my TV in my bedroom adds value to my life. I play podcasts on youtube (often this show) when I'm doing my pre-bed lumbar stretches and strengthening activities. I then play ASMR videos on youtube (black sheet over TV to remove all light) with the sleep timer on to fall asleep. No partner, so no one to worry about bothering with this :)

I like the words pacify and edit. I will use this to wake myself up, when I unmindfully do things. We do a lot of things that we really do not have the means just so we can pacify other people, and forget ourselves in the process. Like you guys. thanks.

I'm in the process of decluttering. slowly getting into minimalism. I know which ones I will let go. But I have a collection of cds, I have a drum set that I might replace with an electronic one, I have 2 longboards plus the older ones that I still keep, a road bike and a mountain bike which all serve different functions/ style of using. I'm also hoping to climb more mountains which means I'll be needing more gears necessary for the climb. All of these I find hard to let go. Haha I guess I cant fully turn into a minimalist yet.

I really enjoyed this podcast! Thank you so much. I am new to podcasts. Your 00 was my first one. Now I am all fired up to read some of the recommended books. Cannot believe you were right across the bay in St. Pete and I learned about it right when you left. Next time!

hey, an improvement for your minimalist website would be a search bar somewhere visable and not in "archieves" :)

I just love this. It all comes to defining your own lifestyle focusing on what matters and adds most value to your life. Keep it if adds value in whatever way. Toss it away if it's just another garbage.

Holland has a 30 year mortgage. But 20 years is a cheap as 10 so..better to do 20 if the intrest is extremely low.And if its debt use a linear style.

I just listened to this older podcast. Do you still believe real estate isn’t an investment? I was a single parent paying as much for rent as I ended up paying for my mortgage when I saw a house I liked and bought it. To get into it I had an interest only loan for a couple years but then I refinanced and 15 years later I met my husband and moved in with him and sold my house. I made a $300,000 profit. I would say that was a good investment! If I had had to stay there indefinitely, I would have paid it off by the time I retired, or if for any other reason I needed to sell it, I would’ve walked away with money. By the way, I love your show. I just started listening to it and I’m listening to all the podcasts in order. I was just curious if your opinion on real estate has changed since you made this podcast.

I actually though you were an INFJ Joshua.. INTJ surprised me. Also, the rarest type is INFJ not TJ. I'm an INFP... the second rarest type. Though rare is relative when 1% is still millions of people in the world. Though America being a SJ country makes it pretty rough for us NF's and any N's in general. :)

I really enjoy these podcasts, but I found that the comments on zero waste was first of all derogatory and second of all misinformed. There are lovely TED talks about that subject and zero waste meaning is in fact "produce as less waste as you can in consuming less and better", it's especially concerned by food waste or the way we buy food (in realy recyclable packaging, glass or cardboard or in bulk) but also clothing and of course other material goods. The "zero waste" phrase in itself is an aim, not a rule, and I would have thought that so informed people as the minimalists would have checked that before dismissing an entire movement.
