We're working with Sparc Industries to design and manufacturing LokJaw’s custom wheels. Here’s why. Our ’66 Chevy C20 pickup will lay frame thanks to the Roadster Shop bagged chassis. But this presents a problem. We need special wheels that no one makes 8-lug wheels with our specs. The front wheels can’t exceed 8.5” wide if the guys intend to have any acceptable turning radius. And, the rear wheels must have the perfect offset or they’ll crash into the inside of the bed when it’s lowered. Back in 2012, Jonathan Peace, his father and brother, approached Gale Banks to build a twin-turbo engine for their Thunderbird. But this was no ordinary Thunderbird. The car won the coveted Ridler Award. There is no higher honor in the custom car industry. Judges pour over every nut and bolt. No detail is too small. When you’ve won the Ridler, your car is the best of the best. After graduating from the prestigious Art Center College of Design, Jonathan Peace opened Sparc Industries, offering custom steering and road wheels for high-end builds. Today, his line of billet aluminum steering wheels is priced affordably so anyone with a vintage vehicle can own one. Most recently, Jonathan began offering road wheel design and manufacturing services which is where this video begins.

Gale, I love the way that you put these creator\suppliers on a pedestal and talk up to them like they are special in their field. And they really are! But you sir, are legendary in my opinion and that of so many who have watched you and your company for decades. Masters learning from masters.

I think it would be cool if you did some US Indy style, slot-mag wheels that had 8 slots to match the 8 lugs, and then some sort of bead lock/beauty ring that incorporated the airflow needs!

I've gotta say, one of the big things that attracted me to this truck was the use, I thought, of the Black Rhino wheels that have been seen all through this project. I thought they looked great on LokJaw. I can't rightly prejudge the as of yet unfinished unseen new wheels, but I don't want to see the BR wheels leave this project either. PS...if the Black Rhino's are taking up too much space in the shop, I'll be in Irwindale exactly one month from today in my 2016 Ram 2500. I think they'd make a good pairing. 😁

I think spoked would look real good on the truck. Engineered wheels that cool brakes and help with air density is some pretty cool stuff and I look forward to seeing the final result. I also got a big grin on my face when Mr. Banks mentioned Pikes Peak! This truck build is so enjoyable to watch! Thank you!

Have you considered the pressure variance’s on the components at variable speeds, or is the amount of pressure being created going to be negligible. I just see it being an issue with excessive stress if the amount of load from the thrust is above a certain point. And will it affect steering at different speeds with the thrust on each wheel? Just curious.

@@ipanzerschrecku4732 there are some add on's for autocad to do polylines that follow equations. Especially useful when designing mathematically derived aero. He could be using Matlab or similar also and then having it generate 100 test cases, seeing what he likes, then iteratively getting to what looks good. Someday this will be an AI project.
