New subscriber, love the fresh idea and most challenging as well. I agree with previous comments, your details make the difference. And thanks for not having every possible power tool that makes an unrealistic shop for the average woodworker.

+Robert Bankhead well like any Woodworker you got to start from the bottom and work your way up. I’m not a rich man so my tools are acquired over the course of many years. One day in my later years I will probably have about every tool I would possibly need to make whatever I want but for now I have to make do with what I have in the space that I have. Thank You!!!

Pretty good idea. I just did a dozen end grain boards last month and I learned something cool in the process to help prevent tear out when running it through the planer. Pro tip... ok amateur tip... Use your round over router bit to take of the edge cutting board (assuming you're going to do this anyhow). Now run it through the planner, bam no tear out!!! This is obviously only going to work if you are going to round them over anyhow, but it doesn't take much. Keep an eye on this though as if you get to close taking off the round over it will split (say 1/16" or less). I like this because I don't have to spray the board with accelerate and CA glue. Not to mention there's less waste cutting it all off after. I then use a simple sled with a leading and trailing board (the same thickness as the cutting board) attached to it to feed it through the planner to prevent snipe on the cutting board.

To fill the gaps I use Ecopoxy, a food safe epoxy. I brush the top filling all the gaps and wiping off the top before it really hardens then I drum sand the board back to wood and finish as normal. You can color the epoxy any color. You can match the wood color or really use a color that pops in the gaps.
