That stretch from Table Rock to Sassafrass is so pretty. OK, so this is just Day 1. I look forward to seeing the rest. (And I'm planning to be there next December.)

So glad to hear you are doing the trail again. Let me know when you are going to be there. Yes I think that part and the walk around the lake are the best.

Nice that you were able to enjoy the Foothills Trail with other AT Thru Hikers. Looked very wet at the beginning. Perfect temps for backpacking.

Good to see you again. That trail looks beautiful, I can't imagine how busy it is during warmer weather.
@hikingmovie10 ай бұрын
Thank you. It definitely isn’t normally this busy in the winter. There were 30 something people that showed up for this planned hike, plus a few others that happened to be hiking that week, and a Boy Scout troop. It is amazing how few people I saw on trail even then. I mainly saw people at the road crossings where Fresh Ground was set up with food. I have hiked it in October and November during peak leaf season and still hardly see anyone. I am planning to hike it again in the spring to see all the flowers, maybe it will be busier then.

Hey Joanne trail name (greyhound) thanks for sharing your adventure with us. You're very fortunate to live by this beautiful trail. The water falls are breathtaking. I love ❤being in nature it's my happy😊 place. I live in Pennsylvania where it's very cold and snowy. Can't wait till spring hiking weather🎉

Thank you for watching. Pennsylvania is beautiful. You have great hiking there too, if the gnomes would just stop sharpening those rocks.

Great to see you back on the trail and your wonderful photography! Those misty moments are always so sublime. Our watery island in space is always in flux and you capture it so well. Sometimes I feel the shorter hikes just feel somewhat more intimate compared to the "daunting-ness" of the AT. With your recent experience of the AT how does it feel to you?

The first time I did the Foothills trail, I was so nervous and planned everything for weeks. 76 miles was such a long journey, I wasn’t sure I could do it. Kind of like the first day on a new job. Now it is like doing that same job for a year, it is easier and you have confidence in your ability and knowledge. Doing the trail 4 times also makes it feel almost like camping in my own yard. Everything is so familiar.

So amazing to see you on a trail again 🥰 welcome back! I did that trail during summer of 2021 but it was crazy buggy and muddy and I have been wanting to do it during winter because I’m sure there are less bugs; I saw that everybody was there the week after Christmas! How does this kind of hiking groups get organized? Or by whom? Maybe I can join one of those as part of a shakedown for my upcoming 2026 AT 💁🏼♀️ Sending love ❤

Look up Ramdino’s End of Days Hike on Facebook. He does it every year starting Dec 27th. He has a KZbin channel too and does updates on the trail and hikers throughout the hiking season.

Aha‼️I knew it wouldn't be too long before I would catch you hiking again! You haven't't lost your touch with vlogging...the video is great as usual. I have a question....where is Chunky? He did this with you last time... anyhow ..I'm glad you are back out there...sure wish I could ,but I hurt my knee so it looks like I will miss my favorite time to hike this year..real bummer😢. Well At least I will have about 5 days of good hiking to watch on your channel....thanks so much for posting and I sure hope your feet will be ok....are you still wearing the speedgoats? Good luck..cya tomorrow!
@hikingmovie10 ай бұрын
Sorry to hear about your knee. I still love the Speedgoats, but because the pain was mostly in the ball of my feet, I thought it would be better to use my zero drop Altras this time. Probably a mistake because they don’t have as much padding as the Speedgoats. My entire foot was killing me, using those and was worse than ever. On my AT hike I sent the Altras home at Fontana Dam and had my Speedgoats sent, because my feet needed the padding. The Altras are fine for day hikes but I just can’t use them on multi day hikes I guess. Chunky wasn’t in shape for hiking that distance after being at home during my thru hike. After I got back we only hiked a few shorter day hikes because of my feet. I was worried he would be too tired and sore. He probably would have still done better than I ended up doing. Lol

Looks like you had warmer weather than last year when we hiked it (VetRuski) everything was froze and slick in parts. I might do it this year if it wont be too cold. I finally went to the Dr I have bone spurs in the knee cavity guess that was causing all the inflammation. I go back at the end of this month to see what the treatment plans are.
@hikingmovie10 ай бұрын
The first day was the warmest. Right around freezing at night most of the hike. Just above the first day or two and just below after that. It was nice for hiking. I am glad you figured out the knee pain. Hope you can get some relief. My feet have been bad since the AT. Haven’t been able to hike much.

@@jamesmckibbin2067 Thanks for the tip. I am waiting to get into my chiropractor now. I need to get an X-ray to be sure it isn’t a stress fracture. Will definitely look into a massage if it isn’t fractured.
