I always smile when I hear you Brits refer to "Hoovering" , a term derived from the Hoover vacuum cleaner invented in the good old USA.

If you keep having to hit that cut-off saw to get it spinning, I'd suggest looking up what carbon brushes the motor needs and swapping them. It can do damage if you keep running it with worn brushes and they cost under 10 GBP usually. Amazing work as always, keep plugging away at it. There's probably never going to be a day the critics will be silent, but I'm sure you'll stop hearing them as you sail off on Sarinda for her next adventure.

Amazing progress and good level of craftsmanship. Wooden boatbuilding is one thing but doing it outside in the wind and the rain and the cold is on another level. It's great how you go thought this challenge with so much positive energy. I know how frustrating it can be if you want to finish a step and then it starts to rain and you have to stop. All the best!

For those who want to adjust band saw tracking without the cover being open. Just adjust the tracking while it's still. Switch it on and off and when it stops open the cover to see if it needs more adjusting.

Getting better all the time. An observation. When cutting a bevel using a bandsaw I find it easier and safer to have the fence on the lower right hand side of the table. That way the upper blade guard can be lower and closer to the wood being cut which helps to prevent the blade wandering. It also takes the weight of the wood rather than you having to exert pressure to hold the wood against the fence. This also reduces the risk of the blade binding within the timber due to it sliding away from the fence or too much pressure being applied to the workpiece.

When you adjust the tracking on the band saw (position of blade on wheel) the gullets of the teeth should be just clear of the side guides on the upper and lower guides. The rear guide (usually a bearing) should be adjusted so it is just clear of the blade back when not cutting. (back it off before adjusting the tracking.
