My mother worked for ENSA in Italy/ Genova/ Udine during WW2....have lots of tributes from the Artists that came to entertain the troops. Great hostess, spoke many languages and very much appreciated. Very proud of her. Rosa Larsen/ Guida

As an ex-Royal Marine there is NOTHING like marching behind a Royal Marine Band. I served with the Royal Navy around the world and the RMB Beat Retreat and Sunset in far flung ports was always hugely popular and much admired. Well done to you all.

To be honest i was 6ft 3" tall at the age of 15 yrs old . However i went to join the Royal Navy as my father was & served on the cruiser Enterprise ,. I was told i didn't have anough marks for the RN & had anough for the RM. So i got in the RM . Although the marks for both RN& RM are the same . It was my hieght .& as iwanted the RN in put in for a transfer landed up in H.M.S. Ganges ..plus as i was 3 when the war broke out .. after passing out of Ganges i landed up on the Indefatigable how ever as my schooling was during the blitz it was poor through Air raids & i was discharged from the navy . Although it was a experience i went to night school got my education . Then joined the Royal Engineers whereby i landed on Z Craft for three year & then transfered to another squadron which was the Workshops sqn where by i eventually run the welding shop did a NCO's course whereby i passed . & did 30 days on the RP staff which meant i would when promoted . I would be substantial NCO not acting unpayedNCO . However as someone was on the NCO strength was holding my promotion So i came out the Corp after 12yrs service ...landed ajob in refinery as a coded welder ..with city & guide's in welding engineer .

I think that the male “ENSA” singer is also the gentleman that was in the “I vow to thee my country “ video. He is very good! Also the female “ENSA” singer. Also very good!

I served 32 years in the RAF, RM band are wonderful (look up beating the retreat). This was a wonderful set, great music great singing, really enjoyable. No buts. I'm an Anglo-Scot (born in England both parents Scottish), and I'll always remember my father's variation of the 'There'll always be an England' he just changed the next line to "While Scotland's by it's side'. And that's to the point some of you will see as PC, but in these times as the Union itself is at risk I think it's an important symbol. If they were singing about England, why were they waving the Union flag? It wouldn't have been too hard to change the lyric to 'there'll always be a Britain' or to wave the Cross of St George. One of the reasons why the English flag is being commandeered by the nationalists is because the mainstream won't use it.
@garysturgis113 жыл бұрын
What causes the confusion here is that England can refer to Britain. While this has become less common in Britain it is still something Americans do and I think aussies Canadians etc. It's not meant as an insult to Scots, Welsh or Irish and I'm sure in this case it was just used for musical reasons.

Well said . Yes we should fly the the St Georges Cross.. unless their irish ,welshor Scottish ..

"Red, white and blue, what does it mean to you?" Well, naturally, it means the UK. Also the USA, France, Russia, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Norway, Iceland, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia, Serbia, Croatia, Chile, Paraguay, Cuba, Costa Rica, North Korea, Malaysia and Liberia. Seriously, having a red-white-and-blue flag isn't special.
