I'm a 5w4, and I've always been close to my mom. I think that the reason why I'm so detached is because I frequently dealt with rejection and verbal abuse from my peers (and some adults) when I was a kid. (I had undiagnosed and untreated ADHD and autism, so I always stuck out like a sore thumb.) My detachment is no doubt a means of self-defense, but my mother has always been a source of unconditional love and support.

Thanks for sharing your experience Delilah. My brother is a 5 and has a similar experience with my mom. The childhood pattern is mostly defined by not feeling like there’s a role for you in the family. Did that part resonate?

@@YouveGotaType Well, I guess I had some confusion in my early years, because I had a single mom at a time when single parenthood wasn't so common. All of my classmates and most of the child characters I saw on TV had a mom, a dad, and siblings. I was an only child with a mom, but no dad or siblings, so I definitely felt different.

Same here. I never fit in with kids my age and was/am close with my mom. I don’t have ADHD or Autism (that I know of). I did have bad anxiety that caused me to have frequent panic attacks, which is what made me stick out from other kids. I’m also a 5w4!

I am a self-preservation 5w6. You described me 100%. I am a minimalist. I am very independent. I am socially awkward. I hate small talks. I had 4 older sisters, one with special needs. Yes, i had an unspoken agreement with my parents about not expecting much from them if they don’t expect much from me. People drain me. I prefer staying home on a Friday night reading a book on history than sitting in a noisy bar attempting to converse with people. I am too critical of my work and often delay submitting my projects because i always feel like it’s not researched or polished enough…

I learned today that I’m a 5. Lost my mother at a young age, never had much of a relationship with my father. I was always the odd one amongst my peers. Detached, isolated & constantly researching different topics, so that I can become competent at everything. Being competent at various things makes feel as if I’m on top of the world. Now I understand that I have to make time for family, friends & most importantly myself. Working to be a healthy 5.

I've worked hard since a kid to become a healthy 5. I'm not very experienced in much of anything. But have stuck my fingers into a lot of different things enough to communicate about them to a point. Except my empathy, I'm very enduring and considerate to a fault sometimes. I'm working to become more versed in subjects that'll help me succeed. Healthy 5/4 at what cost 😅

you always sort of apologize that the content of your videos may be too serious or heavy or that you dwell on one topic for too long . it's not extreme though, but maybe you need to hear it once more (alongside with all the positive feedback in the comment section): your videos are super informative, well structured and expansive in the subject, while being compact and perfectly digestible. oh, and about the subject: it is an important one, and those who are interested in enneagram will be patient enough to sit through even longer vids, especially if they are so well put together. so congrats, and keep up the good work ;) (a type 9 here)

I really appreciate this support / affirmation :) I definitely anticipate the critiques and try to navigate them ahead of time (type 1 inner judge going 24/7). Also, I do think some types are naturally better at handling the heavy critiques and tough subject matter, so my disclaimers are more for my type 2s, 3s, and 7s that are here for the love, affirmation and/or fun of the enneagram - not the dark dive into stuff like childhood trauma or ego deconstruction ;) I’ll keep tying to soak in the support of these comments and be less apologetic though 🙌 so thanks again for the kind words!

Best explanation, and the easiest to digest video ever! I'm a 5w4-SP, INTP. I consider myself a minimalist. I love staying home. When I was a kid, my older sister suffered from migraine badly, so she was always be the priority between two of us. My mom was so needy and emotional, only to me. I don't like small talk. At work, I was praised a lot for being able to stay calm and get the jobs done in serious situation when most people are so emotional and complaining.

I feel called out, damn. Tbh I felt relieved when I read up on the Type 5 personality trait. Like “oh- I’m a normal person.” I remember before being told that I’m “Cold but well meaning.” While a lot of my behavior leans towards the unhealthy side, it’s nice to know that there is a better way for me to live my life without forcing myself to become someone I’m not. there are realistic goals I can set for myself. I also like how Type 5s are often artistly creative because I’m also like that. I never could quite explain it before until recently. I love art and making art. Art is pretty, yeah. And I love the storytelling aspect of it and the emotions it stirs in people. But I honestly end up thinking less on the emotional side and more on the technical side. With art you are constantly learning and honing your craft. Artists never stop trying to improve their skills even when they’re old and grey. I love learning new artistic skills and analyzing how things work in the real world so I can accurately represent it on paper/ screen. Another thing I realized is that I’d rather be stressed out than bored.

Well done. I laughed several times thinking how someone who is essentially electricity (virtual you), could describe so many of my behaviors so accurately. Clearly I am generic! As an INFJ with the 5w4, my first "check" for any insight is "if I see it, surely everyone does"--those patterns. Renaud Contini did a fine video on types 5 and 4 and I recognized those traits you describe here. You described it more thoroughly. Thank you.

@19:00 I Like intellectual 'push back'!... It's like sparring. If I am wrong, I learn something. If I am 'right', they do. I admire those who defend their point of view, with facts. I detest ppl who are needy, lazy or just go with 'authority's narrative', go along to get along, without challenging or THINKING. I don't mind being wrong. It means I have a Blind spot, to Investigate, within my Self. 🙌

Good content. (That's high praise, btw.) The only thing I disagree with is the idea of using intellect/competence to intimidate people. That may be how some types (esp. those not in the competence triad) experience it, but it has nothing to do with our intention. I think we default to "just the facts" because it's safer, more reliable, and less volatile than a free-for-all emotional contest where "he who yells loudest wins." We're very bad (by default) at asserting ourselves, so we try to avoid situations where the outcome depends on a contest of wills. We neither have the interest nor the tools to advance our ideas on stubbornness alone (like an 8 would), so we ensure that relevant information will be the deciding factor, rather than charisma or badgering forcefulness. To those who don't make decisions based on information, our resulting insistence on sticking to the facts might be seen as intimidating -- but it's still driven by self-protection, and not an intention to affect others in any particular manner. It's similar to the idea of control: we only want independence for ourselves, not control over others.
@YouveGotaType
@YouveGotaType 2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching and sharing your perspective! I'm speaking in general terms, rather than personal terms. I definitely agree that some 5s are how you described it to be when using your intellect/competence, and others do use it as a weapon for self-defense. Like everything in the enneagram, it all depends on the individuals level of health. Also, I'm not so much describing these tendencies as an "intentional" response, but an ego response, which is often subconscious. I certainly agree it's not about controlling others as 5s at their core are typically survivalists, not conquerors. As a Type 1 myself, I totally understand where you're coming from on the "we don't intend to intimidate" perspective. The hard thing is to acknowledge that our well-meaning behaviors do cultivate a space that is more intimidating for others (specifically less intellectual, more simple or emotional folks) to meet us in. It's like how Yoga is so inviting and well intentioned, but if you're an inflexible dude who sits on the couch all day, it's intimidating as hell to go to your first class. That's all I'm saying :)
@yeshua-on-wings
@yeshua-on-wings 2 жыл бұрын
@@YouveGotaType Thanks for the reply. I see what you mean about the ego response. In that regard, I still think intimidating might not be the right word, as it's specifically directed toward the experience or perspective of another person, whereas the unconscious motivation (ego response) is something more like establishing impersonal boundaries -- e.g. only engaging in discussions that are rational rather than emotional.

I found enneagram 5 as something extremely relatable, I’ve always been detached from my emotions and life. Even though I was pretty much neglected as a child, which makes me think that I’m possibly a 4. I was never close to my parents, they never liked it when I questioned their logic. Thing is, I’d love to interact with people around me, since I pretty much crave for the connection (yet I get avoided or pretty much dismissed. Which I’ve found interesting). I have tendencies on making countless researches, due to how I wish to expand my views and able to help those around me as well. I enjoy making observations, since I personally find people interesting. I do get very argumentative, due to how I’d like to know what others know. I love theories by heart it’s just. I heavily prioritize my own time too

This is enough information that I feel like I got several therapy sessions' worth, from work quality insecurity to learning to trust in social relationships. It feels exposing to know that my type feels at home in complex subjects but fears daily survival and basic chores - I don't know what to do about that. You're right on when you say that dance and bodily activities are good for 5s. I'm a 5w4. As a young child, I was actually outspoken and bold. But I was constantly berated for my outspokenness by my family and other adults in my life. (Probably also a bit of sexism, because I'm a girl. As an adult, I've looked back and seen no good reason for being shut down so hard.) I also always got weird looks from other kids for my niche interests. On top of that, my dad was never around and my mom was a very introverted 9w1, while my sister had major issues that I'm not going to dig into. It seems like 5s start out like 8s, but through feeling neglected/getting shut down, we retreat inward because that is our safe space where no one can criticize us for being ourselves. Edit: I've also just remembered that my extended family would straight up make fun of my sister and I for niche interests that didn't fit with their "southern" dynamic. It got to the point where digging into those interests more and being "different" felt like a rebellious behavior. It definitely shaped how I have a desire to be somewhat abrasive to people.

Hey Colton, it was a hell of a enlightning video! I have a one thing that makes me little confused, just stick with me. I started to question and research about Enneagram for the last two days. It was an suggestion from a friend whom finished her doctorate at Psychology. She made me resembled as an Type 5. And oh boy, I guess you already forsee how enlightening and exciting this was. As I watched several videos (and recently this one and your Type 5 playlist) I can't unsee how relatable to me all of these are. Even the facts that what makes Type 5 feel attracted to Type 8's. And as an person who studies Cinema at university, it quitely suprising and interesting to see some of the well-known persons who considered as an Type 5 by Enneagram Institute are directors! (Hitchcock, Kubrick and Burton) It's even a little bit of weird. So, I'll head to my question then; So, I took the 16 Personalities test (which is an Myers-Briggs results oriented test) 4 different times throughout the years. And the result never changed, it's always resulted as INFP (sometimes -T sometimes -A) So I recently learned from you that is a meaning of INFP is mostly Type 4 primarily and Type 5 secondly. As I watched your videos about Type 4 there is also something that I relate with. So I've got a little confused here, I think I'm feeling a bit more close to Five since I have more things that I can relate to Five; but on the other hand the INFP is still means 4w5. So what would be a better judgement here? To me 5w4 is slightly better to express myself but I'm literally feeling confused. And as I watched a video of yours about Myers-Briggs test, I can't unsee that there's pretty much evidence that I might consider mainly as an Type 4 and secondly Type 5. Since they're more into arts, having dominant right brain and etc. I guess I might be an 5w4 heavily combined with 4. Do you can consider this as an good and enough judgement? Or 4w5 is closer, in that type of situation? (It might seems I only asked this for Colton but eveybody can answer though.)

Thank you for sharing and asking such a thoughtful question! I always go back to the CORE ISSUE that plagues these type's ego, rather than some of the more general personality traits. 5s, at their core, fear that they are incapable of SURVIVING on their own, so they hoard resources, minimize their needs, and/or become anti-social. 4s on the other, fear that they are too emotionally dysfunctional for anyone to LOVE. So I would ask you to consider whether your central fears/concerns/motivations, center around survival & competency, or love & acceptance? One of those motivations should stand out more than the other, which is not to say you can't have both! We do in fact have all 9 ego fixations to some degree, but it's all about finding which type helps you climb out of that ego fixation the best (even if it's just 51% more 5, and 49% the 4). Hope that helps!

@@YouveGotaType Ohhh, you're right! Yep; that really helped. Much obliged! Then, I guess I count myself as an 5w4. It seems more possible on me. Thanks for reminding and making me remember that Enneagram is not about "what" but it's about "why" and it's not always about positive traits but how those positive traits exists. And they usually exist because of an negative reason. Thanks to you and LocalScriptMan, In past two days (that I've been researching this topic) I doesn't got myself into this topic like it's an pseudo-science or astrology. I'm sure this topic will be useful to me for both personal and creative wise.

I liked how you explained the difference between 5w4 and 5w6. When reading descriptions of these types, I can identify aspects of myself in both of them. However, I've normally identified as a 5w4, and the way you explained them helped reinforce that evaluation of myself. As you described the 5w6, I imagined Sheldon from Big Bang Theory, which I've never watched, because I feel like it is trying, but failing, to represent people like me. I once saw a minute or so of its prequel Young Sheldon, and I couldn't stand it. For the 5w4, the name Iconoclast is fitting considering that I used it for a Geocities website I ran in the 90s. One book I'm reading calls it the Philosopher, which is also fitting given that Philosophy is what my degrees are in. But I also find descriptions of the 1w9 fitting me well. So, I'm looking for more tangible ways of understanding the difference between these types. Regarding the shopping list, I use a checklist app on a rooted Nook Simple Touch. Before shopping, I go through the kitchen checking what I have enough of and unchecking what I don't have enough of. In an earlier comment I wrote today, I already identified Dr. Strange as a 5. I suspect he is not alone. I expect more superheroes are in the competency triad, and 5 integrating to 8 is a viable path for heroism. Stan Lee created many intellectual superheroes, including scientists Tony Stark, Reed Richards, and Bruce Banner, doctors Stephen Strange and Don Blake, the lawyer Matt Murdock, and the high school science nerd Peter Parker. Of these, Dr. Strange is the most obvious 5, since he starts out as a greedy surgeon and gains his mastery of magic through extensive study. Richards is probably a 3 given his very public persona as a great scientist, and symbolically at least, the malleability his power gives him fits with being a 3. As a lawyer, Murdock is more likely to be a 1, and he does seem driven in a way that Dr. Strange or Spider-Man do not. I don't have as much familiarity with Stark or Blake from the comic books, but in the MCU, Stark is a 7, and Blake is just absent. I've already suggested that Banner could be a 2, because Hulk seems more like a disintegrated 2 than an integrated 5. However, Stan Lee may have been a 5 who was drawing on his own 8 side to write about Banner and the Hulk.

Ah, I've also seen Tony Stark described as a 3, but either 3 or 7 would make a lot of sense for him. Stephen Strange gives off 5w4 vibes to me and Shuri (from the Black Panther storyline) seems more like a 5w6 (or maybe a 6w5?).

Great job! I'm a 5 for sure, and I could see portions of myself on both wings. I'm definitely a creative person (musician, Songwriter, actor) so I suspect I'm a 4 wing. As far as fictional type 5's go, you should consider including Wesley Gibson (the main character from "Wanted") as well, and Reed Richards too!

Very good video. I've never thought about there being three subtypes of 5's in this way before. I'd say that most of the time, my default state is avoidance. I usually avoid pain - whether it is physical, emotional, or intellectual - as much as possible. I've never broken a major bone, even working in one of the most dangerous jobs - as a ranch hand, growing up. The worst physical injury I've had was totally dislocating my left pinky in basketball practice. We were doing rebound drills and the ball landed squarely on my pinky in just the right way to pop it over to the left. Oh my did that hurt! Had to go to the hospital to get it reset and splinted. I always taped my pinky to the next finger in sports after that. I didn't want to play basketball at all, but our high school was so tiny that they pressured every kid to go out for sports so that they could field teams. The only thing I was really any good at in basketball was setting defensive screens for other players to hide behind since I was the tallest kid in school and had the longest wingspan. I also got pretty good at freethrows through hours of practice at home. I was too clumsy for anything else. I had tons of stamina too, so I was the long distance runner on our track team. I was super clumsy, but that rarely led to me hurting myself because I quickly figured out how to avoid getting hurt by avoiding doing the things that I was clearly too clumsy to do as much as possible. When I couldn't avoid it, I'd figure out ways to minimize the chance of hurting myself. A good example is driving nails into boards. Very difficult for me to hit a nail with a hammer, so to avoid hitting my fingers, I'd hold the nail with a pair of needle nose pliers instead.

Great work and sharing! In my understanding, instincts are fundamental to type...more primitive, as they are instinctual, built-it. Type is more superficial, although, both are bound and integrated, clearly. Also, I would encourage anyone to seek out the Ennegaram Tritypes which are offered via Katherine Fauvre here on YT. Tritypes will bring you home much more specifically, accurately than just types and instincts, wings. Keep up the great work!

Thanks for the kind words! I would say tho that the tri types are already embedded in the nature of the enneagram triads. I would say that the true fulfillment of your enneagram type brings you into contact / connection with each of the other 8 types. My last series on the Triadic Self covers this in much more detail and is to me a better way to understand a tri type theory.

It finally dawned on me why deciding between the two types 5w4 / 4w5 never actually felt possible, fair, nor completely honest... Though undeniably being these numbers, it's also undeniable that 5w4 covers half of me and 4w5 covers the other half. Like 2 circles next to each other, but being a 3rd circle in the middle overlapping one half of either circle. Consistently relating to only half of either type. Making it almost always seem like I needed to decide/accept one half of me present in one type by betraying, disregarding or diminish value of the other half of me present in the other type.. And then you mentioned the "space in between"..... 👀 I can't fly with only one wing. My heart/feelings give meaning to my head/thoughts and they give reason in return. This crucial and vital combination in balance goes so deep, that bridging the gap between both head/heart to that intense extent, is because doing that is my actual core self. "It's never easy to see at first, what's always hard to hear at last" Essentially making type 'w54w' feel more full circle, hehe. Having it be two wings instead seems vastly more accurate [on a personal level, of course]. Anyway, Thanks for the sparking this weird personal 'in a nutshell' thought I had that genuinely is giving me some peace of mind about the ?which? of the two types conundrum hehe.

Self preservation type 5 wing 4 .... absolutely astounded and uncomfortable with how accurately you described me. I feel almost....naked. As an interest, for others with my same traits, what were your best subjects in school? Mine were Math and English. I think this fits so well...most people are usually math and science related or English and arts related. My intellectual ability draws me towards math as it is purely rules and formulas, a world that I would love to live in. And it ties into English a bit as well because there are rules within language. But my wing 4 tends to push me to the creative side, I love being able to use these rules of language to tell a story or create a whole new world. I've always wanted to be a writer, it's a profession that relies solely on yourself...but my ideas seem to stay stuck in my head and never make it down to paper (unless I am tasked with writing for school or work). I love fantasy worlds and 90% of my freetime is spent with books or shows. I have over 5 months of listening time on Audible, am always finding new creators and videos to watch on KZbin, and you'll never find me without at least 1 TV show I am currently watching. I binge stories (regardless of format) like no one else. But I'm also perpetually curious. People often get mad at me for being on my phone while watching something because a question will pop into my head and I have to research it immediately....I will google any and everything. My family even used to make fun of me for how quick I was to research something if someone was unsure of something during group conversations. Anyways, not sure where I'm going with this whole post, I'm just glad to know a little more about myself, and connect the dots so to speak.

I hated sports as a kid. My Dad thought sports was very important and his "dream for me," was to be a professional baseball player. He told me this as an adult (a strange thing for a father to tell an adult son) He forced me to play all sorts of sports. The only sport I ended up liking and sort-of excelling at was tennis. Especially singles tennis. Because it was essentially an individual sport. I never considered this had anything to perhaps do with my personality at the time, I just thought I was really bad at sports and tbh, it was something I was ashamed of for a long time. My father berating me for not "trying harder" in baseball or whatever certainly did not help! As a kid, for a long time, wanted to be a scientist, but then I got into art. Art is a sort of science in many ways. Its a learned skill and anyone can learn it, art also requires an intense amount of thinking. I probably spend more time conceptualizing, skethcing and *thinking* about an illustration before actually making it. Partly for reasons of perfectionism-- well, mostly. The great part about art is you can express your philosophy of life and all your ideas with it. Wether its a comic(a combination of visual art and narrative), animation, illustration, or a story. I've come to believe that art is actually the key to human culture; or at least the ultimate expression of a human group, and I mean that in the biological sense as well because culture is a result of physical, biological beings. Am I crazy? Am I overthinking this? No, its the children who are out of touch! Lol. But seriously, I think 5's need to appreciate art more, if they don't!

In some other videos by you I've watched you've said that for example, type 2 might look like 4 or type 7 as 5 in childhood, as basically their healthy egos. Is it also true for 5s? I can recall myself being way more bold, always protecting who I thought was a victim, extremely assertive to the point at which there was no point at to force me to do anything that did not make sense to me, as well as unintentionally ending up as a leader of kids in preschool. But later on I've kept failing to fit in, due to low emotional intelligence at the time and refusing to entertain anything that's illogical, being very blunt about things and how I thought everyone else was really stupid. Which got me bullied and that killed my naivete and made me very closed off, deeply distrustful and retreat to the world of my imagination and intellect. It just kept on going until I've hit a point in which I couldn't have a conversation irl properly, in the meantime spiraling into researching very dark things and only rly talking to people online who did the same. It's not like I really want to move away from people but most of them definitely drain me. I tend to routinely overprepare in accumulating theory before acting, or refusing to just listen to good advice that could speed things up, instead of me wasting time kind of reinventing the wheel haha. I've become more healthy as of late and find myself taking more of a proactive role in social interactions. My emotional intelligence also had improved so much due to extensive self-study of psychology and dealing with social anxiety. To the point at which I can read people like books, nothing can hide from me. And can help them help themselves, make them see what they need to improve within to heal what's broken, to break through obstacles, believe in themselves etc. It's quite shocking there's a 5 who's a life coach! My ambition is to be an art director because I actually love bringing the utmost potential out of creative people! It makes me so happy to contribute that way, honestly. I just sometimes feel a bit too emotional for a 5 but maybe it's the 4 wing? I like going outside but not really where there are lots of people. A hike in a forest is something I love a lot, it relaxes me so much but a walk in city centre is just exhausting and unnerving. I'm an ENTP btw, but the more introverted subtype in socionics. Do you think I could be a 5? I feel more distractable than the typical 5 but I seem to lack the courage, enjoyment of unexpected situations I've not prepared myself for, at least mentally, and distaste for anything but positive that 7s do. I'm naturally very caring and empathetic to the point of hyperempathy, which used to be so debilitating sometimes that for a good while I've lost the ability to feel that at all, as self protection mechanism. I really wish to help but am afraid of people coming to actually depend on me and me not being able to consistently deliver the amount of emotional energy needed. I'm more inclined to help by sharing resources and explaining things to them. I only really have the energy for one special person, to be supportive emotionally. Which ig works with me being an sx dom. Maybe being sx/so makes me less of a hoarder of knowledge. I love accumulating it but sharing as well! But only with the ones that will appreciate it.

So far I've related most to type 4w5, but here I'm sorry to say I really relate to that feeling of resenting social interactions -- or at least, social interactions I feel forced or coerced into. I'm not sure if that's a personality trait per se, though, or just a learned response, since I seem to attract people who are looking for some sort of caretaker and become angry if I reject them or try to establish boundaries. I just end up feeling so used, like they can only see me as something they can harness to serve themselves, as something they're owed that's being taken from them, and not as my own person with my own dreams and motivations who yearns for a life of my own.

5w4 sx here. It describes me to a T. I consider myself to be pretty unhealthy, especially right now, but surprisingly I already do some of the practical tips you described. I even started dancing recently, which you mentioned, and it’s hilarious. It does help indeed. The time I spend dancing is the only time in the day that my mind is empty, in a good way. I’d say that my biggest problem right now is procrastination. As I’m watching this video, I’m procrastinating. I feel the need to isolate for some time in order to get myself together tbh. Isolation isn’t always bad. It’s even good when you limit your social interactions to a very few people with whom you have a close relationship. And you spend your alone time productively, doing things that will benefit your mind. That’s what I wanna do. Interact only with 2-3 people and spend a whole lot of time alone. What drains me the most is the small talk and pretending I have to play with acquaintances. I’ve been trying to getter better at it because I feared that some day I may end up lonely with no friends. But I’m figuring that shallow relationships make you feel as lonely as solitude does when not spent productivily

Is it possible to be split in the middle between 5 & 4? I have mostly both 4 & 5 with a bit of other types of course, but I'm unsure if I'm a 4 wing 5. Or 5 wing 4. I also have some characteristics of 1,2,9... (Perfectionist, peacemaker.) Perhaps you could help.

Well we all certainly have a bit of every type within us! That's why I always say the Circle is the most important part of the enneagram (because it links us all together, rather than makes us feel different/unique). That said, we only have one primary type, because it's all about having a core motivation and a core fear/fixation. I would wash away all the traits you may share with other types, and think about what is driving the course of your life/identity. The fact that it's hard for you to identify one type is the most telling aspect of it all :) As 6s and 9s have the hardest time with this aspect of their journey towards self-awareness. If you're identifying with a strong personality in your life (like someone intelligent who is a 5 or someone strict and moral who is a 1 or 2) that is a great place to start. 6s identify with authority figures and 9s identify with everyone around them. That's pretty much all I can say without knowing you personally! Hope it helps :)

I find it interesting that the type 5s mentioned at the end are all male. As a female type 5 I feel like folks want to see me as a 9 or try to channel my desire to withdraw to a sort of type 2 service that works behind the scenes. I would be interested to know more about the enneagram and how our society's ideas of gender affect how our type is expressed and perceived.

Just played out that way based on the joke I tried to make about childhood nightmares. Some female 5s: Emily Dickinson, Agatha Christie, Jane Goodall, Jodie Foster, and Wednesday Adams on the more hyperbolic/fictional side :) Definitely tons of gender stereotypes that play into mistyping, as I've referenced predominantly in the videos on 8s and 2s, but yes, 5s definitely suffer the same situation.

Very interesting video. I did a free test and got Number 5. I am a logical person and also have artistic skills so this is valid. But one thing is out of the ordinary. Number five do not like sports but I on the other hand like sports, always do something about that. Rn only working out at the gym but like 3-4 times a week.

Glad you enjoyed it. I think there are many professional athletes that are 5's actually, like Kobe Bryant and Aaron Rodgers for example. The general pattern though is that 5s get lost in their mind, which inhibits physical activity or just prevents them from cultivating their athletic abilities. However, because 5s are so detached from physical discomfort, they can put their bodies through grueling training sessions because for them, they're only experience it as a mental test of fortitude.

I had a yelling grandfather who lived with us and a disabled grandmother living apart from us when I was a kid. My parents were good people, though, and they were the ones who were always telling me to get up to my room for my own psychological safety when the grandpa was not in the mood. Since then, I became kinda afraid of conflicts and detached from people, but I find myself excited when I hear my parents argue about business stuff. It's interesting to observe each point of view and that way to find the thing that caused the misunderstanding. It may feel like I'm the only one understanding the issue while those two are arguing (But it can be not the case, lol). Though, I think my type is 1w9 with a strong influence of the fix 5. I'm really confused. I can relate to both equally - like straight 50/50, at times favoring one of the sides with a miserable difference.

This is an upcoming snippet of my next video on mistypes which pretty much nails this experience: "9s with a dominant a 1 wing tend to be more imaginative, emotionally reserved, and move towards fields like philosophy, spirituality, or psychology. They like roles where they can play the counselor because they naturally empathize with many points of view while still maintaining a critical opinion about the what people should be doing. That 1 wing also creates more of a tendency for resentment as well as an emphasis on proper or polite behavior. Lastly, the 9 wing 1s calm, almost stoic exterior, mixed with their tendency to live in their head, makes them mistype as 5s all the time - especially men."

Thank you so much for your time & efforts & care in making these videos. Holy 🐄. I have always tested as a 5 but it has never fully resonated. You've led me to dig in more about 9s (through your channel of course) and whoop there it is! 😆 Also your videos associating the Meyers Briggs types were super helpful in understanding that turbulence. 😌🙏✨

I'm an INTJ 5w4 SP5. Here are the tips for personal growth: 1. Empathy and compassion for other people. Empathy, not information, will heal your anxiety and keep you connected and grounded in reality 2. Physical activity. To get out of the mental spyral that you are prone to 3. Let your ideas reach outside world and concentrate on one thing at time. To grow confidence 4. Let people be in your life and trust them to have healthy conflict. Cooperation is more valuable than domination 5. Humility. To maintain healthy relationships and, ultimately, to keep you healthy Thank you
