@@idnintel empryion galactic survival is better than Elite Dangerous in several areas: more content, actual story, interesting combat, more varied environments and NPCs. Elite dangerous has a really good flight model, 1:1 scale of the milky way galaxy (most of the planets are boring just like the real one), good graphics, and fantastic sound design. ED has terrible crafting (this is done primarily via the mind numbing level of grind for materials that "engineers" require), no interactive story and terrible company management that ignores player base.

@@spartansmsu93noob54 yeah thanks, I was reading about engineering earlier today and I came to the conclusion it's best to organically gather material as you play the game and not focus so much on the grind as that seems to drive a lot of people nuts. So I guess when I play I'll just enjoy some trading/exploring/whatever and not feel like I need to focus quickly to level 5. I can see this being interesting for at most 200 hours and then I'll move on to something that has more purpose like this game where there are actual story, npcs, interesting environments as you say. I have a nice VR headset with the reverb g2 so that is initially what attracted me to this game. anyway, take care and thanks for the response.

@@idnintel sorry I forgot to mention VR support which was dropped for ED: Odyssey. I used to play ED in VR myself. Very impressive. 200 to 500 hours is about right...if and only if you enjoy flight sims. ED is mostly a flight sim. Good luck and fly safe o7.

@@spartansmsu93noob54 Yeah man I sure do enjoy flight sims. Got 300 hours in DCS and just getting started. Already learned the harrier, sabre and f5 tiger. Next for me is the black shark 3 then f16. What a time to be alive in VR but everyone says that! I think our earth is more interesting to fly (also enjoy il sturmovik) in because it is more feature rich let's say than the mostly empty galaxy in elite dangerous but I still will enjoy many scenic things in elite dangerous I am sure and it is extremely amazing beyond words that they have created a 1:1 replica of our milky way galaxy. As much as you say you barely hitting the the topic. This is immensely helpful for understanding the concept of building or modifying in RE. This is still a very hard topic to find spelled out information as far as "need to know to start".

I am actually glad I got to start playing the game so late in it's development I essentially never learned Non RE Empyrion. I started playing because of Spanj and his RE videos. I think that gave me an advantage in the sense that I never had to re-learn anything. Reforged Eden is all I've ever known so it's.....The game. RE is the game from my perspective. And honestly I am glad of that.

Another nice little way to eek out a little extra CPU in Reforged Eden is using Crew blocks. Each crew block reduces your CPU usage by 2500. So as you're checking out traders and stuff while playing, you might want to watch out for those Human and Alien crews they sell.

I would recommend always placing truss blocks instead of grow plots in a ship/base template. The problem with steel grow plots is the need for cobalt alloy - I have seen quite a few youtubers struggle getting it and preventing a ship being spawned when it was the only thing missing. You can then complete your farm as materials become available.

That's why I hit up the abandoned pois. Mainly the outpost has a good amount of grow plots to begin with.

You can always spawn the ship/base in Creative and replace the grow plots with truss blocks and then save the modified blueprint.

i have about 100hrs in vanilla so from what you said toward the end of the video, I suppose I should put off Reforged Eden until I get a better grip on actual play and small attempts at building. Thanks for describing the differences.

Thank you @Spanj, finally someone who explains it. I have been trying to figure out that CPU system for weeks, and the documentation is not very helpful. There are 3 more subjects that you could explain: Where and to find the non-vanilla materials (ie Magmacite, Veridium, Diamond) Warp drives and Antimatter How to correctly configure a new game (CPU, weight, block limit).

Im deep onto several RE series but hadn't grasped the scope, so I looked this up, and I'm not disappointed. I'm not hung up on vanilla as I've had this years but only just got a computer worthy of actually enjoying the game, so this isn't confusing at all. Another banger, Spanj. That is for all the content, fam, I'll be sure to get on twitch some day and start working you some prime sub action. Great committed creators really need the support, I know, life is rough, so, I'll do what I can. 💪😘👌 That said I look forward to digging into all your workshop content very soon and I look forward to making myself a nice efficient vogon sweet of strip malls Office buildings in skyscrapers LOL and here's hoping I can actually pull off the heavy metal movie :-) spaceship finally as I've been trying to do that thing in Avorion for a very long time and just have never been satisfied. So wish me luck and here's helping I can drop in on the server someday although no promises since I'm a truck driver and productivity is ridiculous... Maybe starling will be a little more affordable down the road, here's hoping.

I just watched this episode and after this the episode RE 43, where you Farm the drone parts… all Good stuff to know:)) but with episode 43, could you do please a video about turrets? Same style of video like this? Because in episode 43; a lot of stuff of the vendetta is shooting but to be honest i dont know the difference of plasma, Laser, whatever turrets. For example the starter tier turret projektile, you have minigun and the other, what is the difference? But as always, good fun to watch :))

Not sure if its working at the moment.. but there is an option to choose between survival and creative on the new game menu..makes no difference using it over the console..but it's an option. For new builders out there, vanilla or Reforged, it does pay to get comfortable with the console anyway...so many useful utility commands that help you stay sane in EGS 😁

Vanilla is good to learn the basics up to the point you get a capital ship, after that you might find moving to RE a nice learning curve

So I got into empyrion only recently(168hrs) and have been learning alot about the mechanics and all that(building,SVs,CVs). Will it break my current server if I download it this late? Can you use AI for fleet control of ships or no? I really love having a specialized ship. Though I don't like the idea of jumping between ships all the time. It would be awesome to having a carrier group but in space?

I have not done a lot of space traveling for the most part I'm more of a POI destroyer with my HV digger. When it comes to SV or CV building I'm not that good. One major note which I'm sure I'll get a lot of flack 4 for is that I do not use CPU or mass and volume. Everyone's place style is different. I enjoy not having limitations. Don't get me wrong I do play on a server that has those limitations but if those limitations but if I had a choice...

You forgot to emphasize to be sure which direction the starter block is facing so that you don't have your cockpit facing backwards like someone who shall not be named did on his first RE ship. Also, piping. Piping is of utmost importance.

Ok watching this now, I can tell you I'll be turning off CPU mass volume. I also absolutely hate the thrust nerf. I'm really looking for more content not increasing the grind. I want to get out there and explore. So what I got from this is the reforged part is just making the game a pain in the ass. I like the atmospheric turrets. I thought space turrets not firing in atmo was the stupidest thing I've ever seen. I understand the reason they did it but I hate it. I'm looking for more story, more diffent and interssting POIs. New textures to paint with, more crew models. It feels like Eden is the one that adds content. So I'll probably just dump all that CPU mess and the volume thing and give it a try. At least they let you do that. Thanks for the vid. Although I was looking more for a "here's all the new weapons, turrets, blocks, and just stuff". The new story, the new classes etc etc. It feels like most of that is in Eden. The vid was really really good and, like RE shops served it's purpose well 👍. I never went far in Empyrion yet... So far I noticed that there are on planet base attacks with drones and so on... But are there Drone attacks for CVs as well or why is it so important to "balance" the CPU stuff? So far I started a scenario in space I never got into an space fight or something. But these things will "randomly" happen or is it just going to another planet and attacking stuff with a CV?

So because of this vid and your ships, I gave RE a try. I play SP or sometimes local MP with my 9 y/o. New blocks, missions, story, weapons, POIs etc I am all about that. Alter values to increase the grind and basically handicapping things just to complicate things and make them more difficult, I'm out. I did not see very much new stuff and I didn't see any new missions, story or pois. Maybe I installed it wrong or maybe it's more of a pvp deal. Anyway thanks but no thanks. Still love your ships tho :-)

I generally advise new players to start with Vanilla but tbh, go straight for Reforged, its a bit more of a learning curve but you wont get bored so quickly

Me and my husband have been playing this in multiplayer and it was too buggy to keep going. Any tips on changes to make in order to use it for multiplayer? some people do not like the changes made in Reforged because it is a lot harder and drags the game out a lot more, so you can have the additional content of Project Eden on its own with vanilla rules too if you like

He does have one, it looks like a cylinder with sticks coming out the top, sides and bottom. They have his docking pad on them so his ships just mosey on up to the pad that they fit onto easily and away they go. The blueprint for the carrier is available to his patrons for sure and maybe his youtube members and twitch subscribers.

@@seliasthemage Yeah, I'm not sure we really saw him use it much, it was near the end of the series, and as I recall he still needed some more resources to get the big advanced warp drive which would allow him to jump from the main galaxy to the other one, which I can't remember the name of at the moment, but that you usually had to get to on foot through the big gate at the end of a string one jumps into the empty space between the two galaxies

Some of the thrusters also give you tourqe wich helps in turning wich means less of a need for rcs's.

they all have a torque value. it depends on placement how effective that torque is.

One of the things that turned me off when I tried the game a few years ago was that there was never a reason to build specialized ships. This mods is certainly a leap in the right direction in my opinion. Though I might like to see power requirements bumped up for certain components as well.

Answered myself, loaded your Vendetta (awesome build!!!) and had a look, you need all extensions, not only the 5, also 2 and 1 of the basic and standard. In the video you have said that you only need the T4...
