Yeah, in America we have an unusual situation. Unlike most places, we feel we are entitled to a level of freedom most do not enjoy. Sadly, there are those who wish to take advantage of those freedoms and do heinous acts with them, but we still choose that freedom. It’s hard to explain to somebody who would trade freedom for being taken care of. I have always seen it as the true definition of freedom. If a government enables its citizens to wield such awesome power, it is a government that loves true freedom. And most importantly, it’s a government who has sufficient respect for its citizens to trust them with such a responsibility. That’s what a government of the people should do. It may be weird to the rest of the world, I fully acknowledge it. But for those of us who see how special it is, it’s everything. The Second Amendment is not about guns at all, it’s about freedom. Freedom from tyranny, freedom from bullies, thugs, and terrorists, and simply an expression of true, unequivocal freedom in general. And yes, that includes the freedom to do awful things, but far more important the responsibility of the overwhelming majority of people to possess that capability, and not abuse it. That’s where so many people get it wrong, they think it’s about guns, but it’s not.

@christopherwilliams5123 they do, that's why he referred us to the NRA website. the CCA and others also publish maps and lists. the information is constantly changing, and the details matter. so you need to check a trustworthy, accurate, and current site EVERY TIME you cross a state line that you are not very familiar with. several of the weapons displayed (all?) could get you arrested in some states.

As a retired FF a full time RVr, a firearms instructor and a nationally ranked competitive shooter who shoots 4-6 days a week and an average of 35k rounds a year I found this video EXTREMELY accurate on all points. Factual content no matter what side of 2A you’re on. I pray (like you) I never need any of my skills but if I do at least I will feel prepared as possible. Side note I got into competition shooting because my wife and son had a near miss abduction in May 2011 I’ve watched your vids for 2.5 years now & never comment but had to in this one keep up the excellent videos, & stay safe.

Home defense, hunting, or eliminating tyrannical threats. Great video and content! I would not hunt large game deer and up with a 5.56mm, it can be used yes, but it's not the most humane nor effective round for hunting larger game. Just dropping in to say hi and add my thoughts.

Izzy and MJ, Thank you for this video. I am a retired police officer with 48 years of active duty. I never go anywhere without a pistol close to hand. And, following the philosophy of one is none and two is one, I normally have at least two pistols, a Glock 21 (.45 ACP), and a stealth carry Glock 43 (9 mm). I must qualify twice a year to show proficiency, which I do. If I go out of town for an extended time, I will also have a long gun. Most often this includes my Remington 12 ga. with extended magazine. I am not recoil-sensitive, so slug or buckshot is not a problem for me. Now, if I am really going into harm's way or to an area that might harbor things that go bump in the night, I will pack my Rock River AR-15. I have three ARs, but the Rock River is the cheapest and the one I’m least likely to cry over if an overly exuberant, left-wing, George Soros funded, DA decides he’s going to save the world by taking my AR. As an honorably retired police officer, I am entitled to carry, but no matter what Federal Law says, the local DA interprets the law, and they can make it difficult. Bureaucrats … Ugh!! I once checked a firearm into the belly of a plane, and it was done according to all existing laws and the policies of the airlines. Empty gun in one bag and ammunition boxed correctly in a second bag. I had a spirited conversation with the airline rep, who insisted one box of pistol ammo was too much to carry and asked why I needed to have a weapon anyway. It required the intervention of her supervisor and an airport police officer before I was allowed to board. Larry from Texas

One was two guys, one guy was walking slowly around the truck about a fifty foot distance and his buddy in the car was slowly moving towards the back of the trailer all while I watched in the driver's seat. I had just parked and after I watched them I just got out of there. I'm not taking on two guys to one. The other incident was in broad daylight, a woman in a pickup was circling me as I watched and she finally pulled behind the trailer and tried to break in. She couldn't because of the metal strap seal. So she pulled across the road and watched me I wasn't as threatened by her, she seemed to be a novice. I left shortly after flipping her the bird.

You have locks on your doors just in case somebody wants to steal your stuff. You have a seatbelt in your care in case you have an accident you wont get as hurt. You have a gun on hand in case someone wants to hurt or kill you. All three of these are safety precautions. You hope you wont ever need them, but if you do, they are well worth having. Why some folks just decide to stop after the first two, makes no sense to me. The whole point of safety precautions is you hope you never need them, but understand the consequences if you need them and don’t have them are far worse than having them and not needing them.

Went A to Z with her weapon both in the class room and the range. She now has a carry purse with a Glock-everwhere she goes. I carry either a S&W or a Stoeger 9mm, and we have gotten our middle daughter carrying a Skye 9mm. We all have magnets in our cars to keep them ready. The biggest thing is training! Living in the south, it seems to be more common place and accepted. PD/SD cannot be everywhere or prevent everything, so self protection is vital. Thank you again and for your service. Be careful and watch your six....

I enjoy HR218 and carry everywhere. Glock 43x with a Shield Arms conversion across state lines. For everyday I carry a 43 also with Shield Arms conversion. Benelli Nova Tactical at home. Several home built ARs as well. Many people in the community are asking about acquiring and training with firearms now. Videos like yours are essential. The fact that you and your wife are both supporters of 2A makes it easier for people to relate. Great content. Stay safe.

Nice video Izzy. I care a Sig P250 at all times. I have a permit from Utah. When we are traveling I always check which states I can legally carry. The ones I can't, I unload and lock in a case in my fifth wheel until I go down for the night. There are two states I won't go to and that is New York and California. Enjoy your channel.

Thank you for your service in RV lifestyle for providing so much valuable information that are much needed and related in this time and age. I have been a gun owner since the day I turned legal to own one. I'm now 41 years young and never remember a time that I didn't have a few in the house as I am the protector of my household. Wife and I with our 3 four legged companions have been full-time rv dwellers for the past six years and counting. Having the right tools and equipment to eliminate a threat is always our main priority and constant proper training is needed every time. Really like my current Glock and Delton 5.56. but I might have to push Christmas early this year just to add a new family member "The Protector and The Judge" as an early present for my household. Stay safe and keep up the good work. Love and prayers from the Nevada Desert!🤠

Thank you guys for having the courage to make a video like this. As the world gets more woke, we become less safe at home, work, in public and yes in our RV. My wife and I just returned from a 2 month, 6,200 mile trip to the northwest and had three 9mm and a 380 with us. Yes we were aware of the states that didn’t like us having guns. But if push came to shove we had protection. I have all the guns you show but the AR. It is now on my “to do” list. Love your channel.

I carry my "childhood" 20ga ... the same one I first shot squirrels with as a ten year-old... in the mid 1960s. Well maintained, it shoots perfectly considering 60 years old. BTW, there's far fewer restrictions across state lines on shotguns than handguns. Although a shotgun makes an incredible mess and would likely leave a large hole in the RV wall, I'm still alive and the bad guy "had a bad day".

I also carry my 9mm pistol (unfortunately without the brace). The 9mm pistol fits quite well in a backpack with the folding stock (buffer tube).

RV campgrounds are usually pretty tight, very concerned about over penetration in these then walled coaches, any comments on appropriate backstop during an encounter? Ammunition- pellet vs buck? Would love to see a video on national CCW, reciprocity and how to best carry and store in a coach. Love my Mossberg 590 Shockwave, hopefully get clarification on forearm brace soon! retired 24 year Infantry, and spent 8 years as an LEO (that just just isn't for everyone), along with police and military firearms instructor. It is MY job to protect me and my wife. We are full-time RVers, who happen to live in Canada (my wife is Canadian), and we spend roughly equal amounts of time in the US and Canada. Interesting to note that, according to the Prime Minister of Canada, there is NO right to self defense. Now, if that were the case, he would have MANY more police officers so we would be safe. But, alas.... Now, as an American, we have "provisions" on that side of the border that are along for the ride, as it were. They are left behind when we cross the border north to avoid any possible confrontations with border officers (they have a tough job, I respect them, and try not to give them a hard time). You hit every point accurately. Now, I have an abbreviated version of your tools, but my wife is also capable of using everything available. I made sure of it....

You are doing and saying what everyone should be listening to. It can happen anywhere anytime - having a weapon for protection is a necessity of today's culture not knowing when or where the next incident may happen. Like what has been said many times - not having a weapon for protection of family and self is just playing a form of roulette - when you need it and don't have one it will be too late. Great video - Stay safe ! 😎

this is by far the best video you guys have done. In all the years my wife and I traveled, we had concealed permits for most of the states, other then calif or Ill, two states we had no interest in traveling in, I felt safer having permits in the other states we were in. So many of the people in USA who are getting death threats, they are known as Grannies with guns, these days are getting to be like the old west and everyone will have a gun for protection. some peoples fearless leader said we do not need an AR and should buy a shot gun. Since he is not my leader I bought both, an AR and a shotgun. the store told me since the shotgun is for home protection, they sold me a box or two of shorties and you can load many more rounds of shells. I knew an old guy that told me that some guys go to town and buy a beer and he went to town and bought a new fishing lure, I go to town and buy a box of shells. since I an old now and by myself I buy by the case. I have to control myself when it comes to this topic, I will get hate mail for sure now. So,e times I feel sorry for any one who wants to break in to my house, not really but I lie a lot. I bought a service gun from a retired deputy sheriff from Calif some years back and as he was walking away from me he turned around and said,"In case you are wondering, I did not shoot any one with this gun, but one night I made two guys pretty darn sick."

Great video, My wife and I were Full Time RVers for 2 1/2 years. When we downsized from our sticks & bricks to the RV, we had to sell most of our firearm collection, but we kept a few firearms each. We knew we would be going through some unfriendly firearm states, so we had decided to keep our lever action .357 mag. rifles and our .357 mag. revolvers. (along with our lever action .22lr rifles & revolvers). Our thinking was: "If we ever got pulled over, and for some reason they searched our RV, it's a lot easier to explain hunting and target shooting firearms, than it would be to explain why you have a bunch of tactical firearms" in our RV. Retired LEO's don't really have to worry about things like this. They will most likely get a pass if stopped by another LEO. And correct me if I am wrong, but retired LEO's are allowed to carry in every state? So, what might be okay for you, may not be okay for average citizens. I reload my own ammunition too, so along with the firearms we had in the RV, I also had basic reloading gear with me. (Powder, primers, bullets, cases etc. Along with my dies and Lee hand press) If you are going to carry a firearm in your RV, it's probably a great idea to subscribe to "Attorneys On Retainer" and or the USCCA. Because if you ever had to use your firearms to defend yourself, you will need legal representation.

I'm glad I found this video. I wrote this in the comment section of a year old video you had put out, so I just copied it and will paste it here as this is a better video for my response. Greetings, I'm a Montana boy, have 9 years of LEO experience and training, a hunter, camper, and an avid firearms aficionado. All of what you said is great advice and can't overstate the importance of training for muscle memory and mindset. Your video title mentions RVing, but you didn't touch much on weapon use while RVing. That to me would include while going down the road, stopping at restaurants, rest areas, gas stations, and finally out in the woods. Another thing I would suggest is having bear spray handy for 2 and 4 legged problems. Lastly, as I'm sure you're aware of, is we learned that our handgun is what we use to fight our way to a long gun which is much more effective in many ways. What kind of long gun(s) would you have on board for different scenarios like someone or something is trying to break in your RV, or you're outside at the campfire and meth heads or a bear come strolling into camp, what would you have at arm's length? That kind of stuff. A 12 gauge with 00 buck is a good candidate with the last two rounds being slugs. You can substitute AR's, the 45/70, or whatever. A pack of wolves, an AR for example ....... ask me how I know. Meth labs out in the woods here are common in and around Yellowstone Park, along with skunks (high percentage of skunks are rabid), coyotes, wolves, mountain lions, black bears, grizzly bears (been stalked by two at once), moose, bison (charged twice in the wild), and human vermin. I've got a lot of stories out here. Please keep the vids coming. Typically camping or hiking, I'll have my Glock 20 (10mm) with an aftermarket barrel to handle the 220 grain hard cast bullets or a 44 magnum revolver with 320 grain hard cast bullets for penetrating big critters as plan B. I've decided that they'll work pretty good (but not the best choice) on 2 legged issues, but it's better than having my G17 with 9mm hollow points to get a bear out my lap. Plan A is either my Tactical 870 with the 00 buck/slug combo using the Brenneke Black magic slugs (much better than foster slugs), or one of my large bore 444 Marlin or 45/70 lever guns with hot hard cast bullet loads which will pole axe anything, out here anyways. I would be interested in your choices. Rarely do I have 2 legged weapons or ammo out camping, hunting, or hiking. As Ruark said " Always carry enough gun". However, once back into town I'll switch back to hollow points in the Glock 20 or switch to a smaller caliber with effective anti-personnel ammo, still the shotgun, and AR although sometimes if I'm feeling old west, I'll substitute the AR for my marlin 30-30. Having 300 yard capability is less important in my opinion as you're going to have to justify your actions for shooting at ANYTHING in town. The pistol, shotgun, rifle combo is what we had in our Sheriff vehicles is what I'm used to. There isn't much you can't deal with.

In today’s world I agree . Traveling unarmed is risky. I don’t want to upset anyone but I was raised to have protective tools. I do not concern myself with carry laws. We were taught better to be judged by 12 then carried by 6. Leo friend’s recommendation was at 70 years old to carry and travel protected. I like your choices of firearms. I don’t have a AR type rifle living in California and their restrictions hinder the use of such a rifle. I have a alternative rifle. I have Pump 12 and run 00 buck. and a 9mm. Hand gun. Thanks so much for this video, it was informative and real. I'm 74 years old and retired from a 42 year career giving anesthesia.. born and raised in the south. I'm not a pepper and always thought those preppers are nuts.... but now I'm a prepper and along with that goes my personal and my families protection. If a large portion of America looses electrical power, I have heard it won't be many days without power, food and communication that civil unrest will erupt. What were once good everyday people are now out looking for food, fuel , anyones home energy supply like solar battery backup, just anything they want and they know that the police most likely won't be able to intervene so they grow into packs of people crashing into homes and most likely , they will have those scary black guns. That would be so sad if it comes to that but desperate people will do crazy things to get what they need to live. Hopefully it won't come to that. I have all these guns in my home except for the tactical shotgun. I have an old shotgun I used in dove and quail hunting as a kid. And today I shot for the first time my new AR15 semi automatic rifle. It was fun although I need more practice with the regular iron sights. I purchased an entry level AR manufactured by Radical firearms in Texas and it ran well, no issues today with about 80 rounds through it. I paid $700 which included ammo, iron sights, new Magppul stock and hand grip in slide drab green. It is easy and fun to target practice, hardly any kick but its loud so you should use ear protection. Also I own one of those Glock handguns a Glock 27 which takes two hands to shoot. Always use two hands even if it doesn't kick much. These Rv people are telling the truth. I have several guns but I am not gun crazy , I don't think about them much and I don't desire to collect them although I do enjoy learning about old relic military weapons. This reply is way too long, thanks again for your video, I hope it causes some folks to think and not be afraid of guns.

Great video. My primary issue is that most people are not trained to handle, shoot, and store firearms. With this right to buy and carry comes tremendous responsibility. Most people aren’t skilled at using the gun in stressful situations. I appreciate your training and perspective. And I’d love to see you share more about safe storage, balancing the keeping the gun safe from others and handy for when you need it. Also, it would be helpful to know some alternatives to keeping yourself safe when access to a gun isn’t an option.

Holy cow!! Izzy and MJ first of all great video! Your comments were spot on, I won’t hold the Keltec purchase against you (LOL). I hope this translates to more open and reasonable conversations discussing how people can take responsibility for their own safety. As you stressed, when you take on the responsibility of owning and carrying a firearm, get training and keep training. When you find yourself’s back in the RV capital of the country I would be honored to take you out to the range and have some fun…

Thank you for doing this video! People need to understand we are living in bad times and we need to be responsible for our own safety! However, you've cost me $ because now I need a pistol caliber carbine! Love all your content. You're my go to rv KZbinr! ❤

KELTEC a great utility PCC, but hard to clean, gets dirty too fast, etc! NO - if I had to do it again - would DEFINITELY buy the NEWEST S&W M&P FPC! ITs everything the KELTEC could only WISH it was! Clean shooting. accurate. and only about @ $100 more?? Anyway.. well worth the change...

Excellent, MJ and Izzy, and necessary, one of the best videos that I have seen on the subject, I absolutely agree! I understand that some people don't like and/or are afraid of guns. But you cannot stay oblivious to the realities of the world we live in. I believe in our Constitution as written, I believe that law abiding citizens have the right to protect and defend their lives and those of their families. Another reality is that the gun has been invented, it cannot be "uninvented". I grew up learning how to shoot. My father was a firearms enthusiast, he hunted and competed in numerous shooting events. A gun is a tool, it cannot act on its own. That said, there are certain basic safety protocols that need to be practiced and adhered to. I carry a .380 Ruger LCP. It is small and concealable, but I do have concerns that when needed, it could be under powered, though it certainly is better than having nothing at all. You have inspired me to get back to a range and practice, practice, practice.

Love these videos!! We own all of these with the exception of the PCC. My wife and I both are licensed to carry in SC and I'm retired Army. I carry every day both at home and away. We travel in a Winnebago Revel. My biggest fear is traveling through states like NJ, NY, CA etc. and being arrested for having any of these guns. We don't stop in these states but we do drive through them. I can just see the news report: couple from SC stopped today and had an "arsenal" of weapons and ammunition onboard.
