Your explanation about *"Extroverted Thinking"* was very good. If I may, I'd like to point out that the essence of your examination of the topic is "Extrapolation". When you examine a topic, a policy, a methodology or a plan on how to proceed or deal with something or some situation or some topic: the process of asking "Does this work" - is essentially - Extrapolation. Will the proposal work? Will it work well? Will it work badly? Will it work later down the road or is this temporary? Can it be done better than it currently is? These are all forms of extrapolation. Using logic and reason to extrapolate probable outcomes.

@@PsychologyandChillwMichi Sure thing, Extrapolation of concepts and concept formation are very much back-of-the-book subjects in psychology related to general IQ, and therefore, are often treated as verboten. As a result, very few people put any study into the subject unless they for some reason study epistemology or psycho-epistemology. Obscure topic most people either don't know about or know very little about - and even then - they're likely only to have come across it tangentially from a handful of sources.

@@jameskerr2812 Quote: *"So are the values within a range or not?"* I literally don't know who you're asking, but my original comment had nothing to do was fixed values within a range. I'm not sure your question applies. Quote: *"let's be clear that that's interpolating."* I was talking about the methodology of examining that which is and extrapolating out the logical consequences of that which is: you have X and R and you project *forward* that X and R will (future tense) _lead to_ G. Interpolation literally goes the opposite direction - where you have X and G and attempt to ascertain a previous step which (past tense) lead to G. Quote: *"see the statistical data here"* This literally doesn't even apply. Extrapolation is a method of determining a future event or development: interpolating is attempting to ascertain how a current and present set of condition or variables came about. One is a prediction of the future based on available data: the other is an attempt to determine how the present came to be. I.E. 1) Extrapolation attempts to determine, based on the data we have - how can we reduce violent crime in the future? 2) Interpolation attempts to determine, based on what data we have - how did violent crime get as bad as it is now? *Or more simply:* A futurist extrapolates, a historian interpolates.

@@jameskerr2812 Quote: *"Wow, I fired you up!"* This is fairly light conversation in between videos on .38 special loads, I'm currently looking for ammo for my mother, her carpal tunnel is getting worse and can't handle the recoil in her snubby anymore. Quote: *"So, where's the data here again?"* Data on what exactly? Are you asking for a statistical analyses of people's thought patterns? Such a thing doesn't exist - and the one time we actually tried to do such a thing we found out that a substantive portion of the population literally doesn't have an internal monologue. Fashion an exact question on the parameters you're looking for and maybe I can dig something up for you, or at least I *may* be able to find something at least _somewhat_ similar to what you're looking for. No promises, but I can certainly try to take a look for you. Quote: *"You must have some data to make a determination, either way, right?"* See previous paragraph.
@ObservingLibertarian
@ObservingLibertarian 3 жыл бұрын
@@jameskerr2812 Quote: *"I mean, are you literally telling me you make x, y, z interpolation/extrapolation with no data"* The word "data" refers to observations. In a clinical setting it's a large collection of observations which were carefully obtained in such a way as to eliminate erroneous, or unrelated, or unduly influenced results and then carefully recorded: that's "data". In this case, the observations were provided *in* the video, to which you are currently responding. The channel owner put up a video - detailing observations about a particular personality archetype: and I provided an interpretation of the methodology which brings about the observable behavior (data points) of that archetype. If you're asking for data - the data is in the video, if you're saying the data is insufficient - you're claiming the video itself is irreverent because it lacks viable data. I thought the video was fine, the Myer-Briggs personality system has been studied, at length, for a significant period of time, and the video presenter did not _seem_ to have deviated from standard observations made *about* the Myer-Briggs ENTJ classification: so I legitimately don't know what the issue is. Are you just taking a really circuitous route to claim that Myer-Briggs is an inaccurate system? If that's the case I don't really disagree, the system has had many detractors over the years, stating that there's too much overlap and that the results are too subjective: but it would have been a great deal faster had you just said that up front. This entire conversation seems really weird. In any case, you have a good day, when you form a question on what data you were looking for I'll take see what i can find for you later, probably respond tomorrow. Right now I'm looking for a good source of hollow based wadcutters (which no one seems to have in stock), or a speer hollow based wadcutter mold (which no one seems to make for some reason).

I don't believe we're unemotional robots. Is more a case of focusing so much on a given situation or conversation about how to resolve something that emotions are not dealt with in the moment. @@NathanLorenzana Exactly! And one more thing, I don't think relationships are hard when you find a right person. When the other person speaks directly about their wants, we actually understand them and will try our best to change and make them happy the way they want. The only thing that bothers us is their mindset. If I find someone who doesn't want to get better, who can't stand for himself/herself, who don't respect himself/herself, that's a huge turnoff. I can't tolerate laziness and excuses. Bad mindset is a huge turn-off. Everything else works perfectly fine with us.

Spot on! I like how you distinguish ENTJ variations based on their level of emotional development and intelligence. An ENTJ who's grown from personal emotional difficulty or trauma will see the value and power of compassion and emotional nurturing. They will watch and admire their beloved NF friends and learn to get good at it (authentically). That being said, they will have less patience with someone who is constantly in a victim spin cycle, and will eventually (as gently as possible) call the spin cycle out and encourage some empowered action... we can't help it... we consider ourselves out of integrity if we don't encourage forward, upward motion at some point. It's only the unhealthy ENTJs that don't learn to express themselves with sensitivity - sadly, their sharp mind can make them a bit arrogant and dismissive of very valid emotional factors... sigh... the good news is if they trust you really love them, they will take feedback... be gentle though, they DO have feelings ;)

I couldn't agree more and it makes me think that more than liking helping people, we love solving problems and helping people will naturally happen because of that. On the same note, one thing that can sometimes be very frustrating (don't know if other ENTJs feel the same way) is when people reach out looking for help or advice, and then they decide to take a different route from what you suggested, eventually ending up in a worse spot

As an ENTJ I think you hit the nail on the head. I would add the word "efficiency" - we love (love!) a system that is BOTH efficient and effective. This quote epitomizes the ENTJ: "Rome wasn't built in a day; I wasn't in charge." Also, we TRULY do NOT care who the boss is; however, they MUST be competent. This is the issue: as ENTJ's we cannot be silent on incompetence and that somehow comes across as intimidating. As a "boss" I sure as hell hope people who report to me question what the hell I am doing!!! We actually expect nothing less!

I'm an ENTJ. This helps to explain some things. Like how I can be the most prepared and/or rigid about a plan with an outcome in one group and the most flex in another 😂. It really is relative, depending on who you are around. This really gave me some insight. I'm ENTJ now, but I was *EXTREMELY* introverted and very shy when I was young. Like, too shy to talk shy, but that was mainly in my 20’s. At 48, when I tell people I was extremely shy growing up, they never believe me 😂. But it's true. I think that, and being very reflective for most of my life has made me more emotionally sensitive. I hope I'm not an asshole too much 😂.

I was also very shy as a child. Probably exacerbated by the fact that I was physically ill for several years between 3 and 9. It was also hard because, as a female entj, I was just so different from other girls. My father kept trying to make me into "typical female" and I kept resisting but it left me with a feeling of not belonging anywhere. That said, I intuitively knew that I was right and never tried to change myself to meet his approval. I learned to grow more emotionally sensitive during my adult years. Raising two children probably helped, but mostly I learned out in the world. I would do something insensitive, get a bad reaction, notice the reaction, but have no awareness at the time of what I had done to cause it. Over time I learned and got much better but it took time and conscious effort.

I'm an ENTJ, one of the characteristics that some people don't like about us is when we start pushing people out of their comfort zone: When we care about a person, be that a friend or a partner, we want them accomplishing their things, if they came to us with some problem, we tend to be over rational about it. For us, with dedication and time, any problem is completely solvable. We tend to be a little bit unsensible about their personal feelings. We are the people that you call if you want to solve your problem, not if you want to only talk about your problem and complain about it.

Very true. But if you want to be MORE efficient about solving their problems, you will mature and eventually learn that you can’t shortcut their emotions and them trusting you. It takes a LOT of patience and tongue biting… but efficiency also means bridging the gap with effectiveness where you want to simply teleport past an aspect of the issue. Does that make sense? Edit to add: not solving their problems, but teaching them how to solve their problems also

I would add that going to an ENTJ about feeling problems, to vent and get comfort, is hard on the ENTJ, who really wants to SOLVE the problem and will take on the problem not recognizing that is not what the other person is interested in. It destroys the ENTJ when the proposed solutions are not acted on, and the same problems come back into their face via the venting of that same original person, unchanged and unaddressed. the ENTJ is not capable of accepting feeling-related problems and just letting them be. It festers if not dealt with. If you want to destroy your relationship with an ENTJ, keep coming at them and dumping your problems onto them and ignoring their feedback. They cannot handle it.

Funny how I’ve known about being an ‘ENTJ’ for many years but the status never made since to me until I read a book about the 4 tendencies. Now, all my personality pieces are coming together. I’m a ‘questioner’ who in fact never answer another persons questions. I took the MB test again today because you can never have too many data points. All this to learn I’ve been working against my natural tendencies so long it’s hard to stop. In school I never answered the questions until the continued wrong answer got on my nerves. At university I was different I would answer the questions of other students asked before the professor to keep the class moving. I can make life or death decisions in the blink of an eye yet grape vs. cherry tomatoes stump me and don’t let it be time to buy a new organizer. Over analyze is a real problem when your brain only wants the most efficient of everything. I think I’m going to design my own organizer this year it will save me time.

I wish people who are not ENTJs saw this video and understood at once that we are not "bossy", nor are we "insensitive", nor are we looking for an "excuse" for our lack of tact. It's just that we get irritated easily by ineptitude and that we always have a problem with being tactless. Perhaps they aren't too focused on themselves and their feelings? Why don't we look at ourselves first before looking for someone else's error? We have tried our whole lives to learn to be patient, to be less grumbling, and to learn to be subtle and perceptive. But ... it isn't easy when the rest of the people don't change and expect us to change. PS: I love the way you explain the videos! They're great and help me to learn a lot of English.

Of myself and 6 siblings, I'm one of the only ones with financial stability because I am always focused on long term goals like owning a home. My younger sister blows her money on a vacation each time she gets ahead and eats expensive food, then comes to me for help when she's stuck. It's fascinating how accurate these personality subgroups seem to be.

"ENTJ" here. Managing improvement projects and introduction of new processes for the pharmaceutical industry and I love my job... You were describing me right there. Had a separation from my ex-wife a couple of years ago, when I did know too little about my self. She was always mad at me because I could never comfort her the way she wanted: "I don't want solutions, I want your empathy" she used to say.... a lot... I have no idea what personality type she might be... we never did any tests so we never really understood each other. Guess we were too young when we met. Well, now, I am living with a psychologist. She totally understands me. She appreciates that my way of showing that I care is by trying to find a tangible solution... for emotions issues, I try to listen, but she knows the best emotional support will come from her friend... We hardly have any relationship problems... she "gets" me. I wish I could have understood my self earlier in life. I really felt something was wrong with me... but now, I feel like it is a bless being an ENTJ...

Once the awareness is there, then it is just a problem-solving issue fix/improve. It sounds like you already have the awareness so you are well on your way. Careerwise, I had multiple careers, IT/computer training, but working mostly in an operations management area. I was not good at sitting at a desk programming all day. Being an ENTJ can be frequently misunderstood. ENTJ's don't put feelings as a top priority (including for themselves!) when developing plans to achieve a goal. It is mission first. The reward is delayed gratification - successful accomplishment and looking back to see a job well done and worth the self-sacrifice. ENTJ's look for robust solutions and efficiency in achieving the plan. Very frustrating when some (non-planners) come in at last minute to lead... and then don't achieve all the goals. Means more work in the long run. Also, definitely identified with not desiring to be the leader. But if no one steps up, will assume the role (in part due to frustration that without one, wheels are just spinning). And being an ENTJ female has an additional level of challenge. It has improved, but culture still resists female leadership. Not overtly or consciously, but in subtle ways (men and women).

The reason ENTJs are the most successful is because we have analytical intellects that focus on practical, rather than theoretical issues. We figure out how the world works, up to a point that we can predict the outcome of events with great accuracy. This is what matters. We are much more like gamblers than anyone imagines, but we never gamble. Most depictions of us are not that factual. Perhaps we are quite similar to the archetypal person described here, but we are also very laid back and generally very sociable.

In my opinion, entj must learn how to use their feeling. It’s a powerful tool in your a life that shouldn’t be undeveloped. About moral, my moral is a combination of my thoughts, religious and sometimes I am outsourcing from society on specific subjects.

We apply the lessons learned when we are misunderstood and try to improve delivery of our message every time. So very big on self improvement. We can detect top skills on people and try to get people to see what we see and sometimes people get upset with us for telling them how we see them. Many people don't react well to our bluntness and entjs genuinely hate offending people. And strong will power. I can quit anything cold turkey. For the longest time, I thought I was an ESFJ. I think it might have been due to the depression I was going through when my life imploded (Mom was vulnerable narcissist and passed away from brain cancer, dropped out of law school after being harassed by a female student, brother-in-law recovered from heroin addiction and almost destroyed my marriage and family, etc.) so I took the test again today and I came up as an ENTJ. It's much more accurate now. Maybe being a law student again (3rd year) with 3 kids got me to change a little, but I am definitely your description of an ENTJ.

The high hat and snare beat in the beginning was really distracting. I’d take that out. Also 6:05 till the end was straight up facts. I feel like I should add that if you want your ENTJ to solve your problem you have to remember to give them all of the details and context of the problem.

This one did have sound problems, i'm sorry about that -- I wish I could edit that after I've uploaded a video but KZbin is not nice about mistakes like that

It is interesting you bring up the fact that the ENTJ type can change plans as things move along. One of the things my current boyfriend told me when we first started dating was how pleased he was how I could just switch plans at a moments notice

I agree. I think it's because we are focused on the goal more than the process or program to get there. Makes it easy to switch up and adapt as we go along. And frankly I get bored if all I'm doing is implementing some pre-scheduled plan. It's the adapting that makes it all fun.

I'm a ENTJ. Thank you. 😊 thoughtful insight 👌 I should be more forgiving and thoughtful of others. My beautiful girlfriend is a ENFP.

First of all, thank you for the video :) Regarding your questions at the end, i do think some, if not a lot of the traits attributed to the entjs are symptoms of the same main root and driving cause, rather than a core root themselves. And That core is: pure base logic. In short does something, (all things considered carefully and dutifully), make sense or doesnt it? - If not, then why change ? Now of course, when determining if something might make sense (or not) to change, one should constantly doubt all things known and continiously re-analyse if a conclusion should be changed. And even if you then dont change your mind, that is also how previously held povs are enforced and understood even more in depth than before. However i digress, my point was, that the driving force of wether to adapt or to stay with an earlier pov, or even to show emotional growth and awareness, and take more into consideration how communication can be done more smoothly as to create greater acceptance (amongst more emotionally sensitive people) , is based on a logical insight of it likely being over all more opportune to reach a certain goal. That was and remains the main driving motor and motivation behind the other traits shown. The older and hopefully more insightful you become, the more variables you just include in your thought process, or maybe rather, the better you understand how much value to give each variable in each situation. Well, such is my impression of it at least, but i'd love to hear how everybody else finds it.
