue setting up empyrion on gportal specifically getting the keep inventory part under the gameoptions which i found using filezilla! the line for keeping player inventory isnt on any line so i put into the mp survival myself but its not working

ok it could be a couple of things. First is in lined up with the rest of the options vertically? A single extra space or lack of will make it not work. Second, I have had issues with the gameoption yaml becoming corrupt and having to upload a brand new file. This happen once after I had all my options set and they were working and then a day later it was no longer working even though the code was correct. Third do you have option typed correctly it is case sensitive and that could also cause it to not work. Let me know if any of that has helped you. Thank you for this. Just for the erasing the # to make "active" i although cant get the values for player progerssion to work . once i figure this out i should be good. i tried faster/fast but exp does not change

Im glad I could help. I never had any issues with the exp, but they have changed a few things since I made this video.

@@DisturbedZ they have changed a couple things that i seen would be nice to have. We went through 2 other servers this weekend trying to get RE to work. 16 hrs trying everything. I pulled the plug and spent more and went with Havoc and in 10m (from signing up to in game)and no fuss ,It works. The old version you show has tabs for ingame settings that we dont. I still can not get ingame settings to change even with the yaml values changed. Gave up and started to enjoy playing the game and will attack the values again tonite. I sure hope folks find the video. I posted a link to it in the Havoc discord when i seen someone asking to setup up RE.

Hy, i using also hosthavoc provider, but in ConfigFiles dedicated_config.yaml dosent show up difficulty settings. i only see Server Config Server Name to Official Server Key and Game Config Save Game Name to Custom Scenario, and another settings what you video show up i dont see. No difficulty settings etc, how to bring them show up?

I believe this got changed with the 1.7 update. It is now listed under the game options yaml. For a server be sure to edit the MP survival. If you need any further help you can message me in discord..

I followed all these steps to the exact degree but all im getting is a server not responding message. when i review the config files my yaml file just says 1 with no other info. any ideas?

i reinstalled the server to vanilla and still getting a server not responding is host havoc unable to host this service now?

I noticed you left the "big huge number" unchanged under the Project Eden folder, did you not have to change that?

Yes that number folder needed to be removed. Only the contents of it need to be in there.

I've set up GTX gaming server to run RE. Do you need to install the Empyrion Dedicated Server program under tools in Steam to run RE on the new server?

I am not familar with gtx gaming server setup, but I do believe that it correct. Did you rent a dedicated server or a empyrion server?

I've been trying to set up a RE server on Host Havoc for 3 days and it refuses to take the settings from the yaml files. It keeps applying default settings. Any suggestions?

So it loads RE but it keeps the default settings? And are you editing it in the file manager or the config editor?

starting planets dont have names any idea why

I never had that issue before. Not Sure what would cause it. Do all the starter planets load?

And there you go - the other problem that makes multi-player unwatchable - the endless loot and resources - POIs regen with endless loot (particularly the abandoned ones) and resource nodes that don't deplete or regen on a schedule - just seems kinda pointless, but ya'll have "fun" Good video - the set-up doesn't seem quite as daunting as I've read

I can see where your coming to from but at the same time a universe full of empty planets that I could drain as I move through it isn't much different is it? I don't plan on hitting poi's repeatedly, just like in single player I can skip over them. But unlike single player there will always be base attacks because the drone base comes back. I will never be able to be safe on a planet due to the threats respawning constantly.

Actually, it is blurred out for the privacy of my server and the location of it is at the beginning of the video. If you are using host havoc it is located in several places throughout the control panel. Most server hosts will have it listed for you on the main page or on your confirmation of purchase email. I could help you figure it out if you are using a different host site as most of them have a similar setup.

Yeah I used the random folder in the scenario folder instead of making a new one if it has trouble loading.
