Bro, "cultural appropriation" is a dumb thing you gringos made up, a woke-generation thing, only Americans feel offended over these meaningless things. No Mexican is going to feel offended (unless is a little b1tch) if sees a Blonde wearing a Sombrero and maracas (unless is noticeably trying to be racist on purpose). The problem with this documentary is that is an attack on reality just to AGAIN please the black agenda. Fictional, real, and historical characters should stay loyal to their socially and historically accepted version. Obviously, historical matter has a higher tier than fictional, but it all matters. As a Latino, thinking in a live-action of Coco where Miguel is Asian won't piss me off due to "cultural appropriation", it would piss me off because they are replacing a perfectly established well-known character just to please an Agenda.

I’m not African American, but this highlights the problem with American identity, you can only be White, Brown or black. These classifications were rooted in colonialism, to distinguish between the Europeans, Asians and Africans. They did not bother to distinguish between countries or tribes but selected based on skin colour. Modern genetics has shown us you can have white skin and have African ethnicity and vice versa. This, to me makes these classifications meaningless today. This is very apparent when looking at Egypt with its mix of complexions. In fact, the US, classifies Egyptians are as white regardless of skin colour. In the UK, there is no such classification, so Egyptians can be either black or white (or mixed) or Arab. So the problem highlights the inherent colourism in our societies and not necessarily racism on the filmmakers part. The uproar also exposes the stigma attached to being ‘black’. Why is there such a rush to minimise any contribution of ‘black people’ to history, at every turn. There seems to be a genuine fear that doing such will upset the hierarchy. We are all meant to be equal, aren’t we?

@@David-hc4xh Native Egyptians STILL aren't black and never were, despite the Afrocentrists trying to make out the Egyptians are recent colonizers and the place was African. Like most of N. Africa, the people there who made the societies are largely from the Eastern Med, i.e. The Levant. It was under THESE people that Egypt become a major civilisation. There was a brief period (25th Dynasty, I think) when Nubian invaders were pharaohs for a bit, but the rest were the Eastern Med bunch until the Ptolemies, who were Macedonian Greek and inbred as fiercely as the native Egyptians. Thus, in no way could Cleopatra have had the western African look the actress sports, even if her father slept around. Recent DNA checks have shown that the Native Egyptians didn't mix much with others between 1300 and something BC to 400 AD, plus we have coins, sculptures and pictures that show she had an aquiline nose, Eurtopean features and, to be honest, she wasn't much of a looker. What she WAS was a highly intelligent, informed politician, trying to hold onto her country as Rome grew dominant. The show makes her a warrior princess (nope) from west Africa (nope) who can beat up the blokes (nope). It's inaccurate in so many ways it's a farce. It's also insulting to two nations who have as much right to covet their history as anyone else. They could have made a film about the 25th dynasty and that would have been great -- I don't know near enough about them and I'd like to, but no, they decide to steal someone else's history and claim it as their own -- colonisation on a level Hollywood last did 50 years ago and were, quite rightly, lambasted for (John Wayne as Genghis Khan!).

I'm Egyptian, A COPTIC CHRISTIAN EGYPTIAN, I shout that out loud because we are the most pure blooded Egyptians out there and that's not only my opinion that's what scientists and historians also agreed on , and I tell you that every word that Bassem Youssef said is right and I totally agree with him. Yes Egypt had lots of mixed cultures throughout its history like Greeks, Romans and Arabs but the Egyptian blood didn't mix and change that much and that's because for centuries we Egyptians had a golden tradition rule to marry our cousins, and that tradition is still present until now especially in Upper Egypt(From Assiut to Aswan), although that tradition seems silly and bad from a scientific biological point of view, but that doesn't matter, silly or not we kept that tradition of marrying our cousins for centuries and that helped us to preserve our pure Egyptian blood not mixed as long as we could, and the result is what you see now and that is Modern Egyptians looks typical to their Ancient Egyptian ancestors, just look at my skin color and Bassem Youssef's skin color we are almost the same although he is a Muslim who was born and lived in Cairo and I am a Coptic Christian who was born and lived in Luxor and there is almost 1000 km distance between us, doesn't that tell you a thing or two about who Ancient Egyptians were and what they looked like? With all respect for all the black people and all the other ethnicities out there, but we Egyptians are special very special, WE ARE NOT Black or White or Yellow, Not Europeans or Africans or Asians, Not Assyrians or Persians or Greeks or Romans or Arabs or French or British or Israelites, Not Middle Easterners or Caucasians or Mediterraneans or Amazigh or Berbers or even North Africans. WE ARE EGYPTIANS, WE ARE VERY UNIQUE!

Cleopatra was an interesting, even fascinating character, but she was not a great leader! Nor is there any evidence that she ever acted selflessly, on behalf of her people, as opposed to out of self-preservation and in order to accumulate as much power as she could. It is understandable, but it does not make her a great selfless leader fighting for her people, except in the mind of the likes of Jada.

Cleopatra (Κλεοπάτρα) and her family can't be black figures because they were Greeks. The Ptolemies originated in the Greek Kingdom of Macedonia (Alexander the Great). 6:30 she offed herself for pretty obvious reasons. Augustus Caesar was going to have her as the centre pice in his triumph in the city of Rome. That would have been a LONG and HUMILIATING way to die and Cleopatra knew it. Taking her own life was the best choice in that situation. Queen Cleopatra was no fool, and she was an astute student of history. She knew exactly how Romans treated the centrepieces of their triumphs, like Vercingetorix of the Gauls. Edit: spelling

Black race is so diverse...actually quite beautiful coming from all those kings, queens, pharaohs. Cleopatra was mixed with black in her living in a African black Continent that had more skin tones, facial features and hair textures than any other continent. And Queen Charlotte was also mixed with black in her traced by six different lines from Princess Sophie Charlotte back to Margarita de Castro y Sousa.

Cleopatra VII wasn't mixed with a single African person. She was of Greek-Macedonian descent with origins from the Middle East. Her family practiced incest for hundreds of years. They didn't even learn to speak Egyptian. Cleopatra VII was the only one to speak Egyptian.

Putting aside this particular case, as a Latino I want an interesting character, it's even more insulting that they have to change the stories of already existing and famous characters, insinuating that you can't create original stories and that you can't create three-dimensional black and Latino characters therefore we need to change the skin of other characters. For me that is the most insulting part of it.

The problem with most portrayals of Cleopatra, is a beautiful actress is usually chosen to portray her. The actual Cleopatra wasn't that attractive, her detractors calling her old hook nose. However, she used her brains over her looks to keep a man's attention, as she was well versed in philosophy and military strategy.

It's an attempt at social engineering. They seek to mass brainwash society. It's no different than what was done during the beginning stages of the Chinese Cultural Revolution, the Nazification of Germany, and the Stalinization of Soviet Union. This is not a case of stupidity, incompetence, or narcissism. It's a very deliberate and malicious act. You can think of these 'Afrocentric' ultra-progressives as modern-day Nazis. That is exactly what they are. Listen to their rants about race; replace the word "white" with "Jew"; replace the word "black/malanated" with "German". What you wind up with sounds *no different* than a legitimate Nazi rant against Jews. These modern day Afrocentrics are Nazis.

The fact that they also changed why Cleopatra committed suicide angers me just as much as the rest... Of course, her rule was memorable, but her tragic death was just as much. I don't know that much about Cleopatra, so if I'm wrong, please correct me, but from what I've heard she already attempted to end her life a few times as she mourned the death of Mark Anthony. In the end, of course, other reasons such as losing her position of power could have been a cause, but it was also primarily due to her brokenheartedness. This is one of the main reasons I sympathize with her and one of the main things I remember about her.
