I’m an 8w9, and the bear description is 100% accurate. You do your thing, I’ll do mine. But you touch what’s “mine” or interfere with spaces that are “mine” or “home”, you see a very no bullshit, gtfo, snappy side of me. I’m also VERY different at work than at home. Thanks for the great video. I am a 8 wing 7 and also a INFP - A (assertive) male and I am not you usual 8 or INFP as I have heard that my combination is the rarest match up for a type 8. Being a introvert 8 wing 7 and a INFP-A I can surprise people as I am very laid back and easy going but when people mix up my kindness for weakness the challenger side of me will assert myself very unpredictably and seemingly out of no where and can be shockingly discombobulating to the person it is directed at. As I have gotten older I have understood better how humility is not weakness but strength and mercy is the better part of valor. I am a fairly odd bird I think. I am a 8w9 and INTP-A male It's funny because I was a fairly undeveloped when I was a child but in my late teens I really started to grow. I was fairly quite at school but had a temper and hated to listen to authority but the teachers usually liked me, probably because I was quite. But when I started working and college I always seemed to be put into leadership positions without seeking them out. I am a executive chef now and leading just seems natural but I am not a micromanager at all. I like to teach people to believe in themselves and to become strong and independent but I will always protect the people in my inner circle.

I am an ENFJ 8w9. I believe I have a lot of patience (9) but I am unmovable when I am in my Challenger mode, just without the emotional reaction. Since childhood when I was handling a lot of stress of injustice I would feel like my heart turns into a stone and there is no much emotion left, just tentative argumentation and willingness. I am a very emotional type as you know, but in crucial moments my head gets clear and this challenger nature comes out, decent but fearless. Is an unusual combination I have heard. People normally perceive me in two drastic ways: As a wholeheartedly giving clueless naive person Or as an intimidating righteous reckless individual. Some people are intimidating “just by my presence” they say, until they get to know me and see how I am not scared of being vulnerable Some people think I am too vulnerable to ever stand up and are completely shocked when they see me do so. I love harmony, I respect rules, I follow authority, I understand other’s perspective, to the point where it becomes my hobbies to get other’s universe. But when something is unfair, false, painful and illogical. You will see that “good obedient well behaved girl” stand up, and suddenly I don’t care about authority, I don’t care about rules, someone has to stand up for what’s right. it can look very rebellious. All my life has been: -You are too young to talk like that -You are a child, accept your position and act like a child -Do you think you are greater than us? -Who do you think you are? The struggle, my Fe wants everyone to understand that I am not purposely rebellious for the sake of contradiction. I want my parents to know that since childhood I question how they do things because I am not someone who just follows around, I need to make sure that what I believe is right. I knew I had to be obedient as a kid, and a was. But whenever I could spot something wrong in what I was asked to believe or do, I would completely hesitate and start questioning them and this would drive them crazy. It was so extremely hard when I deeply wished to give them the obedience that would make them happy, but also deeply wanted to fight for what is right regardless of who they were. This contradiction inside of me is often pretty strong. It started with my parents and then with teachers, systems, religious leaders. I was not afraid of confrontation when something was wrong. But I tell you, there is nothing sadder than being deeply sacrificed and giving, basically a perfectionist people pleaser (enfj) while having this challenger fire inside that makes people judge you completely wrong. I understand my nature can be drastic, normally people get only one part, leaving out the other which is also deeply felt by me. I respect authority, rules, and harmony when I CHOOSE to. Because I chose to. But I am definitely not scared of authority and conflict, if I have to face the storm to do the right thing, I’ll do it without hesitation.

im a 8 w 7 but when I am not undergoing an intense amount of stress im a 8 w 9 (which is basically never... well actually it is just very rare) . but I really do relate to maverick.. I have been told by so many people im so insensitive and have 0 regard for others feelings. I am often called selfish because of it. My aloofness to emotion as well as dislike of emotion due to my fear of it clouding much needed decisions that need to be made cognitively. I definitely have the tendency to be very extroverted. My mother always said I have the capability to convince rock that it is a turtle... then 5 min later we would look over and see that rock suddenly turned to a turtle crawling the eff away. I know I definitely have a tendency to overindulge... I am not a recovering drug addict for no reason and I read somewhere 8w7 are most likely of all types to commit crimes of passion. I definitely understand why... because I have developed lots of patience over time. but the second I lose it, it is game over to whomever I lost it toward. I have no qualms going full on black out rage if I deem it necessary. which brings me to my final point, I read 8 w 7 and 8s in general have a tendency to sometimes come up with unorthodox ways to solving problems that may or may not be frowned upon by society norms. however, if 8s deem it the best solution, we will often push the unorthodox solution to happen/go in effect. and I relate to this because on job applications on the personality tests you sometimes have to take, it will sometimes ask "its ok to sometimes break the law if it gets the job done more effectively." I always answer unsure even those I want to put strongly agree because more than likely I won't be opposed if it is in fact the most effective solution... it honestly really depends on the law being broken. obviously I am not going to condone murder....

I'm fairly certain one of my characters is an 8, however I'm wavering on which wing she leans on. She's not one to fly off the handle, but she's a very stern, firm stiff upper-lip type mom with a quiet dignity to her, which makes me think she a wing 9. However she's not patient or accommodating overall. Though she has her redeeming moments. She has high standards her kids must live up to. She fears if she doesn't mold her kids into societies ideal for success they'll fail in life and she will have failed as their mother. Which type does that sound like to you?

It’s ok that you don’t resonate with those parts of an 8. It only matters that your core desires, fears and weaknesses align. It also might have to do with what subtype you are-social, self preservation, sexual...those play a big part. I’ll be doing a video on these things soon! Hope this helps.

I think your description of a 8w9 is colored given your husband is a w9, painting them to be supportive. The control aspect you attributed to 8w7 has nothing to do with the 7 wing and everything to do with the core of an 8. Recall, a type 7 is going to be flighty, avoidant of negativity and positive seeking. So an 8w7 will have those same influences, being more upbeat, seeking positivety, etc. But you applied the control nature of the 8 to the 7 wing. Something to think about....

Depending on which test you took I think usually these test only help you find your dominant type. From there you look at the wings of that type. Plus we do have a little of all the types in us.

I think the best place to start would to be to look at the stances...the 8 would be in the the aggressive stance and they are known for going after what they want. Instead of withdrawing or complying with the people around them, they move against others in order to achieve their needs and wants. The 9 is in the Withdrawn stance and they retreat into themselves or move away from people to achieve what they want or need. The 8w7 they fear being controlled by others and they dislike authority and prefer to work alone. The 4w3 deepest fear is that they have no significance in the world and they express this by frequently distinguishing themselves from the rest of the world. Hope this helps!

I don't think differentiating between work and home behaviors is helpful. I can be a bear at home and passive at work. It depends on the person and on the job.
