When having two birds, they wont always want to bond with you. They will be bonded with eatch other, this is why they run away. I had one bird that was bonded with me and he now runs away that I have got him a mate

I have a pet sparrow I rescued last year when she was a baby. She was abandoned because of the failed feather development. Her feather problem continued until she grew up fully. I fed her every two hours (of course I had to lock myself up in my tiny room to do this) and took care of her with passion to help her to live. It's my first time having a bird, so I had to do A LOT of research. She finally learned how to eat on her own and how to fly. And now she has beautiful white feathers fully covered her body. She's very comfortable with me. But you know what!? I think she feels way to comfy. She packs me hardcore in the morning at 7am (I'm a night owl and I go to sleep at like 4-5am), she pulls out the loose skin next to my finger nail to the opposite direction until it bleeds, and bites my earlobes and fingers. I still love her but I think I rescued an evil bullying bird. She thinks I'm just a butler who provides her food and cleans her poopoos. 😐

SAK- SOON I also bully my pets occasionally, like chasing it around the house or sneaking on them when they are looking away and I do this even to my human friends. Even cats to this to other cats. That's playing. Your bird is bored and it doesn't know or care if it's hurting you. If you can't handle it set it free.

SAK- SOON Yes, it's a wild bird, that's why I said if you can't handle it let it go. She can survive, there are sparrows everywhere, she can just see what the other birds are eating, she can also forage if you gave her common food. With animals like mammals is different, with birds there isn't much competition and can also live in group. Especially in the urban environment there isn't much of a threat since there aren't big birds that could pray on it.

I hope you read my comment...; she was rescued when she was a baby and I had to treat her feather problem until she grew up fully. That means she's imprinted on human. Those birds that are imprinted on human can't be released unless they get special training. I went to a wild bird rescue place for some advice and they said she absolutely cant survive in wild anymore... Now she has white feather unlike other sparrows and she won't be welcomed to any sparrow crew since she looks different from others... Plus she will be the first target to hawks and other big birds because of the white feather. My area has a lot of those big birds lol. Not all animal can be released... Trust me, I'm not a bird profession, but I studied a lot about wild birds to save this little guy's life.

I did a lot of what this video recommended actually. (: The first couple weeks I just talked to him through the bars, once he seemed to enjoy that I started putting my hand inside his cage and leaving it there so he could get used to being around it and (hopefully) learn it wasn't a threat. I slowly moved to him getting on my finger while in the cage, and then out of his cage. I repeated the same steps for my other budgies, but my bird didn't fully trust me before I got another budgie so he now prefers the company of his birdy friends. As for your budgie flying away, some do some don't. You could always clip his wings until he gets settled in and less frightened. I got really lucky with my first budgie because he always stayed on his cage unless it was to fly laps around my head (lol) and it rubbed off on my other budgies eventually. My second budgie would fly around the house and get lost like yours, I clipped his wings and when they grew back a few months later he stayed on his cage unless it was to fly around the room, but he never left the room that his cage is in.

Biting is normal for a Budgie. They bite when they're scared. My parakeet bites me when he's uncomfortable even though he's almost tamed. You must not flinch or take your hand out of the cage. It will show it that biting will get your hand out of the cage. Do not say ouch either it will make him think it's a squeaky toy.

My budgies seem to trust me, they perch on my finger to nibble at millet and they let me pet them sometimes, but they don't seem to actually _like_ me. If I don't have food, they just nip at the place where I usually keep the seeds and then fly back to their perch when they realise I don't have any treats on me. I thought we would be closer if I let them out once a day, but when I do, they just keep eating the food in my palm and when they get bored with the food, they just fly to the top of their cage and chew at it. They don't really enjoy my company. I've had them for a few months, 4 or 5, but I'll admit that I only started taming them a month or so ago.

They could have bonded to eachother. If you want two budgies then get 2 boys. 1girl and boy either will bond or attack the other. And two girls will fight. And two boys won’t bond with eachother

I have a budgie and a lovebird. They LOVE string beans, broccoli, and various types of greens like kale, mustards, cilantro, and spinach, but I can't get them to eat fruit or ANY produce that isn't green. They might give the fruit a quick lick to taste them, but they won't eat them. Other than their seeds, the only non-green things that they'll eat is popcorn, toast, and Cheerios. Isn't that weird? Of course, those are occasional treats like their millet seed sprays. As it is- I had to eat some greens and green-beans in front of them to get them to eat them. These little guys are funny that way.

My parakeet hates being outside the cage and she never plays. But she seems happy because she likes to chirp a lot. I got her as an adult and the person who had her before was an old lady who had a lot of parakeets but she didn’t take them she just had them. Maybe she never introduced them to toys. My bird was a demon he bit me everyday but know he’s the best pet ever he never bites and he always gives me kisses That’s how u gained his trust! 1- I took him to the vet to clip his wings because if u want to be with your pet without him running away 2- I keep her in my room when she’s out because she feels more safe in there sense Iam usually in my room , just keep them with you 3- when he bites Dont hurt him or shout or push him away it will make him even want to bite more sense he sees your reactions 4- take him out side even if it’s your backyard just take him out side if his wings are clipped he can’t fly but if it’s not clipped take him out in his cage 5- feed him in your hands like rewards if he comes out in his cage without biting give him some seeds and also make him try more fruits! Like bananas 6- when it’s time to take your bird to there cage before u go give her a kiss or clap your hands slowly so the bird knows u didn’t lock her up Bec u don’t like her 7- I don’t know if this works for all of the people but when mine was biting I usually took him to the fridge and he would just look and go up to the bananas to eat 8- the most important is when u give your pets a bath 9- let your birds to watch things you do like clean your room or make your bed it will help him know you more he will just watch you do stuff 10- again this one is optional but my bird loves watching KZbin or tv with me he would just calm down and chill I hope this helped becouse it helped me a lot me and my bird are best friends know we even watch anime together !

+iiWolvie Gaming I'm with reina, it is a game now. Mine used to do that but I would merely move it slightly more toward him, until he got the idea that my finger is not a chew toy. Mine knows now that my finger is for perching. If you make a lot of noise or move quickly, the bird will think you are trying to hurt it.

+reina Yes, the pulling away makes the bird think it won the game over you. Mine was like that, but I simply very slightly moved my finger toward him so he could feel my finger against him. He stopped trying to bit very quickly after that. People aren't aware of what birds perceive as dangerous, and any slight action a human does can be perceived as the human predator. Animals are very intelligent about reading body language and they can tell if a person is angry by the way the person makes their face, even if the person isn't aware of it. Anger translates to being eaten in the animal kingdom, it is instinct.

How long does it generally take? I've had my two budgies for about 3 months now. They are most likely between 9 and 12 months old, and the vet says very healthy. I've watched so many videos, and I can't figure out what I am doing wrong, if I am doing anything wrong. They still don't trust me fully. And generally only stick to their cage. I leave it open so they can move freely. They like to perch on top of the cage. They are very talkative with me and each other. But they don't like hanging out on my finger or shoulder for long. I should also note that one of them had their wings clipped before I got them, and she is only just growing the feathers back. Any tips to get them to trust me. I'm becoming very discouraged.

Hello, I have been watching your videos a ton before and since I got my first budgie. However, he seemed to be getting lonely a week after we got him, and I had planned on getting another one soon to keep him company. We ended up getting two more. The night we came home, despite my advice on leaving them alone for a week or two to slowly work with them, a family member tried to grab one of the newest ones and now he is deathly afraid of everything I do. If I change the food or even walk by the cage, he starts to pant and climb the cage to get away from me. I know that shouldn't have happened, and I'm still trying to slowly get him used to me, even if all I do is sit 5 feet away and talk to it. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Buying two means they are unlikely to bond with you. Buying one will making it likely to bond with you, but it'll need lots of attention as it'll get lonely.

I have a cockatiel, but he's afraid of the floor of his cage. Maybe your bird likes groundfeeding? Since cockatiels are natural ground feeding birds, maybe you could put some food on the floor for it?

I have an Alexa play classical music for my budgie about 4ft. away, is that alright? I have it on for when I’m not able to interact with him.

My bird comes to me constanly, I put him in the cage, but then he comes out and Flys on me, so then I put him near me on a playground set, but then he keeps flying on me. He also broke a key on my laptops keyboard, lol.

I bought my bird when he was a baby and it grew up and now hes 1year old but since school started i cant really take care of him much i feed him and change his water everyday but i let him out of the cage only like an hour and thats how he doesn’t like me much anymore

My pet parakeet likes my shoulder and likes me to feed them from my hand. But sometimes when one of them is on my shoulder he won't come off and bites me 😕
