Could a 7 aggressively try to improve or fix all negative/dull situations back into their ideal “Disney World” instead of ignoring it?
@YouveGotaType2 жыл бұрын
That sounds like the 7s movement of disintegration to type 1 - which is their typical unhealthy coping reaction. 1s are controlling and constantly fixate on improving their surroundings. The healthiest reaction for 7s is gratitude and stillness. 7s are incredibly perceptive and creative - so if they can sit still long enough to see a deeper reality, they may realize even the most seemingly mundane situations can still be “Disney world.” It’s definitely a life long challenge though!

New to enneagram, im definitely a 7, imo 7s are the most versatile type as because only have they found pleasure in a variety of experience, upon stress they have the ability to revert to a state with a convenient defense mechanism e.g. using their accomplishments as a representation of themselves (3) to distract them from the lack of fulfillment in entrepreneurial success or maybe a willingness to invest themselves into an idealistic society, neglecting rationale to fuel a misplaced sense of entitlement and deservingness repressing the sense of uncertainty in life by mutual agreement (possible but unlikely) (9). point is as much as i think the enneagram might be a great tool to understand oneself (again, i dont know much about it other than your video on lord of the rings ennegram and this one) it seems inaccurate to model people by primary fear, motives, desires and infer the rest as many of those might be contradictory, maybe the other motives say arent as prominent but they might turn out affect the person, i mean thats kinda seems to me very similar to complexes (is that even a word?). slippery slope argument or special pleading if you will, but given the complexity and quantity of such alternatives, doesnt seem unlikely... also kinda odd that i thougth the ennegram was a very Christian thing, now that i understand it, i dont get how some of the more ridgid practitioners can believe in it as doesnt knowing oneself and our desires allow people to be more selfish? it can go both ways obviously, but once theres a disconnect from the through line of mutual motives that connects society or at least incentivizes the rules in place for it people would naturally deviate from it? thats always a problem of rationalizing emotions, not a Christian though, athiest agnostic ig (although atheism is more of a default state, other words lack of belief isnt a belief unless ofcourse the way we make sense of reality is presumed to be un'real' but thatd go against the premise of it. otherwise i relate to everything you said in this video, im very 7, almost so in an unhealthy way, or ig more like an unhealthy 7 melting into the worst of 1s.

I find this so odd bc I took it twice, I scored 7 and then a 5… but both are opposite, yet both are the highest bars in my chart? Almost the same length. I relate to being hungry for knowledge, always positive, very extroverted, I love to be out with friends but HATE being the main focus and like to just flow in and out of conversations, but I often forget about my own needs/health to focus on helping others or my work. I love being out and about, but in balance with being at home and studying/learning being alone. I never feel lonely and love my space, but I also enjoy being around people. I don’t really care about material things and don’t over eat or over use any substances, but I love new experiences and I’ll have a drink every so often. I’m always trying to view new perspectives, taking into account all the reasons someone feels as they do and why, trying to always see why someone feels as they do. I find the mind and how we deal with things extremely interesting, I have always had a love for studies on behavior/mental health. I let a lot go bc it isn’t worth using energy on things that benefit no one. I’m very good at grounding and taking times to be present and love to work with tinkering/building/doing art.. how am I both? Has anyone else landed a 7 and 5 or have them very close, even perhaps feel the same as I do?

@@Dancindevotion Thanks for the reply! I considered 9 for a long time but decided I am angrier than a 9 if that makes sense? Like I have no problem going into conflict with people if I feel they are being disrespectful or crossing my boundaries. Should I look at 8?
@donnathedead7554 Жыл бұрын
How would a sexual 7w8 look? The subtype is a dreamer, the wing type is the realist. Do they cancel each other out, like a realistic dreamer, or a dreaming realist?
@YouveGotaType Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure where you're getting the "dreamer" label from. But a sexual instinct in a 7w8 would actually reinforce the existing traits, not counteract them. An 8 wing adds more energy, emphasis on autonomy, sensuality, and drive to the 7. A sexual instinct merely focuses that intense energy into one-on-one connections and relational intrigue over relational commitment.

I don't get the self-worth thing. I'm a core 7 and I never felt worthless. In fact, I have had moments in my life where I looked around and thought, I wouldn't change places with anyone in the world, I love being me. I'm even going to share an arrogant thought I have. I believe in my heart of hearts that I would be the best person in the world to run it. I believe i would be the "fairest of them all" haha. Honest truth.

It's all about the levels of health. Healthy 7s = total self-acceptance. Unhealthy 7 Ego = I'm worthless so I might as well indulge all I want.
@v-22Күн бұрын
@@YouveGotaType I'm definitely guilty of gluttony, it is undeniably my capital sin, which is why I have lived in dozens of different countries around the world. You are spot on almost everything you said, but the reason I indulge, which you have touched on it previously, is due to wanting to experience all life has to offer, as much of it as possible, not because I feel worthless. I see it as mostly a positive thing, although there are times I can see that it's an attempt to avoid anxiety and confronting reality, but never because I feel worthless. 🤔

Can you have both wing 8 and 6?
@YouveGotaType4 ай бұрын
We all have some of both our wing types in our core personality. It's more about a general leaning.

Can you have both wings, with maybe one more dominant than the other?
@YouveGotaType Жыл бұрын
Every type has influence from both wings, and it's like a spectrum that people slide left or right on. Some folks are pretty split right down the middle, while others have a HEAVY influence from one dominant wing. Hope that helps!

I find that people who only comment on the fictional characters I mention at the very end are people only interested in stereotypical personality labels they can debate in chat rooms, rather than the real work of personal growth.

@@YouveGotaTypeIt’s super interesting to get such a critical answer to such a trivial comment. You are quite wrong, though, as I have a PHD in Philosophy, a master in Psychology and English and a bachelor in German from the University of Heidelberg and I have studied the Enneagram in depth for several years now. This comment was no more than a quick, fun association, as I am a seven.. I also wanted to support your channel by commenting something. I absolutely detest online debate (for obvious reasons), so don’t be surprised to have your answer ignored. As of now, you were the one that jumped to quick conclusions, btw., but if that is your association and your experience, then that’s your reality and who am I to tell you otherwise?

@@YouveGotaType (I commented because I noticed how you were able to synthesize and combine the information from several theories, books and authors in a concise and helpful way. I liked that. Don't be offended by trivial comments, as they help your channel anyway and people like me don't usually take the time to say anything at all. Don't jump to conclusions but rather trust that whoever is here watching your content is actually interested and appreciates the work you do.)

@@philosocat8295 It's fascinating that someone with so many degrees left a comment so similar to the 14-18 year old boys that find my videos. To help clarify, when someone like me crafts content so carefully and exhaustingly, you hope for serious comments about the real theories & lifestyle applications of the content. So when someone's comment is "After watching 20 minutes of this systematic enneagram breakdown, I disagree with that avengers part" you can guess how that comes across (trivial, as you said yourself). Think of it like a performer stepping off stage after 3 hour play and they ask you how you felt about the experience, and you go "Man the concession stand here sucks." I'm well aware of the positive impact comments can have on a channel - which is why I respond to almost all of them (take a scan through my comment sections). I'm also not seething with anger about this - I just gave you a cutting response to a silly comment. Could I have just left it alone? Absolutely! Hopefully we both learned something from this interaction, as I will now assume stand alone comments about the Avenger's enneagram type are either from teenage boys or PhDs! Lol what a world.

@YouveGotaType lol , I completely understand.. I just thought I liked your content and decided to feed the algorithm without giving it much further thought.
