Great video! This is really handy as there's nothing like this for the L300s 4g64 out there. Its clear you are very knowledgeable and take care in what you do. Thankyou for taking the time to make this video One tip/trick I'll add for anyone watching is the front middle sump bolt is about 2mm shorter than the others. Its very easy to miss and will make contact with the timing belt if it isn't placed in the right hole

Yes that shorter bolt is a killer thanks! I have stripped it before and had to re-tap with a 1/4" imperial thread.

Great vid man! Thankyou 👍... Just wondering if you have any experience or knowledge of the older 4x4 l300's??. Mine is a 1984 SC 1.8l which needs a rebuild. Trying to find out if i can replace the motor with a 2l instead, as in of it is a straight forward swap without modifications?. Love to hear back from you or anyone else who has the experience with the great & mighty l300!! 😝 😉... Cheers guys ✌️

Yes I owned an SE 1985 model with 2.0l 4G63 engine over 10 years ago. I have had an SH for last 10 years. your 1.8ltr 4G32 engine I don't think is a direct swap as bell housing probably different shape. Also try Facebook group called "Mitsubishi L300 Offroad," there's a few of the old shape owners on there.

What oil do you recommend for this engine? I have 4g64 in my 1997 Pajero, I used 10w40 but I don't know if a lower grade oil would be better.

Hey so I had the oil pickup breakoff my 4wd 4g64 engine but I found a 2wd engine out of a mighty max here in the states. How did that 2wd pan fit against the cross member/trans cooler lines? Was the drain plug accessible?
@RocketManAdventures Жыл бұрын
Hi @brodberry1428, in the L300 92 model there were no issues with either one, I even think the sump plug was in similar location. What I called the 2WD engine, I have recently discovered is called a "6-bolt" 4G64 (1991), versus the one in my 4WD that is a 7-bolt (1993). The 6-bolt pan is shallower that the 7 bolt, so if anything you have a little bit more room. No interference that I can remember.

I’m having a hard time sourcing parts for my 4G64 in a 1992 mighty max, any ideas who I can find parts from for an engine refresh? Thanks so much for the great video!

Sorry don't know in the US, but I use Amayama for hard to source Mitsubishi parts. Not sure about engine internals, it would probably be better to find someone local - maybe join a forum or Facebook group and ask?

@@RocketManAdventures thank you for the response, I will definitely take your advice! Keep up the great work! Hope all the best for you

I recently found some things on Australian websites that they say work, performance cams for na or turbo, stronger internals and valve train things

@@derek-iy6chAny chance you can share the website? That would be a ton of help, thank you!

Hey, love your work! Just want to know if you replaced your lifters with new ones and if so did you need to prime them first?
@RocketManAdventures Жыл бұрын
Yes, per the engine rebuld manual I primed them with diesel. Used a paper clip to push the internal plunger down, dunk them in diesel and pump plunger until no more air bubbles and lifter is firm, x8 times = job done

on the 2.6L G54B, does the mikuni carb need to come out before the fuel pump can come out ? ....i have 1" clearance between the two, wiggle, wiggle, fuel pump bumps against the carb, does not clear the engine block bolts...what am i missing ?
