Guys,.. Isildur getting his horse back from half a dozen filth-covered human bandits was one of the highlights of the second age. To this day the Elves sing songs of the genius plan of "I'll sneak in while you're getting captured". I'm glad Payne & McKay found time for it in their epic series! Everything in this show is so small, and so grubby (except the girl bosses, and Dissa)

Is Isildur not the one king that is depicted at Argonath, you know that colossal statue facing north on the river Anduin at the falls of Rauros. Strange, this Isildur must be another guy....
@neatwheat2 ай бұрын
@@MrChristophSteininge Exactly. One of the two staues and the other one is his brother. Erected ca. 1250 after Isildur's heroic deed and not so heroic demise. And after 1770 years when the fellowship passes through they still feel the imposing auro of that man. 🙂 We feel not so much of it in the Amazon version, I suppose? More like lame stories of mundane people, told within a Tolkien themed diorama? 🧐

Also, shepherds manage sheep for a reason, for lamb, mutton and wool. They're not there to protect them from all harm, ensure they live long happy lives, and punish anyone that hurts them. The vast majority of trees in Tolkein are not sentient, like Huorns etc. They're planks of wood, and Elves have been making boats and buildings out of them for ages. It's patently obvious even in the only source these "writers" use, the movies, but Scene XX has to happen so all previous context has to be wiped away.

I'm pretty sure the Entwives of the Second Age kept gardens in the region south of Mirkwood along the Anduin - what later became known as the desolate Brown Lands after Sauron burned it all to the ground. No where near where the show depicts, in other words

Did those scenes take place in Gondor? I know they reference Pelargir but who the hell knows?

So, Theo "Lord of Pelargir" now! Is sullen moody teen the qualification for that, or is it that "He hasn’t got shit all over him"? I guess maybe, seeing as "Look, he has a grubby little pendant on a burlap ballsack" was good enough for "The King of the South",.. at least in the eyes of the (second) oldest and wisest elf in the world. These "writers" have spent their entire lives failing upwards so of course "random filthy urchin is made Lord" makes sense to them!!!!

I think you’re wrong about New Bronwyn being evil. And this isn’t your fault, it’s the show’s fault for not being clear as to what being branded by Adar means. ‘In Mordor ya bow or ya bleed.’ Captured slaves have no choice but to be branded, and if she is one of the people that Sauron had helped be ‘let go’, then she was basically forced to be branded. Which makes me think that this hate for branded refugees is sorta unwarranted and contrived.

There's no rhyme or reason for any plot line that occurs in this show. The writer's do not explain anything that they throw at the audience. We should not have to ask who what where when and why for virtually every occurrence. I'm not even sure the actors understand the script themselves (and they're too focused on their R's and accents). Who is this show's target audience? Because I know it's not for Tolkien fans and it's not for Jackson movie fans... It must be targeted towards adolescents with the capacity at a young age to fantasize make believe and completely ignore story structure. Also, regarding the romance between Isildur and Estrid... Isildur has no idea that she tried to save them because he was in the nameless things belly. She didn't run away (towards the direction they just trekked days on) but why would she... she's afraid of southlanders and orcs so why would she leave the only protection she has and in handcuffs on top of it. Are there no women in Numenor? Why the hell does he love her and is now harboring some strange hatred and jealously that is some shallow attempt at being a reason for Isildur to make an evil decision later down the line that mimics the reason he didn't throw the ring in the fire. I think that's what the writers are going for which if true is just ridiculous.
@sarahgould54352 ай бұрын
🤦♀️ People, please leave the nameless things alone to gnaw at the earth. The reason nameless things are nameless is because *no one who speaks a language has discovered them.* The first thing people do when they come across an unfamiliar thing, especially a significant threat is to name them! Even if the name eventually turns out to be inaccurate, as with malaria. Leave the nameless things alone!

Michael is right, what you said at the beginning. I'm almost sure that 13th year olds are the only people who can like ROP. Visually, the show is good for TV and for an early teenager, who doesn't know anything about Tolkiens work, the show can be interesting. You can conclude what kind of writers are working on this show, maybe some, ex Disney, Nickelodeon. My children were little in the early 2000s and watched the shows they were watching. OMG! Now I know who is writing this piece of sh*t 😅

I think Arondir calls him Lord to inspire him the same way you sometimes call a kid boss or champ, it's just setting out an aspirational goal for Theo and reminding him of his responsibility.
@MatthewEverettGates2 ай бұрын
Could be left at "this is obviously for children." There's nothing wrong with doing that show, but we were deceived by marketing- somehow they don't think it is that obvious. It is interesting hearing your thoughts; I'm tired after watching season one- I've tried, but I can't get more than 10 minutes past floppy Sauron. It is truly a small world they've invented from some Tolkien character names.

You know, I used to like fantasy. I watched films in my youth like Krull, the last unicorn, Dragonheart, Willow. Later I watched such desaster zones like DnD movies, withnessed Jeremy Irons overacting Profion. Much later I watched the Lord of the Rings. But now in this age of television series I grow tired of this. As much amusement as I get from witnessing this train wreck of a show I am really, seriously getting tired of this. The sheer mass of bosh, the black hole of talentless story telling is weighing me down. Much like the MCU or the SW franchise I must say: Tolkien content is dead, a forgettable mess. Something I dont really want to delve in. Unless there is something new that rekindles my interest I am done with this.
