I've checked numerous KZbin channels helping people improve their English but this one is unquestionably the best out of them. All the lessons are being conducted by native speakers, providing real life examples. It's worth mentioning that the examples are also served in an attractive manner, encouraging a listener to keep going with the video 😊👍

Can I ask something? I've been taught all my life to include definite article "the" in front of best but it isn't included in the example sentence. "It might be best to get some prices first". Can you explain why "the" isn't used here ?
@Oxfordonlineenglish13 жыл бұрын
Hi Harry. Good question. This is the form that is used when 'best' relates to a course of action, whereas 'the best' relates to something. Here are a few examples: Smart phone, tablet or laptop? What is the best (choice) for this purpose? - In this sentence, we are referring to the physical item. Smart phone, tablet or laptop? What is best (to choose) for this purpose? - In this sentence, we are referring to the course of action. Hope this helps you!

Hello teachers, I have noticed that you use a collocation (The team LEAD) speaking about a person (particularly at time 1:51 ) Is it correct? All my life I use a collocation (the team LEADER). Am I correct?
@Oxfordonlineenglish12 жыл бұрын
Hi Arman. Both 'lead' and 'leader' can be used. In business, the word 'lead' is used a bit more often for job titles. It's used after a specific department, such as the 'creative lead,' or, 'project lead.' Hope this helps you!

Hi Ajay. The correct phrase is: '...were found to be high...' This is a common structure used in the news and other types of reports. We have a lesson on different levels of using 'be' which might also help you: www.oxfordonlineenglish.com/5-levels-english-grammar-be.

Hello, i just want to mention that there is a misunderstanding for the word reference (the third slected word on the dialog) which mean mentioning to the source of informaton . on the other side there is the verb refer which mean allude to or mention . According to the video especially at 10;31 min you said that reference is equal to a file name or have the same meaning . personally i suggest that may be further from the right meaning So ,may you recheck that and let me know soon whether i m correct or incorrect.
@Oxfordonlineenglish13 жыл бұрын
Hi Jalal. I can see how that might be confusing. We didn't say that the word 'reference' was defined as 'file name.' A 'reference' can mean something that is a sign or indication or something else. In the dialogue, Martin asked if Savannah could label the designs using simple file names and somehow reference the design on the label. Savannah then wanted to clarify if that reference should be the file name or something different. In summary, Martin explained that each design will have a heading, a number and a reference (which is the file name in this instance). Does that help? You can also read the script on our website, which can sometimes be helpful: www.oxfordonlineenglish.com/working-in-a-team.

British accents sometimes sounds so hard. Some people talk so so so fast, that even the British people can’t catch the words.

Some practices: She and I don’t get along. We never geled and there were constant arguments. She said she was told to head the team but that’s just her story. She wanted to be better noticed by the boss. She wasn’t helping and always got in the way. She wanted regular updates because she was afraid to be out of loop. Actually it’s probably better if she was not on board.
