The wage gap in the United States is no secret.
According to the National Committee on Pay Equity, “The next Equal Pay Day is Tuesday, April 10, 2018." This date symbolizes how far into the year women must work to earn what men earned in the previous year.
While I agree with many that industries and legislation need to change, I still encourage every woman to participate in her own rescue. We can't wait for anyone else to change, but we can change what we're willing to accept.
In today's video, I talk about 5 ways we as women specifically, can earn more money. These are just a few of the practical steps I've taken and have helped thousands of other women take in their journey to earn more.
1. Face your fears. (You’re too fabulous to not go for more! Together, we’re going to learn how to do it afraid!)
2. Rock your gifts. You were born with something special. Use it or lose it, honey!)
3. Establish your value. (You bring a lot to the table. No more hiding. Let’s flaunt it!)
4. Negotiate like a ninja. (Who can say “No,” to your boldness and confidence, girlfriend?)
5. Maximize your money maker.(You’re making more, but let’s make sure we manage it wisely.)
To learn more about these 5 principles and get a step by step guide to help you earn more, join the absolutely FREE Earn More Money Movement at www.iwillearnmo... during the month of April 2018.
See you there!

I worked in human resources and as a hiring manager for 15 years. Only men negotiated higher salary during the second interview or IMMEDIATELY after being hired. One male requested his medical & dental immediately because he had a family to support. So we gave it to him, policy is to wait 3 months. He also negotiated his retirement matching fund to be effective in 6 months instead of our one year policy. We recruited more men from out of the area than women because they were willing to move for the right job.Bottom line: Not all pay inequality is gender bias. Men have a different mindset. They are comfortable negotiating. They don't just settle.

Liz Carol thank you for posting your comment. May God bless you, I didn't know this could be done. If you don't mind me asking, what degree does one get in college to become a hiring manager in human resource. (I just started to think to myself is not to late to go back to school and get the degree). Thanks for reading

Now, that's good insider knowledge! I think most women have declined to seek after what they really want and need for their economic and personal well-being (among other things) because we have been historically predisposed and stigmatized to 'know our place' and to be non-assertive and dependent because men need to be the leaders.

That is not fair. I have worked in the social services industry and always asked for more, the fair market rate for the value that I brought and when you are black and female it is clearly expected of you to do multiple jobs for less. Especially at black-led social service agencies. They say that you have to pay your dues.

I've done this. I have found my worth and raised my prices Yes, I lost some clients, but I lost the ones that made me work harder for less. It is NOT WORTH IT! BUT.....I AM WORTH IT!!! With that mentality I have plenty of money coming in, I can enjoy my work because I feel appreciated, I work only with those who value me and my services, and I have more time to do the things I want to focus on. So, If you're a woman of faith, don't be afraid "KNOW" God's Got your back. If you're not a woman of faith, well it is okay, because Jesus Loves you too. When you are using the gifts and talents you're blessed with, you may have a loss, but you will gain soooo much more!! So go get yours! Women do deserve it! "YOU GOT THIS GIRL!"

In 1989 I was to go into work and quit my job at an insurance company to go into business with a friend. She knew I was going in to quit and she waited until the end of the day to tell me she changed her mind! I was out of a job. Then, I worked for my dad. He has a very successful business. He wanted me to get corporate skills and then take me on to take over the company someday. He was going to name the business after me. I was the director and office manager. However, he had a salesman that was with him for 19 years. For the entire time this guy was stealing from us. 10's of 1000's of dollars ... maybe even a million. My dad blamed me for the inventory being off. The screaming and yelling was unreal. He would call me stupid every single day. I would try to defend myself, which, in his eyes and everyone else's was disrespectful. Maybe ... but my back was against the wall. The last thing anyone thought was that Michael was stealing. My husband and I ended up moving away and I had to leave my position. But, when we discovered the theft my dad never apologized to me. I have had to sit there and watch my dad give my 21 year old nephew the business!!!! My heart hurts. This salesman took more than just product. To this day my dad thinks I am an idiot. I would have fought the move we made as a family if the situation was different and the abuse was not happening. I have been screwed out of a multi-million dollar business. Then, I got my real estate license and was screwed by a client out of $23K. That did it! Now, I hold my value. I do not work for less than 2.5 apples. (Not allowed to talk dollars.) I refuse to lower my commission ... for anyone. I work way too hard. The hell with anyone who does not like it. Find another agent but I know you will not find anyone who is as thorough as I am. I refuse to be screwed and devalued again ... ever! Anyways, rant over. (Can you do a video on forgiveness?)
@samlopez6176
@samlopez6176 4 жыл бұрын
The rant was necessary and in my opinion it was venting. Knowing your worth is part forgiving yourself and it's a great place to start. As for your Dad, not verbally apologizing does not necessarily mean he isn't regretful. He might be embarrassed and fill with guilt. Nonetheless, I'm very proud of you and you are an inspiration to me! Sending you so much LOVE!

I am proud of you. Without going into details, I can so relate to you and your story. Misogyny is real and it hurts the worst when it creeps in through our family members. This is a result of the curse pronounced on Adam and Eve. In Jesus' name, I declare that you will recover all, you will be stronger than you were at your previous state, not only will you forgive but you will be a bridge of healing and wholeness in your family.

I just completed a project for a client who dropped my price to 60% less than the original quote. I took the project initially with the intention of proving myself and thereafter ask to revise the pricing after successful delivery. The client did come back to ask me to do another project, and I did not quote my original price, I instead asked for about 30% more than their previously agreed price, which is still way less than the market rate. I felt anxious after doing this because my business is still new, however, after watching this I feel like I must relax because I am well educated and well experienced in my field to be worried about people who cannot see and acknowledge the value of my work. It's very tough to be a woman in business, especially in a male-dominated field that I am in and am sure most of us are all in as well. But you worry about personal life and your dependants and it becomes a tricky sticky situation.

Love it, Patrice. As I'm working on developing my ad to start recruiting my mentees, I struggled with what I should charge. After thinking hard (and probably over thinking😁) I came to a decision based on the value I know I bring to my audience/clients.

Why do we do that? "Over think" ugh...i overthink everything. Honestly it takes me forever just to post an ad. I have to constantly remind mindself "its not about perfection, its about grace". Good luck to you and all your success. "YOU GOT THIS GIRL! And you are worth it.

My mom got an interview for a job and the salary was low, so my mom said she wouldn't work for that amount because she knew her work worth more than that. Well, she got the job and they raised her salary! Knowing your worth is essential.

The more requirements listed means more expectations that aren't reasonable for my lifestyle. As women we already take on more in other areas where we don't receive enough compensation or recognition. Im not doing more work it's not that I'm lazy but because I have a family and other priorities that men may not have or even recognize. I work in an all women office by the way.
