@@raraavis7782 There is a whole agenda around the vegan movement that's really unbelievable once you delve into it. It's about much more than people think it is. But they sure make it sound so attractive, despite the fact that the evidence shows that vegan diets are worse for the planet, that regenerative farming is hugely beneficial and the consumption of meat is actually much better for the human race and the whole planet.

Stone cold truth! Being fat adapted and having my leptin sensitivity restored, I cannot overeat protein and fat. However my brain always seems to have room for some carbs. LOL
@Tammar_Tammy3 жыл бұрын
Such a good video, I wrote down the essential of it, so I can read it to all the skeptics out there: “Carbohydrates are the only essential micronutrients in our blood stream - we have to have it in our bloodstream. But - we do not have to consume it, because our liver is very very good at producing carbohydrates. The liver cannot produce essential fats and it cannot produce essential amino acids - we have to eat those. So when it comes to human nutrition that keeps us alive, the only two things we have to consume are certain types of fats and certain types of proteins.... 1. if you never eat them (carbohydrates) again - you’ll be absolutely fine. 2. The human body has specific hormonal feedback patterns that are primarily triggered by saturated fats.... that go back to your brain, when you eat saturated fats and it (the brain) say ‘dude, stop. You’re done’. So we cannot, in excessive way, overeat protein and fat. Like any other drug out there, Carbohydrates are not necessary for human survival, they have a very powerful endorphin effect... which is controlled in a positive feedback system that has no control. Therefore you have to concisely self limit. You never have to concisely control protein and fat... when you’re eating meat and fat - your body will self limit, it’s built to do that. It is not built to self limit carbohydrates. “ Thank you Dr. Cywes!!! 💜💜💜💜💜

I have to agree! Cutting carbs is the ONLY thing that has ever worked for me. I'm 62, 5' 11'' and my starting weight was 223 on May 28th. I was sliding toward congestive heart failure and my bloodwork showed me as pre-diabetic. I started doing keto. I didn't start exercising regularly until I'd lost the first 40 lbs. I'm off all my medications but 1 (for BPH) and a daily aspirin. My last bloodwork indicated I'm no longer pre-diabetic and I'm no longer in heart failure! At 172 lbs I feel better than I've felt in years and getting off the beta-blocker, ACE inhibitors, and other medications with their accompanying side effects I'm sure has helped tremendously. I did keto before but my doctor told me to stop, even though I was losing weight (and of course all the weight came back plus more). This time I just did it and didn't tell him how. When I was competing in karate tournaments in my mid-20's, I kept my weight between 157 and 160. Just 15 more lbs (the hardest they all say), but I believe 🙂

@@patrickh709 Thanks for replying. Before I committed to Keto-carnivore six months ago, I did the whole tracking carbs thing with the goal to keep my carbs to no more than 100 g a day. Weighing, measuring, and recording everything was a pain in the ass. However, the benefit of doing this was I’d never realized before just how much carbs I’d been eating in the past. Now, it’s SO much simpler: I eat meat, eggs, and animal fats. I occasionally use olive oil and coconut oil for cooking. No more weighing and measuring my food. Most days are OMAD. In my weight loss journey, I have started keto twice. Both times was cold turkey...going from a standard American diet to 20 g of carbs overnight. Both times it did not take long for all my cravings to disappear. I have found that if I eat too many carbs, I am hungrier the next day. Happens every time for me. This is something that will take a long time for people to understand...because we're so wrapped up in restriction and diet culture (which, actually, leads to the restriction/craving/endorphin chase/relapse/guilt/restriction cycle which is ALSO a feedback loop.) I have to explain to people when I'm going over their food logs, I don't care about your calories, I want to see high-quality foods and the elimination of additives that may cause harm and sustain cravings - most people find that within a week of increasing their fats/proteins, they DO NOT have to worry about going over on calories or being hungry while losing weight (especially since most people are overdosing on carbs while ALSO being totally deficient in essential fats/protein)...their concern is that they aren't eating enough after the first adaptation phase. But even if we DID gorge on real food, we would lose the motivation, because we do not get high - we get STUFFED. With carbs and sugar, we do not experience satiety - we experience the inner food monster, poking us in the ribs, sometimes for days at a time.

The comment about weight vs. body fat is never fully examined. Over the years, I have seen countless stories of people gaining or at least maintaining their "weight" when moving to a higher protein or Carnivore diet from the SAD. This seems even more prevalent in women moving from a vegetarian/vegan diet. So when the "gaining muscle, losing fat" explanation is suggested, it is commonly dismissed. This is where measurements and/or pictures are helpful to dieters who may not truly trust the process.
@qatza10033 жыл бұрын
Dr. Rob, I would like to propose a simple series of tests to confirm or disprove the carb/fat hypotheses you discuss in this video. Many years ago Owsley “The Bear” Stanley (50 year carnivore) believed that his research/reading indicated that all consumed carbohydrates were converted to fat in the body and no dietary fat was converted to fat. He based these beliefs, in part, his 50 years of experience and on a study he said was conducted years ago where radioactive tags were used to trace consumed glucose and fat (possibly in rats). Why not do a similar set of tests now with humans (tracers are used routinely for other purposes) to confirm or refute the whole carb/fat consumption debate. The tests would only need to involve a few test subjects (assuming everyone processes food as the Guyton physiology textbook says) and not a great amount of money. With today’s technology this sort of test should eliminate the need to constantly address the topic in books and videos, many of which appear to conflict with the basic physiology.

When in doubt, eliminate all carbs and add them back gradually only AFTER you start experiencing success.

I totally agree but I've been doing keto since October and lost three kilos fairly quickly but nothing this year. I've moved to a nearer carnivore way of eating but I'm still not losing. It's frustrating. I lost 25 kgs first time on keto, fell of and gained 8. I don't understand why I'm not losing this time. I'm not cheating. 🥺

Good luck! Your body might be healing more on the inside during these times as well. The oxalates from plants really bothered me. Now I just eat lettuce a bit when I’m craving that crisp crunch and am feeling better.

One month of ADF on meat - no weight loss at all! And I gained weight on high PUFA diet many years ago. I think, that after loosing of 40 kg of fat, 30 kg left on my body is stuck because of PUFA.

I too don't lose weight on carnivore, if anything, then I actually gain some weight. But I do feel many other benefits. No stomach ache, no bloating, no migraine, nails are stronger and I put on some muscles too.
@patrickh7093 жыл бұрын
@@angiesrecipes It is quite possible to over consume calories on a carnivore diet. Carnivore is not a get out of jail free card. Calories do still matter.

@@patrickh709 Exactly, but many people preach eating until you’re full on carnivore and that can mean 2-4 lbs of meat depending on the person.

It can take time. A few other low carb/zero carb people on youtube have said it and I tend to agree with them based on my own journey so far....while we want to see weight loss right away the body will prioritize healing over weight loss. Kelly hogan of myzerocarblife here on youtube says this and has had interviews with other people who go many months on low/no carb before seeing weight low. It does not mean that nothing is happening! Keep going! 😃

Dr Cywes, could you please do a video in regards to eating carnivore without eating mammalian meats for those of us with Alpha Gal syndrome. And if it is safe to eat only poultry and seafood.

Gluconeogenesis. There is usually no fat in protein shakes and v little AA variability

I lived on carbs wifh carbs and sugar for the first 50 years of my life. As a teen I was into bicycle racing. My record is 70 kilometers in 2 hours. I'd eat about 18 slices of bread per day, with margerine and jam and would put a heaping tablespoon of dextrose in my tea every morning as was recommended. Brain and muscle food. Tasted awful. Now after a full year of keto and 10kg down I seem to have zero tolerance for carbs. That worries me a bit.
@tjellis14793 жыл бұрын
Daily Fake carbs are not tolerated well by anyone of us. We dont know it because the body adapts. We get sleepy-moody-happy-cranky from fake foods. We simply dont know it's happening from the gut. Emotional reactions triggered by fake food peaking our hormone levels is never mentioned in the daily details. Food is stressful to digest at many different levels. We tend to ignore them until we get sick or allergic to a fake food group. Some of us have minor reactions some have major reactions. Auto immune triggered after every bite....how much varies based on your overall metabolic health. If you are in a constant state of inflammation(from fake foods) and gut leakage....how do you know what healthy is...until you eat for nutrition. Like the good Dr. Cywes says...the Liver will provide all the needed "sugar"(gluconeogenesis) needed to sustain life. Just my 2 cents

@@tjellis1479 Yes, like I said I'm on keto now for a full year and fat adapted but now if I eat a tiny slice of pie at my son's birthday my legs swell up, I itch everywhere, I feel drunk etc. I ate shitloads of that stuff in previous years without much trouble.
