The legendary Fairlight crack-intro tune! So this is where it's from!

For some odd reason, my first ever own C64 game was this classic. Had to pick between this one and a flight combat simulator game. The cover with the violet wizard shooting lightning out of his finger tips won. Great cover. I was maybe 7 years old, and my parents let me choose one game for our new system. I remember the intro, the music, the "enlightenment" very clearly. Remember going through the manuals, very realistic and scary looking zombies, wizards and other creatures there. Very difficult game though and frustrating gameplay. But dat intro music, always imprinted in my memories.

Druid was also one of my first games. The other 2 I got then were: Brainstorm (also by Firebird) and The Eidolon (Lucas Arts)

This game had a real atmosphere all of its own - more so than the original. And the title music is brilliant.

Forgot all about this game til I heard the title screen music. That stuff stays with you even after 30+ yrs. Not quite as good as the first but its good.

I came to listen to the game's OST, only to find it had no other music! At least the titlescreen is a banger

Woot! I just remembered how much I loved this game when I was a kid. I totally forgot about it.

I think the speech was removed from the cracked version I played. Should've used original image instead. I bought this game back in the days, but never played it much on c64. Amiga version is much better although easier. Proud to say I've finished this on Amiga without saves and without a walkthrough. I agree, the coolest part of this game was just exploring and with friends controlling elementals.

Damn... I miss the old C64 -___- The games had something minimalistic and magic that can't be explained.
@amymcgee64545 жыл бұрын
Akikosdream I completely agree. Sometimes the old school games were better than what they have out now.

I only tried that one once myself and it was the Amiga version. It felt quite similar to Druid 1. Would be interesting to watch your progress.

The ZX Spectrum version was regrettably inferior to this one in more ways than just the graphics. Not only was the movement delayed, the spell that could remove poison was bugged. It just did not work, so the passage at 6:50 with poisonous mushrooms becomes very luck-based. Even Resurrection does not remove poison X( Other than that, a very fun game once you figured out what the hell you are supposed to do.

Maybe this game inspired Dungeon Explorer? hmm..

Is this one also level-based or is it structured more like Zelda 1?
@einokeino3034 жыл бұрын
Not sure what you're asking. First part of the game is open world, where you can explore freely and collect the necessary items to reach the second part. Then it gets linear.

not as good as the first, those zombies respawn far too soon.
