- As in the previous episodes, I do a 160 tkm service for my BMW F20 car
- Let's continue where we left off in the last episode!
- The car currently consumes about one liter of oil per 1000 kilometers
- It seems that the valve stem seals are worn and need to be replaced
- In addition, one of the type defects of the N13 engine is the contamination of the tips of the fuel nozzles, which causes extra engine vibration
- Vibration, you need to check fuel injectors and clean them in case of necessity
- Rough idling, you only need to clean idling valve and throttle flap in order to avoid such problem
- Let's clean the tips of the fuel injectors while changing the valve stem seals
- The gasket at the bottom of the sound insulation of the upper part of the bulkhead must not be damaged
- Remove the DME and its holder
- Since I'm also replacing the valve stem rubbers, I make room for removing the valve cover at this point
- Remove charge air duct
- Remove intake manifold. Remember the hidden bolt (5 bolts in total)
- Remove pressure line. Loosen the lower nut first. Fuel escapes when fuel lines are detached.
- Unlock locks (1) and pull off cable channel (2) from rail
- Detach rail from cylinder head and remove
- Unlock and pull off connectors from injectors
- Next, the fuel injectors are cleaned and new seals and hold-down devices are replaced
- Remove decoupling elements from injectors
- Remove the fuel injectors from the rail
- Remove the hold-down device from the fuel injector
- Remove sealing rings and support rings
- Remove sealing rings, support rings, hold-down devices and teflon sealing rings
- Clean the nozzles of the fuel injectors so that the small holes are clean
- In some of the nozzles, those holes were partially blocked
- Install the new parts on the fuel injectors
- Slide new Teflon sealing ring on the place with using the tip of the pen as a guide
- Insert new hold-down device
- Put the fuel injectors back to fuel rail
- Place the fuel rail back on the cylinder head
- Make sure guide pin (3) of fuel injector is correctly positioned in designated hole in cylinder head (4)
- Install pressure line
- Next, intake plenum and throttle body
- Remove the old intake Vanos solenoid valve and install a new one
- I also changed the Vanos solenoid valve on the exhaust side without a camera
- Set of sealing and fastening parts for fuel injectors
- In the next episode, Valve stem seals will be replaced
Let’s continue with the next episode! Stay tuned!

My purpose is to encourage people to do things themselves!
Plus, this is a nice hobby for myself and at the same time I have the opportunity to save a lot of money by doing all the maintenance myself!
I’m not a professional with cars or motorcycles, I just want to learn how to do things myself.
If you do this service yourself, always check the correct instructions in the official service manuals. This is just my way of doing it!
