Commando (1985) First Time Watching Movie Reaction, Review, and Commentary for JL. Many moments of admiration of Matrix's ability to live up to his name and curious thoughts as to just how much Columbian marching powder the writers were on were had.

@@disconnexionsdotcom Yep, and when you watch the trailer for Commando they used a track from 48 hours, and for the longest time I thought it was just scratch stuff that was done for the movie that never got used. @@disconnexionsdotcom If you get the chance, back-to-back Star Trek 2: Wrath of Khan and Krull. Horner did both of those a year apart (maybe less) and it's like he wrote 1 score and split it in half for the films. This movie is kind of a satire of the action movie genre because it is so over the top. It was released when I was an early teen and we watched it on VHS a couple of times that day. A lot of the fun was just pointing out all the times Matrix or Cindy would have died or been badly injured, and laughing at the way he waded through all those bullets without taking a hit, aside from a flesh wound that had no effect. Also check out the Nostaglia Critic's video on "Commando". He has much the same opinion of it but does a better job of explaining it.

Feats of Matrix in Commando: - Carried log over his shoulder. - Pulled handgun from holster of commanding officer coming to visit WITH a whole platoon of armed soldiers. - SMELLED the villains before the attack at his home. - Flat out shot the messenger in the head then pushed his Bronco down a mountain to chase the villains. - Throwing out jokes while his daughter is kidnapped and getting on a plane. - Easily killed his captor on an airplane without alerting anyone. - Jumped from said plane and falling into a swamp who knows how shallow. - Ripped girl’s car seat out while crouched next to said car within 5 seconds. - Beat numerous security guards down. - Ripped phone booth out of the floor/wall and flipped it with someone still inside. - Participated in a car chase. - Drove head on into a telephone pole, totaling the car but in the same second was checking on the girl in the floorboard of the car next to him (she was a superhero too for not getting hurt there). - Absolutely manhandled Sully. - Beat down ol’ Duke while throwing out jokes. - Ripped off chain on locked fence within 5 seconds. - Knocked out guards. - Another car crash in gun store. - Survived getting blown up by a rocket launcher. - Did he rip out of the handcuffs at this point? I didn’t see and don’t remember from previous viewing of movie. - Still making jokes. - Gun fight with two guys in Jeep while leaning out of parked plane. - Makes it to a hostile island filled with enemy soldiers, proceeds to change clothes, apply camouphlage makeup and load all weapons on beach in the open. - Killed EV-E-R-Y-ONE on island in all out assault using arsenal he stole. - When running low on ammo and outnumbered, he steps into a tool shed and proceeds to cut off limbs, tops of heads and stabbing people with potentially dull gardening equipment found in said shed. - Running while shooting M60 accurately. - Threw heavy duty steam pipe at least 6 feet long through villain’s chest / spine and into steam tank behind him, impaling him (I bet the pipe was also very hot when he threw it). - Ended movie with badass comment . All this was within a timeframe of, what, a day? Maybe two days? This man would be an amazing opponent for ANY other movie character, let alone the Bride. She was awesome, but her feats of cutting off limbs was done with the amazing and legendary Hanzo sword, not old gardening tools. I’ve always loved this movie and this is my favorite Arnold look out of all his movies (the dress up montage before final confrontation).

The cool thing is The Terminator came out 1 year before this one, and he already, he is continuing on his quest to get the most mileage out of the line, "I'll Be Back". Here's the list of movies he has used that very same line: 1. The Terminator (1984) 2. Terminator 2: Judgement Day (1991) 3. Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003) 4. Terminator Genisys (2015) 5. Commando (1985) ***** This one ***** 6. Raw Deal (1986) 7. The Running Man (1987) 8. Twins (1988) 9. Total Recall (1990) 10. Kindergarten Cop (1990) 11. Last Action Hero (1993) 12. Junior (1994) 13. Jingle All The Way (1996) 14. The 6th Day (2000) 15. The Expendables 2 (2012) So, along with this one, he used that same line in 15 movies ... so far.

I really like this movie with Arnold, I often watched it on TV as a child) In the film, a young Bill Paxton appeared in a cameo role back then.

OMG...I am laughing so hard at your reaction!!! Commando is the quintessential 80s action movie. Great one-liners, a one-man army, and Rae Dawn Chong...lol

I loved this movie as a kid...now it's one of the most comical action movies to watch, but I still can't stop watching it.

Laser Mission with Brandon Lee has the same vibe as this movie. So much action, unrelenting cheese, walking off bullet wounds. Fun stuff.

One of my favorite reactors watching the silliest Arnold movie ever. Just what the doctor ordered for Friday afternoon.

@@wantutosigh1117 It's hilarious. One of the funniest films I have ever seen. If I am having a rough week I can always put Commando on and enjoy the hell out of it.
