little tip for you take a piece of french chalk an draw it down the joint before you start welding you'll be amazed how much easier it is to see where you are going with your arc. Dave.

It's SO COLD in my garage. January and February in New York kind of kill garage work. I have to install a wood stove out there. Anyway, great to watch you have fun. The bike is going to be cool! Congrats on the new welder.

Thanks! Its pretty cold here at the moment, usually between 0 and 5 degrees celsius, although I suspect its even colder in New York

I've had the R-tech 180 for a few years now, very good for this application , small home jobs on cars and motorbikes, it has done all my jobs for me no trouble. By the sounds of your welding you have got the settings absolutely correct. That first blow through may have happened because a lot of heat built up in the metal and when you came to do that last weld you were going faster and faster with experience, and the heat built up enough for it to blow right through. Perhaps the metal was thin here also.

Yeah, really happy with it. From watching the footage back I think I might have had the power a bit high, and was unconsciously compensating with too much stick out, could be I blew through it by getting the torch closer. Hard to say for sure, definitely got a lot still to learn, but it’s gonna be a lot easier to learn on the new welder 👍

Great video it is really helping me with a similar fix I need to do. My welder is a 160 mig and it keeps causing the power to go out to the plug I have it plugged into from my house. Have to keep going back to the breaker to switch it back on. It is so frustrating. I can do tac welds all day but when I try doing a long bead or fill and build a hole it eventually kills the power

hello! I really liked the videos, I'm a big fan of the honda cb 500, here in Brazil it was very successful in the 90's. I was watching the video series and it stopped, what happened? give up? Success for you.

Thanks! The project is just paused at the moment while we get set up in the new workshop. I’m planning to start working on it again soon though 😊

My welder does the same, temperamental wire feeding and gas doesn’t flow properly. Maybe I need to invest in another too!

Well hi there, are you going to do more videos? Cos I was following step by step with my CB 500 1997 and I think the hardest part is putting everything back toget
@EnginesandUnfinishedBusiness3 жыл бұрын
There will be more cb500 videos eventually, sorry for the delay, the MR2 has taken priority lately, and then life has got in the way of that 😖 you could watch the old videos in reverse to see how to put it back together 😂

Not yet, but there will be. This project went on hold for a bit while life and other projects took priority, but I'm going to be getting back to it as soon as the MR2 is back on the road 😄
