Thanks for explaining the difference! The main thing is that sister locs are patented and has to meet certain requirements in order to be considered as such. Any deviation would be considered something else (micro locs).

Thank you for not only explaining what microlocs are but you gave us a visual. 🙂💙 I have sisterlocks; 350 locks when I started. I might have a five/forehead, however my head is tiny! I cannot imagine an extra 50 locks. I also have fine/low density hair in the front and fine/medium density in the back. The low density kicked in when I developed hypothyroidism. It’s been two years and I still love them!!🥰

My sister started my micro locs a year ago 2022 (diy at home she’s not a professional she watched KZbin videos) I’ve always have dry hair and always struggles with finding the right moisturizer, now I’m at that major frustration point, finding the correct moisturizer I’ve tried coconut oil, that didn’t work then I tried castor and it was ok at first then my hair got gunky 😩😩 I’m tempted to cut it all off.

I notice a lot of microloc styles leave out the bottom part of the strand so that the bottom will curl up naturally but your micoloc clients just look like they have locs without the ends left out. I honestly thought that's what set the microlocs apart from others but I see now that it is just the size. When client's leave out the bottom, will it always stay where it can be moisturized for the curl pattern to show or will that part just start to look like the loc?
@EnToiBeauty3 жыл бұрын
The loose ends will eventually loc but not all will. However, if too much loose hair is left out, client may start to experience bunching if not kept in a protective style.

Do you typically start microlocks with interlocking, 2 strand twist or braids? And does the braid pattern take longer to disappear.
@EnToiBeauty3 жыл бұрын
I typically start with interlocking unless the client request two strand twist. A client will request two strand twist because it's more cost effective and/or if they want fullness from the jump. The braid pattern does take longer to disappear than the others, usually about 2 years.

Micro locs come in 4 different super small sizes. I have different size micro locs through out my head and prefer it that way because I didn't want them all the same size. I started my DIY micro locs journey. I started with about 369 but split some and now I have 380. I also didn't want a grid so I did free parting. I retwist my micro locs instead of interlocking
@NevaScaredHo Жыл бұрын
Were the microlocs established with interloc or twists? Does that make a difference when they mature?
@NaturallyToya Жыл бұрын
Question can you make about people getting microlocs installed by comb twists? I’m 6 months loc’d and that’s how mine was started. And my retwists are palm rolled,I did get my perimeter interlocked once to stop from unraveling. But I after that I only get palm rolled. And my hair does look exactly sisterlocs but I wanted my very small. I went this route because of cost. I paid $250 for install and I get retwisted, washed, and styled every 4wks at $100. I just wonder has anyone ever done it this way. Or am I the only? And do you consider this a good or bad way to start? You’re extremely knowledgeable about this, I had to subscribe to you; would to hear your thoughts.
@raen-m64313 жыл бұрын
Which locs are the shiniest and least frizzy? So more smooth looking
@EnToiBeauty3 жыл бұрын
That all depends on the person's hair not the loc type or technique. Healthy, non-chemically treated hair tends to be shinier and tighter curl pattern tends to be the least frizziest. However, smoother looking locs are typically locs that are palm roll for maintenance.

Ugh I’m so torn between sizes. My hair is thick but I have fine strands. My head gets very hot so I don’t want my hair to be super full and heavy but I still want volume. My loctitian recommended 3/8 but 1/2 might give me the look I want. What size is recommended I have a big head so it’s hard to choose a loc count I’m thinking between 230-330

I may agree with some aspects but i will disagree on one statement u made. U stated microlocs are larger than sisterlocs and smaller than traditional locs when a good number of people with microlocs have the same size parting used in sisterlocs. For example i have microlocs and the size of the partition used is 1/8 of an inch and 1/4 an inch which are similar sizes used in sisterlocs. Second, i only know a few youtubers with microlocs that are less than 500 or even 400. I have 660 locs. So i do believe a good number of people with microlocs will have more than 300 and it will depend with the person who may feel that a high number of locs wont be good for them. I love your videos and i hope u will make that correction.
@EnToiBeauty2 жыл бұрын
I do agree with you. I think subconsciously anyone with 400+ locs, I just put them in the sisterlocs category regardless if they have the grid or not. But at the end of day sisterlocs is technically a form of microlocs (small locs). I completely get where you're coming from because I got quite a few clients that fall into that category. Hope this made sense.

@EnToiBeauty2 жыл бұрын
Microlocs is just small locs. So any locs that are pencil size or smaller, I consider it to be microlocs. When it comes to microlocs, I don't think the number of Locs matters because someone with fine, low density locs can be small but have less than 300. Just my opinion though😊
