One here: when I am overwhelmed with 4 kids virtual schooling, I’ve learned not to do too much by myself and humbly invite the kids to join in with a few extra chores because I know I will end up resentful if I do it all alone. Also, accepting “not perfect” leaves me empty handed, acknowledging that love and growth are more valuable than perfection helps me.

Love the video, and I'm happy to say I've made a lot of progress with my envy recently. I've been making schedules and sticking to them (most days) instead of telling myself I don't have it in me to be disciplined like other people.

ESFP 7w8- Gluttony does indeed mean gluttony with food for me 😂 But it’s because of the gluttony that you described.

I can’t believe the 5’s and 7’s don’t commonly mistype because avarice and gluttony seem *ahem* identical lol

Can you give an example of each number by using popular movie or TV characters? Specifically childhood actors playing a specific character on screen?
@enneagramandcoaching4 жыл бұрын
Dandee, I don't have any examples, but here is a website I found that has some ideas on this bookriot.com/the-enneagram-types-of-99-fictional-characters/

Good stuff! This made me wonder would this show up in wings? For example, a 5w6 would struggle mostly with avarice but also with fear (or even on occasion gluttony). I guess it would be a bit like relating to your wing or stress number at times more than your core number. Pretty sure I'm an 8w9 but sometimes I can relate so much to aspects of other numbers like the 5's avarice here (it's mine mine mine and you will hear about it 😂😂)

LOL! I love your -it's mine mine mine and you will hear about it - I absolutely can see both the weaknesses connected to my paths (Growth & Stress) show up in my life.

I'm definitely a 5 and yes I feel most comfortable when withdrawn emotionally ie detached from people. My confidence is in that space. I'm currently deciding on divorce because my family doesn't understand my need to be alone.
@enneagramandcoaching4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for sharing your experience. I feel like part of my life mission sometimes is to help people understand that a type 5s need for alone time is not wrong or anything to do with them.

@@enneagramandcoaching Thank You because learning about this along with the Myer's Brigg test (INFJ-A) has help me to not feel so awkward or different from others... Like in a bad way. I honestly still feel different but I'm more than ok with it now ☺️ Thanks for sharing your knowledge!

Good video, thanks. But... how do you deal with sloth? When I don't even know what I want, what my dreams are or where to start looking for it, it makes it even more tempting to mumb myself back to sleep, telling myself it's fine even when it's not. Alternatively, it stresses me out to 6, which finds reasons not to try anything new by being skeptic or foresee bad outcomes. Can you or other 9s out there relate to this?

I think it’s hard sometimes differentiating 9 from 5 and if you’re a withdrawn person like I am, and I tend to focus on absorbing information more than I focus on interacting with people. I tend to prefer to be in the background instead of “up front.” I think I’m an introvert, and I would rather develop a relationship with a book than with a person. 😂

Sloth is a bad description of the sin of type 9. I would call it dissociation or overwhelm, not sloth. That sounds negative like laziness.

See, I knew I missed one. Let's see, just pull out the big ol' book of Matt here and... _blows dust off the cover_ Sheesh, when was the last time I looked at this thing? An hour ago? I really need to get a cleaning service. Envy? Check. Someone else has it better than Wing 4. Avarice? Check. No one can understand my knowledge. Core 5 Fear? Yep! That was something bred into me a long time ago. Wing 6. Gluttony? Sure. More knowledge, more things, more more more. Unhealthy 7. Lust? _peeks over book_ Eight... Can... can you please put on some pants? That's not what this lust means, thank you. So yeah, that is about right. Just -- _rubs temples_ No, Eight. I'm not helping you pick out a shirt. Just... Go to your room. You... You should just go to your room. Please. I think you were spot on with the 5 in a good space. I have counseled so many people in my day. I think I started doing that when I was seven, but that was also a form of one abuse of the many I have been through in my day. Still, it is great to be able to help people with -- No, Eight. Go away! _sighs_ Lust, amirite? Thanks for sharing this, I gotta keep digging in for the treasures you provide!
