Oh gosh I'm an ENFJ and I am godawful at small talk. My theory about it is that ENFJ's are pretty chameleon-like in their emotional states, and most people engaged in 'small talk' are politely disinterested (they don't give a crap about what you're saying, they're talking for the sake of talking). When someone in that state asks me about school or work or something, I can't...get over their disinterest, it puts me off. But someone genuinely interested or eager or something, and I'm rambling away.

very interesting video! I love the positivity and energy of ENFJ's.

I am ENFJ body & soul, so please forgive a word of criticism ;) I feel that the videos could have better value (especially when working with ENFJs) if you did not constantly say "this is such an NF-.." - If you asked less pointed more varied questions, maybe sometimes played devil's advocate. ENFJs tend to want to read & conform with expectations. I think you would get more true, raw responses if questions were more confrontational, less patting on the back 'one big NF family' .. funnily enough.

I'm an ENFJ through + through and it's funny because I'm very aware of time + deadlines and not a procrastinator. I have daily to-do lists and am very productive. Funny how we all can still be very different.

Hahaha it's like listening to myself talk (ENFJ). Especially with the past, and future self and with the present self just running around.

As an INTP my inferior function is Fe, which is an ENFJs dominant function. I think that i could possibly develop my lesser function by watching you feeling folk talking. So bravo! and .... peace and love .. or something of that nature ....

I don't think so. INFP's have in their shadow a serious shame side, sometimes strongly. I think the anxiety of doing it wrong or having the class not like them or appreciate them or being shamed in some other way is too strong, especially since they are introverted doing a very extroverted task. I think talking in the classroom would be draining and even painful for the INFP over time done repeatedly. Therapy, one on one stuff, they are much stronger suited for for the very reason you suggest.

Don't most ENFJ's enjoy small talk?

Oh dang. How can this stuff be so dead on??? The more I read the more certain I become of being an INFP... Teaching a class would be SO highly energy consuming and anxiety provoking. I actually wonder whether having been considered to suffer from social anxiety disorder is really just my personality type. :P My personality is a disorder? Great... At least that's how it feels like sometimes.

INFP are probably the most extroverted of all the introverts. And in the classroom, while they may tire after years of teaching, at their peak they should be considered one of the best teaching types IMO.
@antanowrites4 жыл бұрын
haha I beg to disagree. I tried teaching as an INFP and it did not work out. Like, at all. It was only primary school though so I might have done better at a secondary school, but I doubt it. The subject knowledge, sure, no problem. Paying attention to 24-30 kids at once is really difficult, and I'm not organised enough, and I can lose focus too quickly. It could be different for other INFP's though.

ENFJ's are also VERY VERY able to manipulate people for reasons I can't fit in a comment. They usually have a kind, caring disposition, so they would only use this talent for good, if at all, but the "bad eggs" could easily use this to their advantage.

But isn't the perfect pedagogical situation one on one? Aristotle and Alexander? In that sense, isn't the well-developed INFP the perfect teacher.

if one wants to avoid smalltalk, and all that politically correctness, then move to the netherlands. Here people are much more blunt and honest, and skip smalltalk way much more. For example , dutch people generally consider a first date without depth more of a failure, while in the USA i've heard on the first date you don't wanna go 'too deep', while in the netherlands it might get you very far (as far as you can speak about dating in these terms). But the bottom line is when people are authentic and honest, although the opinion may not be what you wanna hear, is what you can expect here alot more than in the USA. Personally I find it difficult to talk to alot of americans I meet, because in the first instance they talk like we're the best friends, but I can not really tell whether they really like me or they're just being polite, while it's ultra clear to me with dutch people. People ask 'how are you', but they do not wanna hear a real answer. But yeah, if you're from another country (for exmaple america) then you're probalbly more trained to see (for me subtile) differences between being polite and really be interested in a person. ....So anyway...not sure why I am telling this, but if it helps anyone, it's good enough ;)

Bad ENFJ's believe their own crazy worldview, no matter how bananas it is. I think the ones that know it is a scam are ESTP's.
