Today on the podcast, we zoom our way across the pond to talk to a true plant-based gem-Dr. Gemma Newman. Gemma is a spirited senior partner in a family medical practice in the UK and the author of the new book, The Plant-Power Doctor - A Simple Prescription for a Healthier You.
Dr. Newman candidly shares that she tried all the popular diets to get rid of extra weight she gained during medical school. But despite her expertise, it was her husband’s marathon training that ultimately changed the course of Gemma’s life-and her medical practice-forever.
Today, the most powerful instruments in her toolbox are plant-based nutrition, holistic health, and lifestyle medicine. Listen as we dish on Dr. Newman's new book, a little Harry and Meghan gossip, and some British slang for good measure!
Please enjoy the delightful, Dr. Gemma Newman.

Great talk, she is a delight to listen too. My husband and I did struggle with having people who were NOT plant based over for dinner. Turns out they are always amazed that our food tastes good even without animal products...lol

Thank you RE and GN!! Slowly the message is getting to the UK! So happy! 🥦🎉 The Proof is in the Plants! 🥬🍇🥰 saving lives in slow motion...? I'd say permanently reducing blood pressure in 2 weeks with no medication was pretty fast!🍏😍

Went plant based six years ago, had high blood pressure and felt like crap, no energy and overweight. Lost the weight, blood pressure back to normal, sleep better, feel amazing, workmates give me a lot of stick, but I really don't care. Truth will always set you free :)

I love that big pharma cant advertise in the Uk & Europe or go directly to doctors that is the way it should be ,only the USA & New Zealand advertise pharmaceutical products & lobby Doctors with "samples" & other incentives to push their products 😡.if we take anything from the UK healthcare system it should be that no advertising pharmaceutical products!!!

Does the book discuss whether or not women should take hormone replacements? I follow a WFPB lifestyle and have been for many years. I have had minimal menopause symptoms such as hot flashes. THANKS for this interview!

Anything that is charred into pure carbon is going to be carcinogenic. Worrying less about some grilled veggies and you will live longer than trying to change and avoid things like having a vegan BBQ. My Grandfather was obese and smoked a few cigars in his time and lived well into his late 80s. He also worked in the produce industry and ate a plant rich diet which may have counteracted the external stress factors on the body.

I disagree, eating Plant Strong/McDougall IS a panacea - what else do you call reversing and halting every chronic disease we have? There may be some permanent damage from decades of abuse, but the difference is night and day, and it shouldn't be undersold even a bit! If you do it strictly, you thrive.
